ESF West Island School is a world class co-educational IB World School. The school motto “Strength from Diversity” reflects that the school caters for students from over 40 nationalities. Our mission is to provide an all-rounded education for the total development of our students, encompassing moral, intellectual, physical, social, and aesthetic aspects. Curriculum: Under the new senior secondary (NSS) academic structure introduced in 2009, all students will study a three-year senior secondary curriculum after completing the three-year junior secondary curriculum. They will then sit for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), which was introduced in 2012 to replace the former Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination and Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination. Subject to satisfactory performance in the HKDSE, students will continue their studies at local universities for four years.
Medium of Instruction: All subjects are to be taught in English except for Chinese Language, where Putonghua is used at levels S.1 to S3, and Cantonese at levels above S.3. For non-Chinese speaking students, Chinese as a Second Language is taught in Cantonese in S1 to S3 and Cantonese/Putonghua in S4 to S5.

Admission Process: Kent College Hong Kong welcomes pupils from all backgrounds. Pupils can join Kent College Hong Kong in Form 6 for international A-Level courses. Pupils can choose between the full school experience, or enrol onto a single A-Level subject. Applicants will have a meeting with the Principal of aKCess or a member of the Senior Leadership Team, attend a taster lesson, and meet with the Admissions team. All pupils are required to complete entrance exams before a place can be offered.
Where Students Go: Upon completion of our A-Level programmes, we expect our pupils to attend iAL examinations (which can be taken in Hong Kong or overseas) which is recognized by universities worldwide.
