Video Game Building
In this camp, we use Scratch 3 -- an amazing code environment developed at MIT especially for kids. Scratch 3 curriculum is used at many levels educationally, from Elementary school on up to high school, and it’s a great way to expand your child’s play time into a foundation for career potential! Kids will spend time on computers and tablets, but no, we don’t expect them to sit in front of a device for 3 hours! We swap activities so that kids are getting up, stretching, and doing creative LEGO® building activities, mixed in with learning how to code. Campers should already have good reading skills.
Not sure if your child can keep up, or not sure if they will have enough to keep them busy? The Bricks 4 Kidz® approach to teaching code is fun and helps kids self-pace, so that they are challenged, but not frustrated, and able to learn and apply more each day.

We're Sprucing Up Sprinker!
Outdoor improvements to Sprinker are underway. From February 2023 to March 2024 we are renovating outdoor facilities, installing a new spray park, playground, futsal courts, an event lawn and more! You can learn more on whats coming your way here at www.piercecountywa.gov/sprinkeroutdoorproject.
We're starting to improve the inside too. Sprinker Team rooms are under construction. These five new team rooms will meet the needs of hockey teams and allow the facility to host a variety of hockey games, tournaments, and skating competitions.
Up next, we are remodeling the inside of Sprinker! We reached out to the Parkland and Spanaway communities earlier in 2022 to understand how you are using Sprinker and what you want to see. Now we are reporting back on what we heard and can show you how your feedback was incorporated into a concept drawing. The second survey is done and soon the survey site will become a project site. Learn more here at https://sprinkerreccenter. mysocialpinpoint.com/sprinker-recreation-center/home/
What improvements would you like to see at Gonyea?
We need your input on the Gonyea Park Master Plan! Please sign up at www.piercecountywa. gov/gonyeaproject to receive updates in early 2023 on the planned improvements and learn how you can help plan this park.
