Siân Gwenllian is eager to be your new voice in the Welsh Assembly, standing up for Arfon and North Wales. • She worked as a journalist for the BBC and HTV in Bangor before becoming county councillor for Y Felinheli, the village where she grew up. She is Gwynedd’s Small Business Champion and has previously led on Education and Finance. • Siân raised four children on her own after her husband, Dafydd Vernon from Penygroes, died of cancer 16 years ago. This was a huge challenge but has made her strong and compassionate. The children all went to school in Caernarfon. • Educated at Ysgol Friars in Bangor and at Aberystwyth and Cardiff universities, she is wellknown throughout the constituency as an effective, approachable and principled politician.

Putting ARFON first
Fair play for North Wales
Siân at the Assembly with Plaid Cymru Leader, Leanne Wood • Siân will fight for you and your family, for Arfon and for North Wales. Under the current Welsh Labour Government, the North is being left behind. Everything is going to Cardiff and the M4 corridor. Siân will make sure that North Wales is not forgotten. • The economy, health services and education all need urgent attention. Only Plaid politicians like Siân will work hard, putting the North on the map again and making Wales a proud and confident nation. • She is the natural successor to Alun Ffred Jones, Arfon’s current AM, who’s retiring. She will work with Plaid’s Hywel Williams, who was re-elected as Arfon MP last May. • Siân has made her mark as an effective campaigner and community champion. She helped make sure that there will be no pylons over the Menai Straits, cares passionately about Welsh culture and has led many community projects.
By voting for Siân on May 5, you can make sure that YOU will have a strong, new voice in Cardiff: a person determined to improve the lives of our people.

Siân’s Priorities HEALTH • Training doctors and health workers. I would fight for a local Medical School, to train local young people to be doctors and other health workers who can work in our local hospitals and in our communities. • We must also maintain core services at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor making sure no clinics move eastwards.
JOBS • We need to make sure that more public sector contracts go to local firms and that work on the new Caernarfon-Bontnewydd by-pass brings as much local benefit as possible. • We need to support local businesses so that they can grow and take on more staff. We need jobs for our young people, encouraging entrepreneurship. We need to support agriculture and tourism and develop the links between the University and business. • Why do so many Government jobs have to be in Cardiff? I would push for moving jobs to Arfon to give us a fair slice of the devolution cake.
FAIRNESS The Party of Wales, insists that • every child gets the best start in life and an excellent education, • we protect pensioners’ rights. • we support the most vulnerable in our society. • we create a fairer, greener and more prosperous country for future Welsh generations.
