Intravenous infusions are the hottest wellness trend

An emerging trend in the wellness space promises to help people rehydrate, replenish, and recover with intravenous infusions of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that put a new bounce in their step.

The multibillion-dollar industry has adherents who swear by the various types of infusions available to relieve hangovers and jet lag, help with weight loss, promote wellness, and more.

“The intravenous and intramuscular injection process works by providing a dose of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids and electrolytes,” according to information provided by Sandy Saad, operations supervisor at REVIV Cayman. “Infusions and injections bypass the digestive tract, which allows the body to absorb 100 percent of all nutrients and hydration.”

Among the most commonly requested infusions at the clinic in the Grand Pavilion Commercial Center, according to Sandy, are named the Royal Flush and the Megaboost.

They combine vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids and electrolytes with other ingredients to boost immune function, increase energy, mental clarity and overall health and wellbeing, according to information from REVIV.

“I had the cold of my life the last few days. I was full-on flu mode … so I decided to try the Royal Flush, and wow! I woke up today a new woman,” client Jessica Mauer says in a written testimonial. “I could feel this working so quickly. I can’t believe what this treatment did for me in less than 24 hours.”

The Royal Flush delivers two litres of fluid and is recommended as the top IV therapy for those suffering from an extreme hangover, food poisoning, colds and flu-like symptoms, allergies and exhaustion.

The Megaboost, with its high dose of Vitamin C, is meant to aid recovery from jet lag, detoxify the body and boost the immune system, as well as increase strength and energy. Other infusions are recommended to improve the appearance of hair, skin and nails and for overall detoxifying from free radicals that can cause damage to cells.

Wellness at REVIV

REVIV offers five infusions, ranging from those “for the athlete who needs to rehydrate and rebalance their body, or the hard-driving executive who is run down and jet-lagged, to the woman who wants to stop time and look her best, or anyone who has overindulged,” notes Sandy.

Booster shots to promote wellness, weight loss and fitness are also available, she says.

The REVIV company was started in 2011 by four emergency room physicians with a combined 40 years of clinical experience. Its first location was in Miami’s South Beach, and now it has many locations internationally.

“Infusions and injections bypass the digestive tract, which allows the body to absorb 1OO percent of all nutrients and hydration.”

In Grand Cayman, REVIV has been open since 2016. The clinic sees clients returning every four to six weeks, on average, says Sandy. There are also many walk-in clients, she adds.

REVIV also provides concierge service - bringing IV infusion services to homes, hotel rooms or even a beach cabana, from South Sound to West Bay.

Infusion therapy to improve patient health, almost always in hospital, dates back to the 19th century. These days, IV infusions for health and wellbeing take place in a spa-like atmosphere, typically within about 45 minutes to an hour, including the time to sign in and complete a medical intake form and health screening. “This allows us to decide whether or not the individual is a suitable candidate for our therapies,” says Sandy. “If the client has been approved by our medical director and our registered nurse, we proceed. Together, we decide which treatment is most suitable for their needs.

“In some cases,” she says, “our clients will receive only intramuscular injections. The process is incredibly fast, and the client is on their way to enjoy the rest of their day.”

Those who choose an infusion that may take more time in the private clinic can sit back and relax, taking advantage of the clinic’s free Wi-Fi, or watch a movie or TV show on Netflix.

“REVIV will most certainly be a frequent place for me,” says client Jessica, who notes how much better she felt just one day after treatment for her flu-like symptoms. “I think I found a new addiction!” Visit revivme.com/grand-cayman
