Q: “What is it like to be a Pin-up Model?”
A: Pin-Up modeling is a wonderful experience for professionals and amateurs alike. It can be whatever you want it to be. From what you wear to what poses you make depend entirely on the kind of shoot you feel is right for you. Many studios will let you decide what you want to wear and some studios have costume pieces you can pick through. You can wear anything from a full dress with gloves to cute lingerie or a swimsuit. Doing a Pin-Up shoot is a huge confidence booster. There is no body type that doesn’t work for Pin-Up. From petite to curvy, with the right look and poses to accentuate your best parts, a Pin-Up shoot will have you looking and feeling great!
Q: “How Do I Get Pin-Up girl ready?”
A: Hair for a Pin-Up shoot can range from simple to elaborate; there are so many styles to choose from. Sometimes your hair style will be dependant on the era of your Pin-Up look. There are distinct looks from each time period of Pin-Up. If you are looking for something authentic, do your homework. There are great resources on the web, including www.pinuphairstyles.com, or in book form: Vintage Hairstyling by Lauren Rennells. From the finger wave in the 1920’s to the bouffant of the 1960’s, there are fun and unique styles to pick from. I personally feel that the iconic look of the Pin-Up is the 1940’s/1950’s victory roll. This can be achieved in a few ways, depending on your hair type. For thicker hair, such as mine, I blow dry it full, make a side part, and then separate the front section into three parts. Take each part and backcomb, or tease it rather big. Then take the outermost layer of the roll and comb it smooth. Roll it under and pin down, the add hairspray. For the back of your hair, use rollers or a curling iron to make full curls. For those with thinner hair, use a curling iron to create a roll and then pin down. It works effectively, but usually creates a smaller roll. If all this DIY hair stresses you out, talk to your studio! Many studios have a hairstylist on call to help you out for an added cost.

Want that cute Pin-Up pucker face look? An easy way to achieve this look while still looking relaxed and natural is to blow out air gently through your lips while the picture is being snapped. Imagine blowing out a candle. Pucker up Ladies! 8
