Concrete as structural support
Construction method of concrete stairs at my house To build a concrete stairs 1. Design concrete stairs 2. Lay out footings/ foundation for concrete stairs 3. Build form-work for concrete stairs (250mm tread x 150mm Riser height) 4. Check square, level and plumb - make sure it is perpendicular to the foundation 5. Install steel reinforcement (rebar) 6. Pouring of concrete into the formwork 7. Removal of formwork
To install ceramic tiles on concrete stairs
Step 3's form work for 2 quarter winder
Step's 3 quarter winder form work
Step 5's rebar for concrete stairs
After removal of formwork when dried.
1. Apply cement mortar on concrete staircase 2. Place ceramic tile , 400mm (W) x 400mm (L) 3. Grout ceramic tile between the expansion gap (3mm) 4. Clean off grouting residue
Step's 1 to apply cement mortar on concrete stairs
Step's 2 Placing the ceramic tile

UBBL Study of Stairs
107. Handrails 1. The balusters are 110mm apart from each other. 2. The railing height is 800mm from ground. 3. The handrail is placed 900mm above ground.
106. Dimensions of staircase. 1.The riser is 170mm in height in compliant with UBBL 106 (1). but the tread is 250mm, 5mm below the requirement of UBBL (255mm). 2.The optimum pitch for staircase is 35deg. 3.The minimum unobstructed width for staircase is 800mm whereby the concrete staircase at home is 1040mm width.
107. Handrails 1. Handrails shall be installed for 4 risers and above. 19 risers in total - handrails are installed. 2. The handrail is placed 50mm from the end of the tread, in 900MM height(Minimum). 108. Maximum flights 1. In residential building, a winder landing is place at 6th and 7th step(2080MM) Width. 2. 15 vertical risers in between each such landing.
168. Staircases Width of staircase maintained throughout (1040MM).
