Yr hyn sy’n bwysig : Iechyd - Mae gan yr ardal broblemau iechyd difrifol a llawer o rheiny yn hir dymor. Rwy’n poeni fod y niferoedd sy’n dioddef o afiechyd y galon a’r fogfa yn uchel. Rhaid sicrhau ein bod yn gwasanaethu’r bobol yn y ffordd orau posib gyda chynnydd yn y ddarpariaeth gymunedol a gynigir. Rhaid gofyn y cwestiwn, pam, mewn pentre’ mor fawr â Brynaman mai dim ond ar 4 bore’r wythnos mae’n bosib i weld doctor? Pam nad oes syrjeri hwyr?

Gofal i’r henoed - Mae’n bwysig gofalu am y bobol sydd wedi cyfrannu’n helaeth i’n cymdeithas ond sydd bellach eisiau help. Mae’n rhaid i’r gofal yma fod o’r radd flaena’ - nenwedig os mai dewis yr unigolyn yw aros ar yr aelwyd gartre’. Mae’n ofid nad oes ‘Tai Cysgodol’ ymhob un o’r pentrefi. Rhaid gofyn pam? Onid yw’n ofynnol fod y lefel ucha’ a phob math o ofal ar gael.

Yr ifanc – diolch am y bobol ifainc sy’n dewis aros yma, ond mae’n rhaid sicrhau fod tai fforddiadwy ar gael ac adnoddau hamdden sy’ heb fod yn rhy bell. Hefyd dyw sefydlu busnesau bychain ddim yn amhosibl - busnes yn y cartre’ efallai gan ddefnyddio’r dechnoleg ddiweddara’. Byddai cyngor da yn fuddiol.

Hewlydd - Mae’r hen ddiwydiannau mawr trwm wedi diflannu a does dim llawer o waith ar garreg y drws.

Mae’n rhaid felly sicrhau buddsoddiad digonol i wella’n system hewlydd. Gan fod canran uchel o’r gweithle yn gorfod teithio milltiroedd i’w gwaith rhaid trio gwneud y siwrne’n fwy hwylus. Hefyd mae prinder palmentydd mewn rhannau o bentre’ Brynaman yn ofid, gan fod yr hewlydd yma i fod yn ddiogel ar gyfer y plant sy’n cerdded i’r ysgol.

Llwybrau – Ers i’r sir gymryd y cyfrifoldeb o ofalu am y llwybrau cyhoeddus mae’r gwaith cynnal a chadw yn ddiffygiol ac annigonol.

What’s important : Health - We have dire health problems and many are long term. I am concerned that there are higher than average incidences of Coronary Heart Disease and Asthma. Access to health facilities can act as a barrier and demonstrates a need for more community based provision. I must ask why is it that in such a large community as Brynaman it is only possible to see a doctor on 4 mornings every week? Why is there no evening surgery?

Care for the elderly - It’s important to provide care for the people who have contributed greatly to our community. This must be of the highest possible standard - especially when the individual’s wish is to remain in their own home. It concerns me that we have no sheltered accommodation in all of the three villages. We must ask why is this? Isn’t it paramount that the highest level and all kinds of care are on offer?

The young - Thanks for those young people who choose to stay in the area. We must strive to ensure affordable housing and leisure facilities that are within reach. Also setting up a small business is not impossible – possibly a home based business using the latest technology. Good advice must be available Roads - The old traditional heavy industries are gone and there is very little opportunity for work locally. We must therefore prioritise sufficient investment in order to improve the road networks. As a high percentage travel some distance to work we must strive to make it easier to commute. Also parts of the village of Brynaman have no pavements, and these are supposedly on the safe walk to school route.

Parking - Off road parking in certain areas needs to be seriously addressed.

Footpaths - Since the county took over the responsibility for the community’s footpaths the quality of upkeep is unacceptable and inadequate.

Mae Glynog Davies yn falch o ddweud ei fod e’n foi o Frynaman. Yn fab i löwr mae’n ymwybodol iawn o gefndir diwydiannol yr ardal a’r problemau iechyd a aeth law yn llaw â’r diwydiant glo. Mae’n un o’r bobol, ac mae pobol yn bwysig iddo fe. Mae ei gonsyrn dros y bobol – yr hen a’r ifanc yn ddigwestiwn.

Glynog Davies is always proud of the fact that he is a Brynaman boy. The son of a miner he’s conscious of the area’s industrial past and the health issues that are a consequence of our mining history. He is a people’s person and his concern for his fellow man – the old and the young is unquestionable.

Ar wahan i gyfnod byr yng Nghaerdydd tra’n fyfyriwr mae wedi treulio ei oes gyfan yng Nghymuned Cwarter Bach. Graddiodd gydag anrhydedd o Goleg Prifysgol Cymru, Caerdydd, gan ennill radd anrhydedd dda yn y gwyddorau. Er iddo ddilyn cwrs diploma mewn addysg, a llwyddo, mae wedi treulio ei oes ym myd y cyfryngau yng Nghymru:

Apart from the time he spent at Cardiff whilst a student he has spent the whole of his working life in the Quarter Bach Community. He is a science honours graduate of the University of Wales, Cardiff, and has a diploma in education but for the past 38 years has been employed in the Welsh media.

 Un o’r criw bychan a sefydlodd Sain Abertawe - radio annibynnol gynta’ Cymru  Cynrychiolydd HTV yng Ngorllewin Cymru am 6 blynyedd - yn wyneb cyfarwydd ar raglenni Y Dydd a Report Wales Pan sefydlwyd S4C yn 1982 roedd yn aelod o dîm materion cyfoes y Byd ar Bedwar, bu’n cyflwyno o’r Eisteddfodau Cenedlaethol, ac o’r Sioe Frenhinol

 

One of the small team who established Swansea Sound – Wales’ first commercial radio station HTV’s news representative in West Wales for 6 years – an on screen reporter for the programmes Y Dydd and Report Wales.

When S4C was established in 1982 he was an original member of the Byd ar Bedwar current affairs team. He also presented programmes from Wales’ National Eisteddfodau and the Royal Welsh Show.

Trwy gydol y cyfnod roedd Glynog yn dal i fyw ym Mrynaman, ag yn weithgar yn ei gymuned. Ar ddiwedd yr 80au roedd yn un sylfaenwyr Cwmni Teledu Agenda, yn adnabyddus y dyddiau yma fel Tinopolis, sydd a’i ganolfan yn Sir Gâr. Roedd yn bwysig iddo i ddod a’r diwydiant teledu i Orllewin Cymru gan roi cyfleoedd da am waith i bobol ifanc yr ardal.

For the whole of his career Glynog has lived in Brynaman and remained active in community life. He was one of a group that established Agenda Television, known today as Tinopolis, which has its base in Carmarthenshire.

Having a branch of the television industry in West Wales has given local young people the opportunity of employment in an exciting industry.

Elusennau : Yn flynyddol mae’n cynorthwyo i godi miloedd o arian i wahanol elusennau. Mae’n is-lywydd o Gôr Lleisiau’r Llan ac yn y 10 mlynedd ddiwetha’ codwyd £100,000 i Hosbis Tŷ Bryngwyn ac Uned Cancr y Fron Ysbyty’r Tywysog Phillip.

Glynog y dyn teulu Mae’r uned deuluol yn bwysig i Glynog. Mae’n sefyll yn yr etholiad gyda chefnogaeth lwyr ei deulu. Mae’n briod ac Eira sy’n un o ferched y pentre. Bu’n Brifathrawes ar Ysgol Babanod y Twyn, Garnant ac Ysgol Feithrin Rhydaman. Mae eu mab Iestyn yn ddoctor teulu yng Nghlydach ac mae e’ a’i wraig Rhian newydd gael eu babi cynta’ – Cadi Fflur sy’n 5 mis oed.

Glynog a’r ysgol leol Fel Cadeirydd Llywodraethwyr Ysgol Brynaman fy nod yw sicrhau y bydd yr adnoddau gorau posib ar gael ar gyfer ein plant gyda’r ysgol yn cynnig addysg gynhwysfawr y tu mewn a thu allan i’r dosbarth. Ysgol Gynradd Brynaman oedd y gynta’ yn Sir Gâr i dderbyn 7 gradd 1 mewn arolwg.

Glynog with Jonathan Edwards MP

An elder and organist at Moriah Chapel. Also involved with children’s work Secretary of the local Free Church Council and the Brynaman Cymanfa Ganu (Singing Festival) Former conductor of the Brynaman and District Mixed Choir and often invited to conduct various singing festivals  A member of the local drama company – Y Gwter Fawr  Was a member of the Community Council for 10 years  A popular after dinner speaker with various societies  A trustee of the Brynaman Aelwyd and the Presbyterian Church of Wales For his contribution to the culture of Wales in his locality he was honoured by the National Eisteddfod of Wales and was ordained into the Order of Druids.

Charities : Helps annually to raise thousands for various charities. As Deputy President of Côr Lleisiau’r Llan has assisted the choir over the past 10 years to raise over £100,000 for the Tŷ Bryngwyn Hospice and the Breast Care Unit at Llanelli’s Prince Phillip Hospital.

Glynog the family man The family unit is very important to Glynog. He presents himself as a candidate for this election with the full support of his family. He is married to Eira, who also hails form Brynaman. Their son Iestyn is a family doctor at Clydach and he and his wife Rhian have one daughter, Cadi Fflur who is 5 months old.

Glynog and the local school As chair of the Governing Body at Brynaman Primary School my aim is to provide the best resources so that the children receive a comprehensive education within and outside the classroom environment. Brynaman Primary was the first in Carmarthenshire to receive 7 grade 1’s in an inspection.
