Anansa Sims February 2012 VIEW COVER
After you graced our February 2012 cover, we watched
you on the hit reality show “Beverly’s Full House”
on the OWN Network. Can you tell us about tha experience?
My experience on the show was both challenging and rewarding
It’s not easy opening up your life to the world. I had just had my
first child, Ava, and my hormones were out of control, my Fathe
was sick and my Mom and I were facing our most challenging
period in our relationship. Something about having my own
daughter drudged up old memories about my childhood. Having
the cameras present forced my Mom and I to address old issues
instead of sweeping them under the rug as we often did. During
taping I was so stressed and hurt, but today I’m so grateful fo that experience.
Sometimes you have to go through the storm to get to the
rainbow on the other side. My Mom is my best friend, amazing Grandmother to my kids and my biggest cheerleader.
Now that I’m a Mother I understand her and appreciate her so
much more. As kids we think our parents are our superheros
and are perfect, so when they make mistakes and disappoint us
it’s like the end of the world. Being a parent made me realize tha
they are just people doing the best they can. I lost my best friend
last year, my Father, and that experience has taught me that life
is truly short. Accept & enjoy your loved ones for who they are.
We hear you have some exciting news to share with us... We are expecting the birth of my 2nd son on June 23rd... Life is wonderful!

Voluminous Butterfly Effect Mascara
Mascara is a must in my book. Even going makeup free, mascara will enhance all-natural beauty and give life to my seemingly duller moments. I recently fell in love with the Butterfly mascara and I’m never going back (laughs). I’m all about making my eyes pop, or even the “cat look,” and this bad boy gets the job done, every time.
Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Masque
I’ve tried a variety of different masks, but this Sulfur Masque is one of my all-time favorites. It’s not for everyday use, but when applied it’s super effective, plus it contains eucalyptus oil which I adore!
Whipped Goods “Light” Facial Moisturizer
I have sensitive skin, so this moisturizer not only moisturizes but it leaves my face dewy & hydrated. It’s also 100% Organic & Vegan, so it’s definitely guiltfree knowing no one was harmed in the process. Desert Essence Coconut Lotion
Covergirl TruBLEND Fix Stick
This is my all-time favorite body cream. It smells like delicious coconuts, it’s vegan, paraben, petroleum, wheat, AND gluten free and no animal testing was done in the process. This stuff is pure love & oh so yummy.
Concealer is a must and so essential because break outs can literally happen anywhere and at anytime... a small dab-on is so effortless yet so effective for a flawless finish. Ladies, always carry concealer like it’s your phone, you’ll thank me.

deodorant on my clothes all the time. I really don’t like the clear gels; they don’t work for me. Is there some quick trick to getting it out of my clothes without washing them? Marilyn from Buffalo, NY

Of course, Marilyn! This is a great beauty question! My tactics would be to gently rub out the spot with a dryer sheet. If you don’t have a dryer sheet, use the spongy strip that comes on the hangers you get from the dry cleaners. If you don’t have THAT, simply fold your clothes onto itself and rub away the mark. There are a few products on the market that you can buy... one is a deodorant removing sponge by Miss Oops. HAVE A BEAUTY QUESTION? Summer is here, which means it is time to relax and have some fun in the sun! Whether you’re laying out on the beach in Mexico, or tapping into your frugalista skills by doing a staycation, we’ve created a little shopping list to help you look and feel your best.
When packing for a vacation, it is best to pack items that are lightweight and wrinkle resistant, and each piece should be able to work with everything you’re packing.
Dresses are a no brainer to pack because you can just slip right in and out of them. A convertible dress is perfect for creating numerous looks and A maxi dress is an easy piece to help you transition from day to evening with a quick swap out of your flats and into a pair of strappy sandals. Always pack more than one bathing suit and make sure you pack a pair of heels for the evening and flats or wedges for daytime. Keep colors bright and try playful prints. They’re instant mood boosters. Jumpsuits and rompers are also fun vacation options because they can be chic and comfy simultaneously. I’ve picked out a few perfect items to jumpstart your vacation shopping.

In an industry that celebrates plus size fashion, it’s sometimes difficult to book models that speak specifically to our reader. They want to see confidence, passion and most of all a model that is proud of her curves; Kris is all that and more. Get to know Kris Yeo... being plus size when I was growing up wasn’t really an “IN” thing, it was more frowned upon. I remember my mom taking me to a modeling agency in Redding, California and they told me I had a beautiful face but I was too big to be a model. I heard the horrible comments that people said and I guess I believed them. It was the words of a stranger that gave me that last push and slap of reality that woke me up and got me to believe in myself, and believe in this dream I’ve had since forever... and now here I am! BREE
by madeline Jones
New York City is still buzzing with excitement as we celebrated plus size fashion, sisterhood and the end of a very important event, Full Figured Fashion Week. The “Face” of FFFWeek 2014 was a beautiful, smart and eloquent young lady, Bree Woodley. When we spoke to her about life and her journey she shared this... “I live by the philosophy that all things hold their own specific purpose. This is how I remain grounded and mindful of my significance in this world. I am in love with life and choose with purpose to treat each day like poetry.”
Maddy: FFFWeek was spectacular; have you processed and recovered from all of the excitement? Bree: NOT EVEN CLOSE! I just celebrated my birthday as well on the 24th and it’s been nonstop for the past 9 days. The excitement has been continuous. I’m still buzzing.

Bree: Being on the red carpet (for the first time ever I might add) and speaking one-on-one with so many down to earth, respected, cool and funny people was so awesome. It was a challenge for me at first because I’d never done anything like that before. When the camera starts rolling, that moment can become very intimidating. I made up my mind that the camera wouldn’t record anything that I didn’t allow; I found my voice and the tone I would carry throughout the evening and it became so fun and effortless. I was excited to interview everyone... and a big thank you to you and Alexandra for the awesome interview; it was a thrilling and a very proud moment for me.
#plusmodelmag
Maddy: I’m sure there were many special moments for you... which will you take with you for years to come?
plus-model-mag.com | jul 2014
Bree: Being the Face of Full Figured Fashion Week was like no other experience I’ve ever had. It was high energy and exceptionally beautiful. It was incredible meeting so many amazing people and working with the FFFWeek family was a dream. It was my first time ever being a part of an event like this and I was, and still am, in total awe of what a great production Gwen and her team have established. FFFWeek literally shuts down New York for the entire week. Whether we were on land or at sea, we left the FFFWeek stamp everywhere.

Maddy: What was your experience at FFFWeek from your perspective as the Face of Full Figured Fashion Week?
The pressure was definitely on... it was the finale and FFFWeek deserved a proper send-off. I took my role seriously and feel I represented myself, the team and the brand with style and grace.

Maddy: Did being the Face of FFFWeek change or enlighten you in any way? Bree: It has enlightened me in every way for the better. I don’t want to drown you in the extent of the blessings that have opened up (I could go on-and-on) because I do also count prospect as an opportunity. To say it simply, my time is now and Full Figured Fashion Week saw my potential and gave me the platform to be myself. ...They all know it, so I will make it public knowledge. They are stuck with me now. I love them to the moon and back.

Maddy: If you could describe FFFWeek in one phrase, what would it be? Bree: Full Figured Fashion Week may be over BUT don’t sleep on the potential of Full Figured Women. Visit Bree Online Facebook/Bree Woodley IG: @beeewooods
