She has served locally and nationally with the Society for Human Resource Management. They are active members of their local synagogue.

Statement

County government has a small number of jobs – and it should make sure it’s doing them well. At the top of that list is public safety, providing for an effective Sheriff’s department. Next is roads and transit. Third is permitting housing – something we need more of. Today’s county council isn’t focused on these basics. The effects are being felt across our community.

As your County Councilmember, I’ll keep public safety, transportation, and housing as my top three priorities. These priorities will keep our community safer, better connected, and help with the steep increases in cost of living and inflation that we are all suffering from.

My husband Jeff and I have been married for 29 years and are active in this community. We’ve raised our four children in Pierce County. Two joined the Army, one son is developmentally delayed, and transit is vital to his life, and our youngest son lives in Parkland.

As an Army veteran, who was stationed in this community and then chose to retire here, I know just how nice Pierce County is compared to other places. Unfortunately, this quality of life is in danger. County Government can and must do a better job.

Community Service

Marty has served on many boards and commissions, including: Chair, Crystal Judson Family Justice Center; Representative, Pierce County Commission Against Domestic Violence; Board Member, Tacoma Arts Live; Board Member, Workforce Central.

Statement

Marty Campbell has a proven record of accomplishments built around reaching common ground. On the Tacoma City Council, and now as our County Councilmember, he’s led on the issues that matter most: public safety, homelessness, and economic development.

We all deserve to feel safe in our communities. On the Council, Marty has increased funding for law enforcement, including improved training and recruitment, and will ensure that we fully staff the County Sheriff’s Department. He’s also been a leading advocate for Community-Based Policing, including CLOs/CLDs and dedicated mental health co-responders. He’ll demand stronger legislation from Olympia to ensure that our laws protect everyone and that first responders have the tools they need to respond quickly and effectively when you call 911.

With the price of housing and everyday items on the rise, everyone is struggling. Marty led efforts to bring Federal pandemic relief for local small businesses, and now will work to reduce household costs. He has significantly increased investments in affordable housing. He’s also expanded shelter space and mental health care for those experiencing homelessness, to help get them off of the streets and connected with the services they need.

Please vote to re-elect Marty Campbell.

Statement

“Our local and statewide public servants have failed us. Our communities in Pierce County have become unaffordable, unsafe, and unfree. I believe you and your family deserve to live in a community where rents and property prices are inline with incomes, where you can enjoy our wonderful Pierce County communities without fear of becoming a victim of crime or harassment, and where you are not burdened by high costs, unnecessary fees, and high taxes.

As your next Councilmember I will work hard to Refund the Police. Pierce County must rein in reckless spending and direct our resources to programs and solutions that deliver results. I will work to get our budget focused and under control by advocating for a zero-based budget contingent on outcomes. Restoring our communities to their potential means facing our most critical challenges of generational poverty, drug addiction, crime, homelessness, and mental health. This effort must include Western State Hospital being restored to acceptable federal standards for long-term treatment and care.

I’m Josh Harris. I’m running to be your next Pierce County Councilmember in District 7 because I believe Pierce County’s best days are ahead of us and I’d appreciate your support. This election, vote Josh Harris.”

Statement

It is our time to stand watch and protect the communities we enjoy. Allowing crime to soar after hog-tying police and taking away their vital tools that keep us safe is just plain reckless. The open season on our citizens and local businesses must stop now.

Pierce County will shine again post pandemic, but we must first rebuild our rainy-day fund and reign-in unnecessary spending. Keeping proper priorities in mind while adhering to our budget are key to fiscal responsibility.

If we mind our shop and are good stewards of what we have been given, people will find that Pierce County is not only beautiful, it’s an amazing place to do business – attracting many environmentally friendly, living-wage jobs.

I was born in Tacoma and grew up in Gig Harbor doing the kinds of things that kids love to do; baseball, basketball, waterskiing, scouts, band and riding my bike. I love how and where I grew up. I love that I was able to share this place with my kids. Pierce County abounds with natural beauty, recreational opportunities and cultural richness. Let’s all work together to keep it that way. I hope to earn your vote this election. Elect Mitch!

Statement

As a Gig Harbor Councilmember, business owner, mother and volunteer, I absolutely understand the issues Pierce County faces - increasing crime and homelessness, infrastructure lagging behind growth, and threats to our character and environment. I have the experience and dedication to tackle these challenges and help Pierce County flourish.

I’ll reduce crime and increase neighborhood safety by providing first responders and service providers appropriate staffing and resources. I’ll champion better infrastructure, broadband, mental health resources and services for children and seniors. I’ll implement lasting solutions to homelessness by helping people into stable housing, while also emphasizing prevention. I’ll advocate for protecting community character and our precious environment.

I’m the only candidate with proven experience working collaboratively on a non-partisan city council. My reputation for hard work and effectiveness has earned me endorsements from Congressman Derek Kilmer; County Councilmember Derek Young, Former Councilmember Terry Lee; the Firefighters of Tacoma, Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula and Pierce County Central Labor Council.

Whether you live in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Fox Island, Key Peninsula or Ruston, I will represent you by working hard to improve safety, increase county services and protect the environment - all in ways that are equitable, transparent and fiscally responsible.
