IRO Annual Report 2014

Preface 2014 was a dynamic and successful year for IRO and its member companies. Covering the complete vertical supply chain from seismic to installation, our member companies work all over the world. Our 440 members are a mix of relatively small but highly specialised companies as well as larger, uniquely equipped companies. Besides having offices in the Netherlands, many of them also have offices abroad. In 2014 IRO arranged the Holland Pavilions at all major domestic and international oil and gas exhibitions and organised very successful trade missions to Mozambique, Tanzania, Angola, Kuwait and Kazakhstan. The support of our embassies abroad proved to be very productive and we strongly believe in this joint approach. Since our member companies belong to the worldwide top 5 suppliers in the upstream oil and gas industry, their experience, innovative solutions and unique equipment is very well received in those countries that are working on existing or new upstream projects. Low oil prices and the geopolitical situation present many challenges as well as opportunities for the entire oil and gas industry. Some projects will be delayed or cancelled, while the scope of other projects and industry areas will be changed. All this naturally has implications for contracts and pricing. For us

Š IRO 2015

in the industry, this means that we, even more than before, have to come up with cost-effective solutions to stay in the race. Dutch suppliers in the oil and gas industry have proven their ability to create innovative solutions that are unique in the world. The standard in the Netherlands is high. Collaboration between small and large services providers will lead to new solutions for the oil and gas industry at lower costs. Despite all the uncertainties that currently face us, energy needs will keep growing as a result of autonomous population growth in countries such as China, India, Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia, and the concomitant growth in income and production of goods. The greatest share of energy will be supplied by fossil fuels. We therefore strongly believe that our member companies will continue to cope with these challenges and make 2015 a successful year!

Since its foundation in 1971 IRO has promoted the interests of the Dutch supply and service companies in the upstream oil and gas industry. Members cover all activities involved in the supply industry such as engineering, field development, pipeline installation, maintenance, manufacturing and material & equipment supply onshore as well as offshore.

Export and Public Relations Committee Chairman Arjan Klijnsoon, IHC Offshore & Marine Though the IRO Export Group and the IRO Public Relations Committee have been merged into the Export and Public Relations Committee, it was decided to have separate export core group and public relations core group meetings. The purpose of the export core group is to set out the IRO policy and activities with regard to export promotion. The public relations core group advises the board on communication towards the members and other parties. Means of communication are evaluated and new ones introduced.

Export promotional activities 2014 Export promotional activities organised in 2014 and/or sanctioned by the Export and Public Relations Committee are: Memorandum of Understanding between IRO and Kazakhstan Engineering At the occasion of the nuclear summit, HE President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Nursultan Nazarbayev, visited The Hague on 23 March 2014. The president visited a mini

4

exhibition of Dutch companies, comprising nine oil and gas suppliers, with interests in Kazakhstan. Also a number of memoranda of understanding were signed. IRO signed a MOU with National Company Kazakhstan Engineering JSC, which has plans to become a major EPC contractor for the Tengiz field in Kazakhstan, for which US$200 million has been reserved. IRO seminar on doing business in the oil and gas industry in China On 15 April 2014 the IRO Export and Public Relations Committee organised a seminar on doing business in the oil and gas industry in China. Speakers at the seminar were Michiel Mak from Shell, Wim Knoester from W채rtsil채 and Ms Zhihong Gong from ZAGO Consulting and Trading. The seminar gave a good picture of the Chinese oil and gas industry, the opportunities for Dutch suppliers and the ways of doing business. The seminar was hosted by the Rotterdam Maritime Museum. Frits Loomeijer, Managing Director of the museum, gave a presentation on the cooperation between the Rotterdam Maritime Museum and its counterpart in Shanghai. The two museums plan to arrange an exposition of Asian maritime pieces of the Rotterdam Maritime Museum in the Shanghai Maritime Museum. The exposition is to be sponsored by Dutch companies that can use the event to promote their businesses in China.

Outgoing oil and gas missions The Dutch Government organised four oil and gas missions in 2014. ··Two missions led by Minister Lilianne Ploumen of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited Mozambique and Tanzania (15-30 February 2014) and Angola (9-11 July 2014). ··Two missions led by Minister Henk Kamp of the Ministry of Economic Affairs visited Kuwait (8-9 September 2014) and Kazakhstan (24-28 November 2014). All missions were well attended by IRO members. Incoming trade missions A number of incoming missions, partly or wholly oil and gas focused, visited the Netherlands in 2014, with missions arriving from Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Qatar, Sweden, Tanzania and Vietnam. IRO informed its members about these missions to enable them to participate. A special two-day programme, held at both the ONS exhibition in Stavanger and in Rotterdam, was arranged for the Mexico mission so that a Pemex delegation could meet Dutch companies that have interests in Mexico. Cancelled missions IRO had to cancel four oil and gas missions in 2014. Missions to Mexico, China and Brazil had to be cancelled due to a lack of interest of IRO members. An oil and gas mission to Aberdeen had to be cancelled as the operators and EPC contractors were not willing to receive the mission given that they were scheduled to attend a Pilot Share Fair several weeks later. Of the nine companies that registered for the mission, only five agreed to attend the share fair. An IRO information booth was set up to increase the exposure of the five companies attending the share fair. Participation in the share fair proved to be a very interesting experience and the companies that attended are consequently considering participation again next year. The cancelled China mission with Minister Ploumen was organised by RVO. The oil and gas industry section was only added to the mission programme at the last minute, giving IRO members only a week to register, which proved too short. The lack of interest in the mission to Brazil was surprising, as a number of companies had just signed a covenant to participate in a Partners for International Business (PIB) programme that granted financial support from RVO for export promotional events on Brazil. The new energy reforms in Mexico, which open the upstream oil and gas industry for foreign oil companies, present enormous opportunities for Dutch suppliers in the oil and gas industry. However, as no exploration and production agreements have been signed and no projects have been worked out, 2014 was probably too soon for Dutch suppliers to enter the market. Besides, IRO had already organised a successful oil and gas mission to Mexico in 2013 in which all major Dutch suppliers in the oil and gas industry participated.

Dutch Energy Solutions (DES) DES is an IRO and FME programme to assist companies doing business in the oil and gas industry in the Gulf States. The following events were organised in 2014. ·· On 25 September 2014, a seminar on doing business in the oil and gas industry in Saudi Arabia was organised in cooperation with Aramco Overseas. ··From 24-28 November 2014, an oil and gas mission led by Minister Henk Kamp of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (see also outgoing missions) visited Kuwait. ·· On 3 December 2014, DES signed a Partners for International Business covenant with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation) for support of export promotional events to Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE for the coming three years. The support also includes support for network events at the ADIPEC exhibitions in Abu Dhabi, which are organised by IRO. Aetin Aetin is a programme to support Dutch companies doing business in the oil and gas industry in Vietnam. Though not a participant, IRO supports Aetin. At the occasion of the visit of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to Vietnam, an Energy Road Show to Vietnam from 11-17 June 2014 was organised by Aetin in cooperation with IRO that also took part in the mission. On 24 September 2014 Aetin, in cooperation with CBI, organised an energy seminar at the occasion of the visit of the deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai of Vietnam to the Netherlands. From 4-11 December 2014 Aetin organised an energy mission to Singapore and Vietnam. Goal of the mission was to visit OSEA 2014 in Singapore, where IRO was present with a Holland pavilion, and explore business opportunities in the most important Vietnamese cities for the energy sector: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau. Third party oil and gas export promotional events In 2014 the following oil and gas events were organised by third parties at which IRO members were welcome to attend. ··27 January 2014 - Lebanon oil and gas opportunities meeting, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ··10 February 2014 - Seminar on reforms in the Mexican oil and gas industry, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ··13 February 2014 - Iran oil and gas seminar, organised by NCH. ··5 March 2014 - Brazil Seminar and networking event, organised by Fenedex and Brazilian Embassy in The Hague. ··3 October 2014 - Malaysia event on the opportunities in the oil and gas industry in Malaysia, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Netherlands Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. ··14 October 2014 - Seminar on the opportunities offered by the Marcellus shale gas development in Pennsylvania, US, organised by IRO in cooperation with Development Erie. ··27 October 2014 - Russia Round Table with a presentation on the South Stream Project, organised by the Russian Trade Representative Office in the Netherlands.

Overview Exhibitions 2014 The IRO exhibition programme is selected based upon experience, interest shown by the member companies (during meetings, visits, the annual exhibition survey and so on) and advice of the export group which reviews the programme. In 2014 IRO participated in the following exhibitions: Australasian Oil & Gas Expo, Perth, Australia Each year, the Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference (AOG) is the first major industry event on the international oil and gas agenda, providing a unique opportunity to see what is new and forge business connections with industry leaders. Bringing together 605 exhibitors from 20 countries, AOG has become Australia’s largest oil and gas event and the only exhibition of its kind, also incorporating a conference series and multiple networking events. Eight companies participated in the Holland pavilion, eight fewer than in the 2013 edition. The focus for the Australasian Oil & Gas market at the moment is ‘maintenance’. IRO will not participate in a Holland pavilion in the 2015 edition because of lack of interest. Offshore Technology Conference, Houston, USA Experts from the offshore energy industry around the world came together from 5-8 May for the 2014 Offshore Technology Conference at Reliant Park in Houston. Attendance at the annual conference reached a 46-year high of 108,300, the highest in show history and up 3.3% compared to 2013. The sold-out exhibition was the largest in show history at 63,176 m2, compared to 60,589 m2 in 2013. The event had 2,568 companies representing 43 countries, including 163 new exhibitors in 2014. International companies made up 44% of exhibitors. The Dutch pavilion was 940 m2 and 44 companies participated. IRO will participate again in the 2015 edition with a 940 m2 pavilion. Offshore Northern Seas, Stavanger, Norway ONS has established itself over the course of 40 years as one of the world’s major meeting places for players in the oil and energy industry. All the main global players were represented with stands, and some of the key players in the industry addressed the conference. There were 91,682 visitors (59,913 visitors in 2012) and 1,392 exhibitors from 39 countries. Each day an average of 1,100 delegates attended the conferences

and 60 top government leaders and senior corporate executives from 22 countries participated at the ONS Summit. The Holland pavilion was 620 m2 with more than 30 participating companies. The Royal Netherlands Navy hosted a very successful network reception on board the HNLMS Tromp. Rio Oil & Gas, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil One of the biggest oil and gas industry events in the world, Rio Oil & Gas Expo and Conference closed its 17th edition with a positive balance. Organised by the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP), this year’s event set a record for the volume of business done and the number of university students in attendance. The event attracted a total of over 47,000 people to Riocentro. At the exhibition, visitors could learn about the sector’s main innovations in the booths of more than 1,000 exhibiting companies. Of these exhibitors, 72 were debuting in the event. The fair also counted 14 international pavilions. In the Holland pavilion, 14 companies were represented. ADIPEC, Abu Dhabi, UAE The 2014 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) was the largest in the event’s history. It attracted more than 2,000 exhibiting companies, 70,000-plus delegates and representatives from 98 countries. ADIPEC is firmly established as the Middle East’s premier event of its kind, on a par with OTC in Houston and Offshore Europe in Aberdeen. ADIPEC re-emphasised that the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region contains more than half of the world’s proven conventional oil reserves and 42 percent of the world’s proven conventional gas reserves, making it one of the world’s most significant energy markets. IRO participated with more than 30 companies and will organise the Holland pavilion again at the 2015 show. OSEA, Singapore More than 28,600 attendees from 65 countries and regions came to the event, leaving no doubt that major oil and gas players, service providers and industry experts from across the globe view OSEA2014 as the point of entry to Asia’s oil and gas arena. IRO organised a shared pavilion in cooperation with NMT (Netherlands Maritime Technology). Together around 40 Dutch companies participated in the Holland pavilion with a total size of 500 m2.

Public Relations In 2014 three Public Relations core group meetings were organised. On 13 March 2014 the new stand design for the Holland Pavilion was presented by Gielissen. The presented design was approved by the committee members. Further details for the Holland branding are being worked out. The new design of the Holland Pavilion will be first used at the OTC in Houston (May 2015) followed by Offshore Europe in Aberdeen (September 2015).

sector, education and job opportunities. More information can be found under the section Employment & Education. On 10 December 2014 committee members came together to give feedback on their participation in the exhibitions ADIPEC and OSEA. Another subject on the agenda was the six-minute television episode of Wist je dat…? (Did you know), which uses fun facts, short videos and interviews. The committee was asked to nominate two enthusiastic employees in the industry to highlight the excitement of working in the world of oil and gas.

On 3 September 2014 the committee was given a presentation on ‘The importance of brands in the offshore oil and gas suppliers industry’ by Timon Ligterink. Also the new IRO promotion film was screened, and was well received by the committee. In just over a minute, the film presents a fast overview of the activities of the suppliers in the oil and gas industry. The IRO promotion film will be shown during national and international exhibitions at the IRO booth and on other occasions.

A further ongoing subject on the agenda is the new IRO website. Requirements and wishes are gathered and preparations will be made during the coming months. IRO was asked to support a Dutch Oil & Gas Press Tour with international journalists in March 2015. The committee decided that IRO members would be informed through the newsletter and that IRO, together with KVNR, NMT and NML, would give a short presentation on the activities of IRO members.

The new website www.werkenindewereldvanolieengas.nl, jointly developed and launched by IRO and NOGEPA, was presented to the committee. This website provides information about the

IADC Drilling HSE&T Europe On 24 and 25 September 2014, IADC organised the IADC Drilling HSE&T Europe 2014 Conference & Exhibition in Amsterdam with the theme ‘Manage Growth While Meeting Demands’. The upstream oil and gas industry increasingly empowers – and frequently requires – workers to intervene to prevent unsafe acts and eliminate workplace dangers, all under increased regulatory scrutiny. At the same time, the industry faces a huge challenge in manning rigs, as an anticipated 30% growth coincides with the ‘great crew change’. IRO supported the event by spreading information in IRO News and distributing the Netherlands Oil & Gas Catalogue among event participants. Offshore Energy The 7th annual Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference (OEEC) was held at Amsterdam RAI on 28 and 29 October 2014, attracting 13,452 visitors representing 81 nationalities, an increase of 47% compared to 2013. OEEC 2014 featured 630 exhibitors on 21,000 m2 of floor space and 106 speakers in 22 sessions. IRO and NOGEPA shared a large booth and also supported the Offshore WIND Installation & Maintenance (OWIM) conference that was organised on 29 October 2014.

Network events Several times a year IRO organises meetings with and for its members. The main goal of these meetings is to give members the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and to do business successfully by using the association’s vast network. In general the host company gives a presentation about its activities followed by an excursion and drinks with an opportunity for networking. For the host company this is a great opportunity to provide greater insight into its business activities. To create a larger network, IRO also organises meetings where non-members are invited. IRO New Year’s Reception On 15 January 2014 the very successful IRO New Year’s reception was held at ‘Sociëteit de Witte’ in The Hague. IRO Chairman Pieter van Oord, Vice-Chairman Michaël Kahn and Managing Director Sander Vergroesen welcomed the guests. The reception attracts more and more guests every year, testimony to the importance of networking in our industry. Besides IRO members there were also a number of special guests, including representatives from embassies of prominent oil-producing countries and government officials. About 320 guests were present. IRO-CEDA members meeting On 6 March 2014 about 140 IRO and CEDA members attended the successful annual IRO-CEDA meeting on the subject of ‘cables and pipelines on the seabed’, ranging from how and what in the manufacturing stage to the realisation of security in the user phase. Hans Bijen, Commercial Manager of Van Oord Offshore gave a presentation on ‘installing pipelines in shallow water’. He was followed by Dirk Luger, Soil & Structures Strategic Advisor at Deltares, who gave a presentation on the ‘safety of cables and pipes’. Chris Jones of IHC Engineering Business Ltd. demonstrated IHC´s ‘trenching equipment’. The meeting was followed by network drinks.

2014 Oil & Gas Industry Forecast On 11 March 2014 the annual IRO-EY Oil & Gas Industry Forecast meeting took place in the STC building in Rotterdam. About 210 persons attended the event. Christof Rühl, Group Chief Economist and Vice President of BP plc, presented BP’s World Energy and Global Outlook, which was illustrated by interesting graphics and statistics. In his presentation, he concluded that there will still be sufficient and available energy sources in 2035 due to new energy discoveries and efficiency improvements. Security and reliability will improve for some and be a concern for others. There will also be room for sustainability. After his presentation, Coby van der Linde, Director of the Clingendael International Energy Programme and professor of Geopolitics and Energy Management at the University of Groningen, gave her comments on Christof Rühl’s presentation and put it in context with the challenges in oil and gas in the short and medium term, as illustrated by political events. The attendees were able to ask questions to both speakers. The meeting ended with network drinks. The BP Energy Outlook 2035 can be downloaded from the IRO website. IRO and Carbon Energy Club members meeting at Allard-Europe On 3 April 2014 a joint members’ meeting of IRO and the Belgian Carbon Energy Club (CEC) took place at Allard-Europe in Turnhout, Belgium. IRO Managing Director Sander Vergroesen and CEC Managing Director Pieter-Jan Provoost signed a Memorandum of Understanding in July 2013 in which the parties agree to establish a strategic relationship of business cooperation between the two associations. The meeting at Allard-Europe is one of the joint activities arising from this MOU. Allard-Europe is a unique steel and iron foundry producing to customer specifications non to high-alloy castings (e.g. corrosion & heat-resistant steel) in quantities up to 30 tonnes. Gas Committee Chairman Hugo Vos, TNO

On 14 March 2014 the IRO Gas Committee organised a meeting and visit to the new Taqa underground gas storage facilities in Bergermeer. Besides a presentation on and a visit to the Taqa gas storage facilities, GC Chairman Hugo Vos gave a presentation on the TKI Upstream Gas. There was only capacity for a maximum of 20 IRO participants (meeting room capacity, bus and PSEs). Gas Storage Bergermeer will provide the Northwest European gas market with 4.1 billion cubic metres (BCM) of seasonal storage, thereby almost doubling the Netherlands’ total storage capacity. Situated near the Dutch city of Alkmaar, and located 2,500 metres underground, the Bergermeer gas reservoir once held 17 BCM of natural gas. In the last 40 years the gas from the

reservoir has been extracted to provide energy, power and heat for the Netherlands. The Bergermeer reservoir has the ideal geological characteristics for gas storage and is in a strategically ideal location: well connected to the gas transport network, close to major cities and industrial centres and only 20 km from the BBL pipeline transporting gas between the Netherlands and the UK. The design and construction required an investment of EUR€800 million and involved drilling new wells, building a gas treatment plant and laying almost 40 km of pipeline. Gas Storage Bergermeer have begun operations in April 2014 with partial capacity. Full commercial operations are scheduled to start in April 2015. IRO is also active in the TKI Upstream Gas which harbours the ambition to produce 30 billion m3 gas in 2030 through enhancing innovation. Promoting the participation of SME IRO members is an important task of IRO.

‘Oil & Gas Well Sourced’ course The IRO course ‘Oil & Gas Well Sourced’ is a non-technical course given at the shipyard of Keppel Verolme in Rotterdam. It gives insight into how oil and gas fields are formed, explored and put into production and provides an overview of how the industry works. The course is presented by experts in the oil and gas industry and is given in English or Dutch. In 2014 the course was given ten times: four times in Dutch and six times in English. In total 185 participants attended the course. In addition, three in-house courses were organised. The course will be continued in 2015. Costs for participation are € 495 per person for IRO members and € 795 per person for nonmembers (excl. VAT). It is possible to organise an in-house course for your employees on your own premises. Please contact IRO for more information. lectures and presentations across the country in just one week. On the ‘Pride of Rotterdam’, Ben Kollen, Captain of this P&O Ferry, announced that 416 guest lectures had been presented. Labour Market Survey 2014 IRO has again participated in the Labour Market Survey (Arbeidsmarktmonitor). This time the survey also concentrated on the Offshore sector. The survey was commissioned by NML and executed by ECORYS. With input from IRO this time, the list of firms contributing to the survey has been upgraded and extended from 330 to 500. IRO and Jet-Net intensify their cooperation IRO and Jet-Net expressed their intention to intensify structural cooperation, from one-on-one relationships to Jet-Net and IRO working regionally on the formation of clusters of companies and schools. This means there will be multiple experience opportunities for students and teachers. It also means IRO member companies can get more students acquainted with the Offshore sector. Currently, 170 schools (one third of all senior secondary education (HAVO) and pre-university education (VWO) schools in the Netherlands) and 88 companies are affiliated with Jet-Net. Furthermore, 100 schools are expected to start collaboration with a company in due course. For these schools, Jet-Net is continually looking for new companies.

Innovation and Regulatory Affairs Committee Chairman Rob Luijnenburg, Fugro Seminar on arctic shipping and offshore operations On 16 March 2014 Netherlands Maritime Technology organised a seminar on arctic shipping and offshore operations. IRO was very pleased with the initiative to organise this seminar, as an arctic offshore seminar was a subject high on IRO’s priority list. All IRO members received an invitation and the seminar was well attended. Subjects covered by the seminar included a general overview of arctic oil and gas operations, arctic regulations, offshore operations in ice, safety, ice management and crew training for operations in extreme weather conditions. Decommissioning On 18 March 2014 IRO, in cooperation with Decom North Sea, organised a decommissioning seminar. At the seminar, Decom North Sea gave an update on the forthcoming decommissioning activities in the North Sea. Marathon Oil gave a presentation on an operators’ perspective of decommissioning. Aker Solutions gave a presentation on the Murchison project. Furthermore, there were also presentations on the Decommissioning Centre of Excellence and the vessel Pioneering Spirit. Symposium Rising Subsea On 1 May 2014 KIVI Offshore and Maritime Technology organised a lustrum symposium on Rising Subsea. The symposium was attended by more than 300 persons of which many were IRO members. The symposium was supported by IRO which was made possible by a subsidy from the Netherlands Maritime Network (NML). The symposium touched on many aspects of the use of subsea technology for oil and gas exploration in deep water, such as production, separation, subsea compression lines, arctic, etc. KIVI and IRO lecturers on Technostarters On 16 October 2014 KIVI, in cooperation with IRO, organised a lecture evening on the experiences and pitfalls

14

of setting up a company. The speakers of this evening all had innovative ideas on brand new technologies and methodologies that led to the start of their own companies. During the young lives of their own companies, they have gained valuable experience which they shared with the attendees. The speakers discussed what went right and wrong during their own start-ups, how to make optimum use of the limited available resources, the pitfalls they encountered, and the key aspects in becoming a successful company. The four companies that gave presentations were Fistuca, with new piling technology for offshore wind foundations; Mocean Offshore, with a floating wind turbine concept; Barge Master, with a wave compensation system for offshore cranes; and Offshore Independents, which established an engineering company in offshore oil and gas technology. Networking was an important element of the event, which was attended by about 90 persons. The event was made possible by generous support from NML. IRO meeting on the Jones Act On 4 September 2014 an IRO meeting on the Jones Act was held. The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a trade agreement that is presently being negotiated between the European Union and the United States. It aims at removing trade barriers in a wide range of economic sectors to make it easier to buy and sell goods and services between the EU and the US. One of the areas the EU and US will be negotiating is the maritime sector. At the moment the Jones Act (The Merchant Marine Act of 1920) effectively prohibits foreign companies to supply maritime services to the American market. The aim of the Netherlands is to get more market access for the maritime industry through TTIP. The European Commission negotiates on behalf of the 28 EU Member States, including the Netherlands. To provide the negotiating team of the European Commission with the necessary input from the industry, IRO set up a meeting with two guest speakers, Mrs Cécile Kleve and Luigi Poli, who were very much interested in hearing which specific problems IRO members encounter when doing business in/with the US, especially where related to the Jones Act.

Offshore Wind Energy Mission to Glasgow From 10-12 June 2014 the Netherlands-British Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with IRO, organised an Offshore Wind Energy Mission to Glasgow in the UK. Nine companies, of which eight were SMEs, participated in this mission which was supported by TKI WindopZee. The programme included presentations by A2Sea, AREVA, Dong Energy, ENECO/EDF, E-On and KBR. Furthermore, the programme consisted of a matchmaking, a network event and a visit to the UK Offshore Wind Exhibition and conference.

WSDC members visit platform Lynda Bossler On 17 June 2014 a Well Services and Drilling Committee (WSDC) meeting was held at Keppel Verolme. Guest speaker at the WSDC was Mrs Simone Wiers of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment who gave a presentation on the new registration procedure for working with explosives. Peter de Bruijne, WSDC chairman, gave a presentation on the split up of Noble Drilling into Noble Drilling and Paragon. The highlight of the meeting was a visit to the Noble drilling platform Lynda Bossler, which was under repair at Keppel Verolme. Thirty IRO members attended the WSDC meeting.

On 26 May 2014 IRO organised a members meeting with AYOP in IJmuiden, which was dedicated to Offshore wind. This event was followed up with a TKI WindopZee event on 3 July 2014, also in cooperation with AYOP in IJmuiden. The purpose of this latter event was to inform IRO members, especially SME companies, of the opportunity to participate in TKI WindopZee innovation projects. At Offshore WIND Installation and Maintenance Conference (OWIM) held in the RAI during Offshore Energy on 29 October 2014, IRO participated with an information point (banner and Netherlands Oil & Gas catalogues). At the offshore wind mission to France (21-23 October 2014), organised by Cleantech, eight out of fourteen companies were IRO members. IRO also sits on the advisory board for the development of the TKI WindopZee supply chain tool. Due to the large number of offshore wind events organised by third parties, IRO decided to hold back on organising IRO Offshore Renewables Installations events in 2014.

Visit Berkel 4 site On 4 December 2014 a WSDC meeting was held at the NAM site Berkel 4, where Schlumberger is involved in the decommissioning of the site. Subjects discussed included the extension of the tour from two to three weeks, the status of the drilling and wells-related NOGEPA guidelines. It is important to note that it was also decided at the meeting to intensify cooperation between IRO and NOGEPA. Furthermore, a presentation and tour was given on the decommissioning activities of Schlumberger at the Berkel 4 site.

Cooperation with other organisations Over the year much attention was again paid to cooperation with other organisations and associations for the purpose of exchanging information and exploring common areas of interest. In the field of export promotion, a number of activities and events were organised jointly, or with the support of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland, ‘RVO’), Dutch embassies and consulates abroad, the Netherlands Maritime Network (NML) and FME-CWM. Exchange of professional information took place with the Netherlands Diving Centre (NDC), the Royal Institution of Engineers (KIVI), the Central Dredging Association (CEDA), FME-CWM and various NML partners. Several joint activities, such as technical seminars and presentations, were organised during the year. IRO would like to thank these organisations for their generous cooperation. At the national level IRO maintained its close ties with NOGEPA and a frequent exchange of views took place on a number of subjects of mutual interest. The joint IRO/NOGEPA project on education and employment was further extended during the year and will be continued in 2015. IRO also participated again in the regular consultation meetings with the State Supervision of Mines (SodM), NOGEPA and IADC. These meetings have proven to be a very successful medium for exchanging information and reaching agreement

16

on common viewpoints regarding topics such as legislation, HSE issues and labour conditions. Netherlands Maritime Network (NML) This foundation wants to improve the image and the reputation of the complete Dutch maritime cluster consisting of 12 sectors. Since offshore plays an important role in this cluster, IRO participates in board meetings and councils dealing with innovation, export, human capital and public relations. Active participation in NML activities in 2014 resulted in the offshore oil and gas industry being better emphasised in the 2014 Maritime Monitor, two subsidies for IRO events and the nomination of the OTC exhibition in Houston as a strategic exhibition in 2015. Another very important example of a fruitful cooperation with the sectors within NML was the proposal of the Maritime Strategy for the complete maritime cluster, thus also including Offshore. This strategy should make a significant contribution to the top international sustainable maritime position held by the Netherlands and that of Offshore in particular. EURONET At the international level, the useful and amicable cooperation with our fellow European organisations was maintained through the informal EURONET network. EURONET now consists of the national associations of the United Kingdom (EIC, Energy North, ITF, Decom North Sea), Norway (Norsk Industri), Denmark (DMOG), Belgium (Agoria CEC), France (GEP-AFTP) and the Netherlands (IRO).

IRO Annual Report 2014
