Ways To Support
Together with many other arts organisations throughout the UK, PFT has been adversely affected by unprecedented funding cuts. To sustain the large scale, high quality productions for which PFT is justly renowned, we need to raise an additional £300,000 each and every year from 2011 onwards. That’s why, in addition to developing fresh commercial opportunities, we launched a range of new fundraising initiatives in January of 2011.
Those initiatives include: 01796 484626
• The Festival Circle, to make it easier for those of you who would like to become donors. • The John Stewart Society, for those of you who would like to commit to higher levels of regular giving.
PitlochryFestivalTheatre.com
• A revised Friends membership scheme, offering a range of benefits to those who visit PFT regularly. See page 23 for details. 14 • A Legacy programme, to enable our supporters to leave a gift to the Theatre in their Will (contact Box Office for details). • An easyfundraising campaign, a simple yet brilliant online fundraising scheme for charities like PFT, which generates donations from participating retailers (not you!) whenever you make an online purchase (full details at www.easyfundraising.org.uk)
The Festival Circle A huge round of applause - and our sincere thanks - to the almost 1,000 patrons who have become our first Festival Circle donors since January 2011 . . . and raised over £110,000 in the process! This new donor programme has been designed to make it easy for you to donate any amount to PFT to help it produce its acclaimed Summer Season, develop the repertoire and support the range of productions if offers.
“A joyful and life-enhancing asset to Scottish theatre… And it’s safe to say that there is no other theatre in Scotland, now, remotely as well equipped as Pitlochry to present My Fair Lady, or any show like it.” Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman, 2011
The John Stewart Society The 10 founding members of The John Stewart Society have earned a standing ovation for pledging support of almost £100,000 to PFT over the next three years. With membership limited to just 100 people at any time, The John Stewart Society provides a select group of supporters with an opportunity to make an important contribution to the development of PFT’s reputation for excellence and to help shape its future.
Unlike theatres in major cities which have a mostly local audience base, our supporters tend to be more widely geographically dispersed. In recognition of this, The John Stewart Society programme will be personalised to ensure that all members get the most from their membership, however frequently they visit Pitlochry. If you would like to find out more about The John Stewart Society, please get in touch with our General Managers, Fran Norris and Annie Hibberd, on 01796 484600.
01796 484626
To become a Festival Circle donor, please pick up a donation form from the Box Office or download one from our website at www.PitlochryFestivalTheatre.com
In recognition of this support, each member will be offered a tailored programme of stimulating and enjoyable opportunities, providing special insights into the life of the Theatre. We want those who join The John Stewart Society to become informed and highly valued members of the PFT family.
15 PitlochryFestivalTheatre.com
We are especially keen to encourage regular contributions from Festival Circle donors – quarterly, monthly, or annually – so that we can plan ahead with confidence, knowing exactly what funds are available to invest in PFT’s work. The recent cuts to our funding have threatened PFT’s ability to continue to deliver sumptuous, large cast productions like My Fair Lady, An Ideal Husband and The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie – so the regular support of Festival Circle donors is going to be vital to PFT’s future.
What they said about last year’s panto, Cinderella: “It was simply the best panto we have seen in many years with all the traditional ingredients yet modern in its own way” Sheila & Doug Buttenshaw

Presented by the Dunfermline Gilbert and Sullivan Society An opera of comedy, splendid confusion and political satire, based on the love between a lowly shepherd, Strephon, and Phyllis, a ward of court who is also adored by the Lord Chancellor and the entire House of Lords, who naturally oppose their marriage. Strephon’s mother, Iolanthe, happens to be a fairy and together with the Fairy Queen and all the fairy ring, they play havoc with the Upper House until all is resolved at the final curtain! Gilbert & Sullivan were at the height of their creative powers when writing Iolanthe, their seventh collaboration. When I Went To The Bar; The Law Is The True Embodiment, The Nightmare Song and When Britain Really Ruled The Waves are all well-loved songs - and the finale to Act I is probably the best in the repertoire! Swan Lake Ballet West
01796 484626
Using Tchaikovsky’s stirring score and a moving adaptation of the original choreography, Swan Lake is one of the most famous and best loved of all classical ballet works. Swan Lake is a wonderfully dark story of an impossible love affair between a prince and a beautiful swan maiden. On the eve of his 21st birthday, the prince escapes his royal duty by running into a moonlit forest. He finds a lake of enchanted swans, falling in love with their beautiful but doomed queen, Odette.
He cannot free her from the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart and, in the final act, the lovers plunge into the depths of a magic lake to be reunited in death. Ballet West is an established ballet company that uses a mix of professional dancers with students in the final stages of their dance training. Over recent years, the company has developed a significant reputation for producing very high quality classical ballet, which is developing loyal audiences in venues throughout Scotland and overseas.

The Philadelphia Story, 2007
More on Corney & Barrow Established 1766 in Ayr and originally named Oliphant and Co., Corney & Barrow quickly became the west coast of Scotland’s major importer of wine, port and sherry, all shipped in its own vessels which plied their trade on the sea routes of Europe. Their wine cellars, built at the inception of the company, are the oldest commercial cellars in Scotland and it is highly likely that that the local customs officer, a young Mr. Robert Burns, would have been a regular visitor! The cellars are still very much in use today storing Corney & Barrow Scotland’s private customers’ reserves.
By Royal Appointment Corney & Barrow’s Royal Warrants date back to 1912, when they were first introduced during the reign of George V. Royal Warrants are a mark of recognition to individuals or companies who have supplied goods or services for at least five years to the Royal family. Warrants have always been regarded as demonstrations of excellence and quality and are highly prized.
