Active Chapter Update The Beta Gamma Chapter Started off the year by attending PKC with all the Executive Council for the next year. While at PKC we were fortunate enough to receive the Master Chapter, Alumni Initiation, Member Experience, and Silver Society awards as well as having our Archon, Antonio Burgess, recognized as the Archon of the Year for 2018. Following PKC, we began planning for our first ever War of the Roses event in which we put teams from different sororities up against each other in various competitions to win a trophy and bragging rights. This event went off as a huge success resulting in us raising over $5,800 for the Ability experience. Over Spring Break, we had six brothers attend annual Ability Camp at camp Twin Lakes down in Atlanta Georgia. While there they were refurbished benches as well as planted tulip, potato, and onion gardens for the camp later in the summer.

This summer we are looking forward to sending two of our brothers, Antonio Burgess and Mahfouz Batshoun, participating in Journey of Hope and Build America respectively.

War of the Roses As stated before, War of the Roses was a huge success both in fundraising and creating new relationships as the feedback we received was nothing short of glowing.

Our War of the Roses was planned out as a week long event that pitted the seven sorority teams against each other in five categories of competition which were Fundraising, Participation, Trivia Night, Field Day, and Talent Night all of which earning them points for how well they did culminating with our Roseball on Friday during which we crowned the winning team, Kappa Alpha Theta, and crowned our new Rose Queen, Regan Wakefield a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Following this successful week we are all very hopeful and excited to see what we will be able to achieve next Spring.

CHAPTER UPDATES

Summer Plans Antonio Burgess is going to be participating in the Journey of Hope summer event for the Ability Experience as a crew member. He is going to be going on the North route which is the route that starts in San Francisco and ends in Washington DC. He will be serving as Public Relations Intern during his time on the Journey of Hope crew. Mahfouz Batshoun will be attending the Build America summer event for the ability experience. This event will have him traveling all over the country taking on many projects at the various Ability Camps in order to provide the best and safest environment for the campers during their time there.

The Beta Gamma Chapter has a very high hopes for the upcoming years after receiving recognition at PKC in the form of all the awards that we won. These awards made the entire chapter eager to raise the bar and prove that no matter how successful we are, there is always room for improvement and we are willing to do what it takes to make that improvement happen. We also gained a lot of confidence running a very successful first time War of the Roses competition as well as sending the biggest delegation of our brothers we have ever sent to Raise Red the annual fundraiser run by the students of the University of Louisville to bring aid to the lives of children with cancer and their families.

Alumni Updates This summer we will be welcoming four new alumni members: Harley Ledbetter, Alexander Hardy, Parker McMillan, and Kurt Stegman Antonio (Right) and Mahfouz (Left) at our Roseball celebration.

We will also be focusing on getting the charter for our Alumni Chapter with Brent Pacanowski, our chapter advisor, being a very integral part in making that a smooth process.
