ALL ABOUT PROJECT cantina montoneʼs mission is to create a place to imagine and experiment, where it is possible to merge passion and wonder for every form of art. cantina montone / contemporary artistic expressions is a project/process open to the unexpected and in continuous interaction with the urgency of contemporary artistic expression; a venue for cultural exchange and a multidisciplinary setting for exploring territorî contemporanei and changing society. Founded in 2012, cantina montone is located in the 2 rustic setting – some 30 m – of a small, old wine cellar which, despite the limited restoration work conducted after the 1980 Irpinia earthquake, still conserves its original seventeenth-eighteenth century characteristics: stone masonry walls, earthen floors and wooden beams. The interior is graced by the presence of a rather large cask which was used for the artisan wine production and conservation. This is a rustic, unpolished locale, where visitors find themselves in an atmosphere in sharp contrast with the typically rarefied, elegant settings of museums, galleries and event venues. cantina montone offers a view of the world of culture, running the gamut from visual arts, literature, cinema, photography, poetry and music to … wine.
