An Interview with our cover model:

Vanessa Frankenstein

Q: How did you get into pin up? A: “I have always loved Pin Up Style, but back when I was a grumpy teenage girl I was a little rebel and preferred a Goth/Punk style. Though, for special events I made sure to dress up in a pretty Pin Up dress. When I was 17, I came across Pin Up Girl Clothing and I fell in love with Micheline Pitt. At this time I was blonde and had Bettie bangs!”

Q: Why did you choose the name “Vanessa Frankenstein” ? A: “This was a snap decision. I always loved Mary Shelley’s creature and the original Castle of Frankenstein. Darmstadt, Germany (where the castle is located) is very close to where I live and I have been there on Halloween many times. Frankenstein is a great German name and I know somebody who is actually called Frankenstein and I used to be a bit envious.”

Q: What are some things people might not know about you? A: “I am half German, half Spanish. I’m studying English, American and German literature and culture in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In my spare time, I like to dance ballet and ride my motorcycle. I love classic horror and spooky things, as well as everything from the 1940’s to the 1960’s - especially the movies, fashion and music of these days.”

Q: What are you going to be for Halloween this year? A: “I don’t know for sure. I thought about Frankenstein’s bride. Last year me and my friends dressed up as Scooby Doo’s Mystery Inc. I was Daphne and this was a childhood dream come true.”

Q: We know you love horror & monsters, which are your favorites? A: “I always fell for the villain, I even had a Disney Villain Birthday party. My favorite horror movie... well this is a tough call, I love so many of them like Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Shining and of course Frankenstein. There are too many great horror movies. Well, my favorite monster is, of course, Frankenstein’s monster.”

Q: Before you go, can you share a pin up beauty tip for our readers? A: “For me, the most important thing when it comes to beauty are eyebrows. Giving them a nice and natural shape is so important. Even beautiful makeup can look bad when the eyebrows are a mess. By the way, this is one thing I love about all 1950’s beauties - they are all blessed with beautiful brows.”
