Greetings Happy June! School is coming to an end and summer is (almost) here! With that, just because school is over, doesn’t mean that Key Club is! I want you all to not to forget about your duties as Key Club members and to keep in touch with your Kiwanis advisors and or club advisors. There will be DCMs, rallies, and volunteering opportunities to be held during the summer. At our last DCM, we briefly went over plans for future DCMs and details about Tacoma Rally. More finalized information about Tacoma Rally will be out soon in the near future. I will post information on the Divisional Group Page and through emails so be on a lookout! Lastly, last full week of June, I will be out of town as I will be attending the Key Club International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. If you guys have any problems or concerns, please reach me by my phone at (360)970-0256. Thank you so much for a great month Key Clubbers! In love and service, Sharon Lee Division 38 Lieutenant Governor

What is MNT? In 28 countries around the world, maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) can quickly turn the joy of childbirth into tragedy. MNT kills one baby every nine minutes.

Who suffers from MNT? MNT is caused when tetanus spores, found in soil everywhere, come into contact with open cuts during childbirth. The disease strikes the poorest of the poor, the geographically hard to reach and those without health care.

Can MNT be stopped? Yes! MNT is highly preventable. Just three doses of a 60-cent immunization protect mothers, who then pass on the immunity to their future babies. Together, Kiwanis and UNICEF can stop this disease.

Members of Key Club International have helped eliminate MNT from yet another country! Thank you to all of you amazing people. If you have any questions about purchasing merchandise, fundraising, or any other suggestions, please feel free to contact me!

On May 20th, 2015, Kiwanis Club of North Thurston sponsored an officer training for the new officers for the 2015-2016 terms from North Thurston, River Ridge, and Timberline High School Key Club. The new officers got to know each other and share common ideas for their upcoming term during the next school year. Thank you River Ridge Kiwanis Advisor, Wendy Fraser for hosting this great officer training event full of fun and leadership!

May DCM Thank you everyone who came out to the May DCM! Together as a Division, the attendees participated in the Elemonate Challenge! This challenge, similar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, raise awareness for The Eliminate Project. One baby is lost to Maternal Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) every 11 minutes. US$1.80 is enough to provide a mother with three vaccines that will protect her and all of her future babies from the devastation that MNT inflicts. We raised total of $31.59 for the Eliminate Project. Great job!
