ON A QUEST FOR GODLINESS Thousands of men checked in at Quest Conferences this fall, stepping up to the challenge of living a life of adventure with Jesus. There are still four more Quest Conferences to go as we head into 2017, and the excitement is building across Canada as we anticipate all that God is going to do in men’s lives over the coming months. Meanwhile, churches continue to partner with us to host Legacy Equipping Conferences for men. These one day events feature seminars on a variety of topics, including the well-received Blueprint Leadership Training. Several churches are also hosting workshops to equip their men even further.

DURING A CALL with a donor this past spring, we spoke with a single mother who was trying to support her three sons alone. Her marriage ended because of pornography, and as a result she reached out to Promise Keepers Canada and is using our resources as she strives to raise her sons to be pornography free. One of our staff followed up with her, to pray with her and find out how we can continue to support, equip and encourage her to raise her sons to be godly men. When you support Promise Keepers Canada, you are not only impacting the lives of men, but also the lives of single moms and father-absent sons.

I WALKED UP to a group of young men following an Identity workshop in Winkler, Manitoba. One of them made a comment about his family and that he was the only Christian. I encouraged him to keep witnessing to them even if it was only by how he lived. I then said to him that God will work things out and shared very briefly how my dad after 25 years of us of praying for him became a Christian, and how my mom after 34 years of us of praying for her also became a Christian. He looked at me and said, “I believe I came to this workshop to hear what you just shared with me.” You just never know what is going to impact a guy.

Adam, after knowing the disappointment of being estranged for years and now reunited with his son: MY SON HAS been asking questions about God, for about the last month. . . When these elements are repeated again and again, transformation begins to occur and a man continues his growth towards becoming the man God has designed him to be.

n Friday night, the speaker challenged men to come out of spiritual hiding in response to God’s question to men: “Where are you?” I was sitting beside two of my sons as men filled the front of the auditorium and aisles – all the way to the back. It was so powerful to see men being honest with God and with each other. They gathered as groups and began to pray for each other – many staying together in prayer for quite some time. I looked at my sons and both of them were in awe of what they were witnessing. I explained to them how God was working in the lives of these men, and that they would never be the same again. One man who attended the event told me how he was up very late that night talking with two men who did not
know Jesus, but who were significantly impacted during the conference. They spoke into the early hours of the morning as these men professed their desire to begin following Jesus. On Saturday, the energy amongst the men was very strong. They were hungry to learn and to worship. Hundreds of young men participated in a special break out session with recording artist, Manafest. During this session, these young men were challenged in pursuing God’s dream for their life. After the session was over, many of the young men stayed in the room and lined up for a long period of time just to have the opportunity to speak with Manafest and have him pray for them. The closing session of the conference was a moment where men were challenged to fulfill the Great Commission – Go and make disciples. I heard stories from men who realized,
for the first time, they can do this. Men were inspired and practically equipped to leave and point others to Jesus. Through a partnership with the Gideons, men were challenged to take a Bible and give it away to someone they want to invite to explore Jesus. This fall more than 4,500 Bibles were taken by men to give away to others as we obey the command to “Go!” On a personal level, my life was stirred as I once again encountered the life changing power and grace of our Heavenly Father. As a father, I’m forever grateful. My sons who attended this conference were profoundly impacted – including one of my sons setting up a time to have coffee with one of the speakers to process more of what God was starting to do in his own life.
