the sexy summer issue Sponsored by FFFWeek.com Live Passionately.... It’s time to drop the sweaters and coats for more exciting threads. We are so excited about our Sexy Summer Issue. This month our Fashion Director Reah Norman, gives us a special treat in the Venice Beach editorial featuring the beautiful Emily Nichols. Its a new day... so read up on the ‘Stylists Secrets’ and reinvent your summer wardrobe for a summer of sexy fun!
As I grow older and experience more in life, I realize that looking at life as a voyeur is not living at all. I meet so many women who live vicariously through others social media pages, not realizing they are just wasting their own valuable time. We are meant to be present in our lives and do those things that truly make us happy. We may not have control over the things that happen to us, but we have control over how we react to them. Live passionately and allow yourself to experience something new.

Palmer’s, Cocoa Butter Formula Complete Stretch Mark Care Set
I do have a few stretch marks that I’d like to erase if I could, but I can’t... so my ‘go to’ alternative is this kit. It comes with 3 great products that really do work, and leaves your skin so hydrated.
Benefit Cosmetics, They’re Real! Mascara
I don’t have the longest lashes in the land so when I’m not wearing fake lashes or getting lash extensions, I use this... a jet-black mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts, and separates lashes for a spectacular ‘out-to-here’ look. Spectrum, Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil
I use this on my hair as a hot oil treatment, a scalp moisturizer, a hair softener, even on my skin... just everywhere! It simply keeps your hair and skin soft, radiant and healthy.
Borghese, Fango
This exclusive mineralenriched mud mask is sourced from Tuscany’s volcanic hills. It energizes and nourishes skin cells on the face and body.

JENIPAPO In the magnificent Cerrado region of Brazil blooms a majestic tree: jenipapo. Its golden flowers brighten the landscape and fill the air with a floral-fruity fragrance. To pay tribute to this tree of the sun, L’OCCITANE created the Jenipapo range, featuring sun care products for the face and body made with extracts of this flower with protecting and hydrating properties. of the most popular places in the world... Venice beach, California, where people from all walks of life come together, nothing you see is a surprise, and absolutely anything goes! Venice’s quaint canals, lively boardwalk, colorful graffiti walls, and gorgeous sunset were the perfect backdrop for our ultimate ode to summer with amazing plus size model, Emily Nichols. My inspiration for this shoot was the ultimate California girl vibe- sexy, bohemian, free spirited, and a vibrant, unapologetic attitude that leaves you craving the dog days of summer. Color galore, aztec prints, kimonos, pattern on pattern, gauzy fabrications, shorts, straw hats, and crop tops and bikinis that are easy to throw on under your outfit for a day in the sun are everything that California dreams are made of! Also in this month’s issue, Shopping & Style Editor, Alissa has picked some of the best hot weather trends in plus size fashion with
“Trendy Summer Style”, and I have brought you my stylist secrets for “Creating a Chic & Smart Summer Wardrobe”. Our fashion contributor, Monique has highlighted playful “Beach Bum Essentials” for a festive day in the sun and sand. On a beauty note, Tara has highlighted “Wearable Summer Trends” in hair and makeup, straight from the runway, that are fresh, effortless, and summer chic. I hope the SoCal vibe of this month’s issue inspires you to celebrate your summer style by trying a new color, print, style, or silhouette that is outside your comfort zone… crop top, shorts, bikini!? Go for it, girl!

Nancy Herkul is the fashion mastermind behind the sexy plus-size clothing line Curvezz, curvezz.com. From the onset, her bold style and commitment to our curves was evident. This month we get closer to Curvezz, where Style Is Not Defined By Size. Can you tell us a little about yourself? I was born in Suriname, and relocated to Holland when I was just one year old to live with my Aunt, in the hope of a better life. When I was eight, I was reunited with my parents in Suriname again and was happy to be there to learn more about the Country that I was born; I stayed there until I was 25, before returning to The Netherlands, where I now live with my husband and son. I love fashion, 5-star experiences, quality goods and shopping. The empowerment of women is something I advocate and am honored to teach the young women in my country, as well as design, manage and run Curvezz. Did you always want to be a designer? I immersed myself in fashion after a car accident a few years ago, where I injured my back badly, and as a result I put on a lot of weight. It was then I realized how hard it was to buy nice clothing for plus size women. I would often re-design pieces to fit my body shape and knew that there was such a demand for beautiful, feminine, sophisticated plus size clothing—Europe just did not cater to that market.
I was determined to make a difference, so I bought machine and taught myself to sew - in April 2012, was born. I am self-taught, I did not go to a fashio school, but I instead did courses in sewing, drawing styling. How would you describe Curvezz?

“Style is not defined by size,” is our mantra - a bran designed for women who like strong and powerful s whilst still keeping a feminine and sexy edge. The b focuses on quality and the right fit when designing for women of curves. What type of woman is wearing Curvezz? A Curvezz woman is bold and confident about who she is and where she is going in her life. She embraces her curves and loves to look fabulous. She adores fashion and standing out in a crowd for all the right reasons. What do you hope to see in the future of fashion for plus size women? I hope to see many more designers, with all their different styles and qualities, catering to women of size. There are so many ‘straight’ size designers all over the world providing their different styles for all kinds of different women and tastes. Just because women are over a size 12, does not mean we all like the same thing, so I hope to see many more designers catering to women of all sizes. Visit online at curvezz.com

How long have you been blogging? I launched my blog in January 2014 but did not start posting looks until March, so it is very recent. The response has been extremely positive and overwhelming. The part I enjoy the most about blogging is waking up to heartfelt messages from other women inspired by my work. On a professional level, I have already been invited by industry professionals to Denmark, England and Germany. I am very excited to have sparked PLUS Model Magazine’s interest at such an early stage. I have been following your publication for quite some time all the way from Paris, France and was completely speechless to see myself ranked #7 on your list of 25 Fashion Bloggers to Follow on Instagram. To now be the first Fashion Blogger featured in the magazine is just surreal. I am so grateful!

Where do you love to shop? The plus-size market is still very new in Europe, so I am always looking forward to going back to New York. Forever 21 is great for cute basics, Lane Bryant is definitely another style destination of mine. The current Isabel Toledo capsule collection truly counts some gems! Nothing beats SoHo boutiques for unique jewelry and accessories, especially vintage. For those of you who are not familiar with European brands, I am happy to recommend some of my favorites...

For a fresh and casual look, JIULY PARIS has a beautiful range of products. I had not worn jeans in years and it seems they reconciled me with pants! If you aren’t afraid to unleash your inner rock star, ZIZZI is the way to go. Fabrics and fit are great, and the gorgeous Denise Bidot really does the brand justice in their latest campaign. IGIGI and ASOS Curve have a gorgeous selection of cocktail dresses and evening wear overall. NEW LOOK always has amazing pumps. Do you prefer online shopping or in-store?

Though I am an avid online shopper, there is nothing like a brick and mortar experience for me. With the ridiculous amount of time I spend behind my computer as a blogger, going shopping is almost like flying to some exotic destination. I love it! Nothing compares with being able to see and feel the product for yourself. Online is very convenient of course, but sometimes size charts and product descriptions just aren’t enough. Being able to try something on to see how it looks on your body
saves you a lot of time and hassle. How would you describe your fashion aesthetic? Eclectic, fun, bold and experimental are the best words to describe my style. I like to make a statement and do not follow trends. Fashion is fun and life way too short to be formal! Over 10 years ago, people were giving me sideeyes because of my red tie and dyed hairstyle. It did not become popular until a couple of years ago! Although my style is very funky, I am always put together...in my own way. For a very long time, I was very self-conscious and lacked confidence. I am in a much better place now and the sky is the limit! My wardrobe consists of a large variety of styles spanning from bohemian, to urban and ultra sexy. I love mixing and matching. The key is making sure your silhouette remains streamlined. I am also a firm believer that with the right accessories and shoes, you can make the most basic outfit phenomenal. What trends are you looking forward to wearing this summer season? Hats and crop tops for days! I also cannot wait to get my hands on some swimwear for the summer. I already spotted some amazing pieces from Monif C. and Nakimuli. High-waisted bikinis are to die for! The biggest event of the summer will be the World Cup in Brazil, so prints, pastel and vibrant colors are definitely a must on my list.

You may have seen our cover model working for companies such as Forever 21, Torrid, Macy’s and gracing the pages of PLUS Model Magazine. This month, Emily Nichols opens up about leaving “Corporate America” to pursue her personal passions in sunny California. How did you begin your modeling career? Five years ago, I was burning out at my fast paced finance job in New York City and decided to make a life change. I packed up my car and moved to California to begin studies in Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine. With the flexibility of my new schedule, I was able to pursue hobbies I had previously put on hold while working in New York. I started playing around with my camera again and became more absorbed in photography, art, and fashion.

Top 3 Beauty Must Have’s: A great matte lip color. I really like Lime Crime right now - it goes on glossy and sets matte. The best part about it though is that it lasts through the entire day, even during eating. You don’t end up with the crazy-ladylip-liner look after a meal. Orlane moisturizer. achieving BODY confidence
by Leyah Shanks
bodyconfidencerevolution.tumblr.com “How did you get so confident? How can I achieve body confidence?” I get asked these questions regularly. The annoying thing is, there’s no one answer to either. There’s no automatic way of boosting someone’s self esteem. No magic potion or spell that will enchant them into loving their body. No ONE thing that you can tell someone that will suddenly change the way they see themselves. I think that having an understanding of certain things is a good way to get yourself on the road to self acceptance. For example, Photoshop. I absolutely despise what this software is capable of. When I was growing up, unbeknownst to me, it was the cause of a lot of my body hatred. Once I realized that not a single one of the girls in the magazines I used to read as a youngster hadn’t been retouched, I started to see my own body in a different way. When I look through some publications now, it makes me laugh and shudder at the same time.
According to some magazines, every single woman around the world is six feet tall, a size 8, has porcelain doll-like skin, has luminously white teeth, no stretch marks and is completely toned from head to toe because cellulite does not exist. They have no scars (which means they have never had an operation or even fallen over), has never had a baby, works out more than the average woman, is no older than 20, has no form of disability and has boobs exactly the same size. I now know that all of the above applies to SOME women. But not ALL women. As women and as people, we come in such a delicious array of shapes, heights, sizes, ethnicities, abilities and ages! There is absolutely no need to show people such a one sided, and quite frankly, boring view of what women look like! I use my blog, The Body Confidence Revolution to display versatility. Diversity is a wonderful thing which, instead of condemning, we should be celebrating. At the end of

why shouldn’t we enjoy it when times are good? It’s one of the constants in our lives and is something that we need to stop criticizing/being criticized about. This summer, I urge you NOT to feel like you HAVE to lose weight, tone up or go on a diet before putting on your swimming suit. Instead, stand in front of the mirror and look at all of the things that make your body unique. Powerful. Beautiful. A marvel of nature. You do not have to do anything to get a beach body aside from put on your swimwear and get down to the beach! Remember:“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

the day, our bodies are the crafts that we live our lives in. They host all of us, as human beings. They embody everything about us and allow us to be alive. We go through stages in our life where we lose or gain weight, gain stretch marks, have children, have accidents or operations, go through traumatic and stressful experience, and go through other generally life altering things which may change our outer appearance slightly but ultimately make us who we are. The mental and physical scars that life leaves behind remind us of the journey we’ve been on, how much we’ve grown as a person and that our body has gotten us through difficult times. So
