Az elmúlt évekhez hasonlóan szemeszterzáró kiállítással ért véget a Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU) Architecture Minor programjának legújabb, 2023 tavaszi féléve. Az MSU Mérnöki Technológiák Tanszéke (Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology) és a PTE Műszaki és Informatikai Karának (MIK) közös fejlesztésű programja 10 éve biztosít lehetőséget az amerikai egyetem mérnök és műszaki menedzser hallgatóinak, hogy megismerkedjenek az építészettel és fejlesszék képességeiket ezen a speciális szakterületen. A 2023-as év tavaszi félévében (SP23) Dr. Hutter Ákos és Dr. Kovács-Andor Krisztián, a PTE MIK oktatói tanították a Architecture Minor program tantárgyait. Ebben a szemeszterben a Architecture Minor program keretében az Introduction to Architecture, Design Studio 2, Interion Design és két Building Structures tantárgy került meghirdetésre.
Az Introduction to Architecture tárgy keretében a hallgatók az építészet rövid történetével és fejlődésével ismerkedhettek meg. A kurzus bepillantást nyújtott az építészeti gondolkodásmódba, bemutatta a hallgatóknak a szakma összetettségét és szépségét.
A Design Studio 2 kurzuson a hallgatók kisléptékű középületet terveztek Denver belvárosának egyik sajátos adottságú telkére. A városi lépték, a városi kontextus vizsgálata is a feladat részét képezte a félév során.
A Interior Design tantárgy jellemzően a téralkotással, az építészeti tér használatával foglalkozik. A hallgatók a félév során absztrakt tértervezéssel és konkrét lakóterek tervezésével, berendezésével, valamint számítógépes és fizikai modellek készítésével fejlesztették belsőépítészeti ismereteiket.
A Building Structures kurzus az épületszerkezetek és szerkezeti anyagok történetével, a különböző európai és amerikai épületszerkezeti rendszerek bemutatásával, azok összevetésével foglalkozik. A hallgatók az elméleti oktatáson felül több kisebb projekten keresztül, tanulmánykészítéssel, számítógépes és fizikai modellkészítéssel kerülhetnek közelebb az építészethez és annak szerkezeti kérdéseihez.
A „My First Steps in Architecture” című félév végi, nyilvános kiállítás nagy sikerrel zárult, amely kapcsán a kar többi tanszékéről is pozitív visszajelzések érkeztek. Részben ennek köszönhető, hogy az idei 60 fős hallgatói létszámhoz képest már május közepén rekordmagas létszám, 72 fő jelentkezett a minor program kurzusaira az őszi szemeszterre.
Az őszi félévére a minor program összes tárgya (Introduction to Architecture, Design Studio 1, Interior Design, Building Structures, Digital Presentation) meghirdetésre került. Az építészeti kurzusokat a 2023 őszi félévben is Dr. Hutter Ákos és Dr. Kovács-Andor Krisztián oktatják.
As in previous years, the last semester of the Architecture Minor program at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU) ended with a semester-closing exhibition in Spring 2023. For 10 years, the minor program, jointly developed by Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology (EAET) of MSU Denver and Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) of the University of Pécs, has provided engineering and technical management students of the american university with the opportunity to learn about architecture and develop their skills in this specialized field. During the spring semester of 2023 (SP23), Dr. Ákos Hutter and Dr. Krisztián Kovács-Andor, faculty members of the FEIT, taught in the Architecture Minor program. In this semester, the Architecture Minor program offered Introduction to Architecture, Design Studio 2, Interion Design and two Building Structures courses.
In Introduction to Architecture course, students were introduced to a brief history and develpoment of architecture. The course provided an insight into architectural thinking, introducing students to the complexity and beauty of the profession.
In the Design Studio 2 course, students designed a small-scale public building on a unique site in downtown Denver. Examining the urban scale and context was part of the assignment throughout the semester.
The Interior Design course is typically concerned with the creation of space and the use of architectural space. During the semester, students developed their interior design skills through abstract spatial design and the design and furnishing of concrete living spaces, as well as the creation of computer and physical models.
The Building Structures course deals with the history of building structures and structural materials, introducing and comparing different European and American building construction systems. In addition to theoretical instruction, students could learn about architecture and its structural issues through a series of small projects, study design, computer and physical modelling.
The semester-closing public exhibition "My First Steps in Architecture" was a great success and received positive feedback from other faculty departments. Partly as a result, a record 72 students enrolled in the minor for the fall semester in mid-May, compared to the enrollment of 60 this spring.
For the autumn semester, all courses in the minor programme (Introduction to Architecture, Design Studio 1, Interior Design, Building Structures, Digital Presentation) have been announced. The courses in Architecture will be taught by Dr. Ákos Hutter and Dr. Krisztián Kovács-Andor again in Fall 2023.
