Another brilliant evening with a presentation by Mike and Sam assisted by Chris from GT motorcycles. As most members will know Mike was a founder member of the club many many moons ago, and despite having a business to run he has never shied away from giving the club his full support. To show the clubs appreciation for what Mike has done and is doing for the club Ritchard presented Mike with a 20th anniversary T-shirt and a bottle of loopy juice (whisky) he seemed to appreciate the latter very much. TRIUMPH & HARLEY PLYMOUTH

Monday the 14th was a busy night at the club with Triumph Plymouth & Harley Davidson Plymouth turning up with a total of eight bikes, four of each. All the bikes went down well with the members every one eager to try them out, after all they are both very popular makes, and both makes owned a lot by members. Ian and Graig gave us a pretty comprehensive run down on the different models they had brought along, both makes being very popular they were sure to have the full attention of the club. Just about every one knows what the old Triumph premises were like, couldn’t swing a cat as they say, the bottom two photo’s are of the new premises and what a difference, state of the art, well worth a visit.

MEET THE CHARITIES NIGHT

Also on the 14th was meet the charities, representatives from the club, Megaride and Plymouth Bikenights charities were in attendance. Lesley-Ann from the Chestnut Appeal, (Bikenights) Sian Ward-Edwards from Macmillan (Megaride) Grace, Kerry and Bethan, Friends & Family (Megaride) and of course the enigmatic and effervescent Les from the BHF (club). Sorry to report that the rep from Jeremiahs Journey was ill on the night so could not attend, the club hopes she made a speedy recovery. All the reps took to the floor and gave us a rundown on what their respective charities do and what their aims are for the future. The club in the past has always done it’s best to raise as much as possible for the chosen charities and it can be assured that this year will be no exception. Cheque presentation night is when members and non members alike that have worked hard throughout the year can see the benefits of all their hard work, so, lets hope for a year with good weather so all the charities will reap the rewards.

Well what a day today was, (sun: 27th) not the sort of weather you want when there is a charity run on. The day started with heavy rain and high winds, the weather did break and give us a window for the ride but unfortunately the damage was done by then. Never the less 62 bikes did turn up at Lee Mill and quite a few with pillions so hats off to them. Bad road conditions and bad weather en route didn’t help, but the majority of riders did turn up at the RABI in St Budeaux, a brilliant effort by all riders given the conditions. As is usual at these events the raffle went down well and it being Easter there was of course a lot of calorie busting chocolate Easter eggs to be won and the odd Easter Bunny. Les Rainsford the local BHF rep was very pleased with the turn out given the conditions and did praise and thank all riders for making the effort in turning up. It’s a bit early yet to know how much was raised but with a bit of luck it will be in the next news letter. Pete Batten the web master is on a jolly in France at the moment, as soon as he gets back he will no doubt waste no time in putting the photo’s of the ride on the club web site, so keep your eyes on that. Once again a big, big thank you to all who helped make this ride possible, With out the volunteers no matter what they do these rides would not go ahead. If you take just one group of volunteers out of the equation every thing would come to a halt, so you are all important no matter what you do.

EDITORS NOTE Every one will know by now that before Christmas I bought a Triumph Trophy, and just about every one will be sick of hearing about it. Over the past few months I have been driving people mad who have Triumphs asking question after question, every one has done there best to help me, some have lent me tools, some have given me parts, some have come and helped me when needed, given me advice on the best places to get parts, ect. The last thing I want to do is mention names because I would be sure to forget some one and that would not be fair given the help I have received, but you all know who you are.
