SUMMER MINISTRY UPDATE

BUILDING A NEW GENERATION OF GODLY MEN “I started to go to the Promise Keepers conference about 12 or 13 years ago and my vision for men started with PK. Building a new generation of godly men on the word of God is my ministry foundation. Men must take up the courage to fight against secularism to lead and to serve at home, at work, and at church. This year there will be sixteen of us coming to the Promise Keepers Conference. Every year I lead a few men to this event.” // PASTOR DEYI WEI, WINNIPEG CHINESE ALLIANCE CHURCH

T

his is the email that was sent to me by Pastor Deyi Wei from the Winnipeg Chinese Alliance Church. He, and so many others, have captured the vision of the importance of building godly men.

We are now half way through 2016, and we want to share with you a glimpse of what God has been doing so far this year through your support, and what to look forward to in the second half of the year.

We are grateful to God for men and women like you—people who are investing in building men through your prayers, your time, and your financial support. As a ministry, we are focused on the vision to see every man becoming, growing, and living as a disciple of Jesus. We are grateful to God for men and women like you — people who are investing in building men through your prayers, your time, and your financial support.

Your brother in Christ,

Kirk Giles President

As we head into the summer months, we need your help to meet our financial needs. Help us keep our head above water with a special gift.

CONFERENCES UPDATE

DEALING WITH MORAL DECLINE

“An awesome weekend each time I’ve gone. Excellent speakers, amazing worship, and tons of great merchandise that has helped me a lot! I would recommend all men attend this event, Christian or not!”

Earlier this spring, we set an ambitious goal of raising $25,000 to develop ministry tools in response to the changing morality around us. We are pleased to let you know that through your financial support we have achieved our target! Below is an update on the status of the resources:

GREATER

LEGACY

The theme for this year’s conferences was “Greater”. Every man wants to know his life counts for something. He wants to know that there is a greater purpose and plan than the everyday routines and trials he experiences. At the Greater Conferences men were reminded that contrary to what the world teaches, greatness begins and ends with Jesus, and that by His grace, He invites and empowers us to a “Greater” life.

In addition to our theme conferences, we’ve created special one day events that combine a large event experience with focused workshops on a variety of topics. This past year a number churches partnered with us to host Legacy events. We added several new workshops, including our Blueprint leadership training seminar which showed a large interest from pastors and men’s ministry leaders.

MEN ATTENDED GREATER AND LEGACY CONFERENCES.

“Another excellent experience. Dynamic and challenging speakers who dig deep into the things that hold us back as men, and then offer guideposts to move past them.” // Anonymous “I have always loved PK conferences but this one event has pushed me to be greater for the Glory of God. For his will to be done, not my will. This event has been a great event and God bless all involved.” // Anonymous “These men’s conferences have been a great blessing for us here in Atikokan. I have seen some of our men make greater commitments to walk with Christ, and become a greater blessing to their families.” // Pastor Brad

MEN HAVING AN IMPACT D.R. MISSIONS TRIP This past April, a group of 11 men from across Canada returned to Hato Neuvo, Dominican Republic to do construction work on another Christian school in the area. Some of the men had been a part of last year’s trip and got to see the progress on the school they worked on last year.

“We all agreed that it was a rewarding week all around, and that we all left changed and blessed by God.” // D.R. TRIP PARTICIPANT

THE FATHERLESS PROJECT One of the most exciting developments over the past year has been the early-stage implementation of a mentoring initiative to serve at-risk inner city youth involved with gangs and guns in Ottawa. The partnership between Love Ottawa and The Fatherless Project began at an informal meeting last December, and has now developed into theCODE: the City of Ottawa Discipling Enterprise. The goal of theCODE is to leave no son behind and create a model that will be viable, sustainable, and transferable to other communities across Canada.

“The presence of a godly Mentor/ Coach in the challenging lives of our youth as they battle many current realities, will be one of the most significant contributions to a successful and meaningful future for our sons, our families, our communities and for our city.” // THECODE PLAYBOOK

We ask for your continued prayers and financial support as other cities and communities are asking for our help in developing similar initiatives.

BLUEPRINT COURSE This past May, Kirk had the privilege of teaching a Bible College/Seminary course on Men’s Ministry. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time this has ever happened in Canada. We’re grateful for the vision of Rick Reed and Heritage College & Seminary to see this happen in partnership with Promise Keepers Canada.
