Benetti has announced the sale of 49m custom superyacht Zafiro 160’ Benetti has announced the sale of a 49m fully custom displacement yacht, making this the 18th contract for the Italian shipyard in the previous 12 months. Viareggio-based studio Horacio Bozzo Design has drawn the exterior and the interior layout. Principal, Horacio Bozzo commented: “essential and pure lines are the soul of this project, where the demand of design embraces functionality”. Project Zafrio160' features a beach club with sauna and a four-metre pool, positioned on the flybridge. There is also a concealed garage on board which houses a 6.3m tender, as well as a foredeck space for a 3.4 crew tender.

Benetti have announced the sale of a 49 metre full displacement superyacht. The FB702, now named Zafiro, is part of Benetti’s Custom series. This sale marks the eighteenth contract the Italian shipyard have signed this year. Monaco Yacht Show Top Picks By Georgia Boscawen This year at the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) will see the largest number of yachts in attendance. SuperyachtNews.com evaluates the yachts, both new and old, which will be the outstanding features of the show. Ester III Every year, MYS attendees wait in anticipation to see what Lürssen exhibits. This year will be no exception, with the attendance of fully-custom 66m superyacht Ester III. Delivered in autumn 2014, Ester III was designed by Espen Øino International under the guidance of the owner. Her bold and masculine profile will undoubtedly be a frequent discussion at the show, not to mention her unusual deck arrangement. Ester III’s interior, designed by Raymond Langton Design, is a combination of contemporary and classical, including hand-carved leather artwork running through the main stairwell and a spectacular glass lift, running from the lower to the top deck.

Atlante Delivered in August 2015, 55m displacement yacht Atlante represents a new direction for Italian shipyard CRN, making her a must see at the show. Based on the characteristics of a military vessel, as specified in the design brief, Atlante was conceived by Nuvolari and Lenard, with naval architecture by CRN’s in-house engineering department. Her strong, dark exterior is certainly one to look out for on T Central. With a gross tonnage of 950, over four large decks, Atlante has the highest volume out of all the 55m superyachts delivered in the last ten years. Atlante will be exhibited by CRN along with two other CRN yachts, 61m Saramour and 73m Yalla.

11/11 11/11 is an exciting addition to the show this year, representing a new design direction for Benetti, whilst maintaining the Italian shipyard’s distinctive design elements. The 63m superyacht features a plumb bow, which not only enhances her prominent lines, but also improves performance. The interior has also been designed by the Benetti’s in-house team and features two owner’s cabins, one on the full beam main deck and the second on the upper deck, with private access to the pool and solarium deck. This vessel is one of three Benetti speryachts to debut at the show this year, alongside 60m Formosa and 42m H.

Sea Force One This will be the second time Sea Force One, delivered in 2008, has made an appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show, yet still she continues to firmly hold her position as one of the top picks of the show. Built by Mariotti Shipyard, she is known for her rather loud design and constitutes a contemporary superyacht design with an intriguing and mysterious appeal. Designed by Luca Dini, Sea Force One immediately takes centre stage within the heaving Port Hercules - with her dark aggressive, but alluring exterior. She also comes alive upon nightfall with her plethora of light shows, one of which mimics a fire on the main deck. Mystery and rarity is a quality, which is by no means skin deep for the 53.8m yacht, as she also features one of the fleet’s most enigmatic contemporary interiors. Whilst Sea Force One doesn’t cater for the more classical of tastes, she is truly one of the more fascinating superyachts and one to look out for on T Central, exhibited by Merle Wood Associates.

Stella Maris Stella Maris will once again be drawing attention on Quai Rainier III; this will be her third appearance at the show, and upon her return will no doubt be greeted with admiration. Designed by Espen Ă&#x2DC;ino, in collaboration with Laurant Giles Naval Architects, the 72m superyacht not only boasts a strong and original form, but at 2,114gt she boasts a vast interior, with exceptionally high ceilings measuring just under 3m. The light and cool toned interiors were commissioned by Michela Reverberi, and features a huge amount of glass and simple contemporary elements. One of the primary design elements onboard Stella Maris is the vast helideck, which illuminates to take this to an even further degree. Furthermore, the helideck is also fully certified as a HCA commercial helideck, and is one of the smallest superyachts to obtain the certificate. Stella Maris will be exhibited by Burgess at the show and is available for sale.

Imagine Imagine was the first of the Amels Limited Editions 212 series and a stunning design collaboration between two world-renowned studios - Tim Heywood (exterior) and Andrew Winch (Interior). Delivered in 2011, the 65m displacement yacht has a gross tonnage of 1,503gt, which offers ample interior space and the capacity to accommodate 14 guests and 20 crewmembers. Whilst maintaining classical interior styling with Andrew Winch designs, Imagine has incorporated a multitude of modern elements, such as unique panelling and minimalistic furniture, ultimately combining classical design with contemporary. Imagine will be on the Quai Des Ă&#x2030;tats-Unis, exhibited by Fraser Yachts.

MYS EXCLUSIVE: €3.05 million price reduction on Benetti's Cakewalk By Felix Sowerbutts One day prior to the outset of the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show, the owner of Benetti's Cakewalk instructed a €3.05 million price reduction on the 55m motoryacht. Listed for sale with Merle Wood & Associates and Burgess, her new asking price is €21.95 million. The 2003 build underwent a significant refit in Florida at the beginning of 2015. Captain Bill Zinser said that her subsequent condition is second-to-none and she is prime for new ownership. The interior decor upgrades include reupholstered soft furnishings, new furniture, new carpets and a new dining table. A complete review of all technical systems was also carried out. Her range of over 8,000nm at a 12-knot speed is outstanding in this size range. With a GT of 909, she offers considerable volume and is above the fleet average of 747GT for 52.5 - 57.5m motoryachts.

Benetti’s Fabio Ermetto Discusses Sizing Up Superyachts

Italian brand Benetti are one of the most renowned named in the yacht building industry and with such respect comes the confidence to make big decisions. It was this philosophy that drove the company to start creating bigger yachts than ever before in its long and distinguished history. We say down with Fabio Ermetto, Chief Commercial Officer at Benetti Yacht, to discuss their choice to enter the supersized market. “At the moment our average size is getting bigger and bigger,” he said, “not only because of the giga yacht contract we got but the average size of our class of semi-custom is getting bigger with the introduction of a few new models. “A couple of years ago we felt this was becoming a limitation for us. A few of our clients wanting custom yachts wanted to go a bit bigger and at the time our largest yacht was around 75 metres. “We know it’s not an easy market, as some of our colleagues had a long experience, but at the moment we’re very happy. Within sixteen months of making this decision we already had a few contracts so this means clients are trusting that Benetti can be a major player even with these 100 metre plus yachts.”

Italian shipyard Benetti has announced the sale of the forthcoming 49 metre motoryacht Project Safiro. Also known as FB702, the full displacement yacht will become the latest addition to Benetti’s Custom series when it is built.

Vincenzo Poerio, managing director of Benetti, told IBI. “The investment in the new sheds was €20m and we now have some 3,000 people working at Benetti, which is a rise of 400. “We are currently building four yachts over 90m,” Poerio added. “One will be delivered in 2016, two in 2018 and one in 2019. We are building two superyachts of 107m (351ft) and one of 102m (335ft). The latter will be the biggest because of its volume. We are currently negotiating a number of new build contracts between 80m-120m (263ft394ft).” Benetti is also launching a new semi-custom yacht series between 50m-70m (164-230ft). “We have built some 50 yachts of this type but we find that there is more interest from owners, so we have decided to launch this new series,” Poerio commented. “The plan is to match design with technology and superstructure assembly, which will allow us to reduce the time of construction.” Benetti presently has 50 yachts in build, including 16 over 50m and four over 90m. Seventeen yachts will be delivered this year. A seventh model in the Benetti (http://www.benettiyachts.it) Class Displacement series is in build. Actually, the first two hulls of the Benetti Mediterraneo 116 are under construction, with the first under contract. The Mediterraneo 116 will be one of the smaller yachts in the series and bear a family resemblance to her sisters. The existing models are the Delfino 93, Tradition Supreme 108, Classic 121, Classic Supreme 132, Crystal 140, and Vision 145. The 116’5” (35.5-meter) megayacht does have subtle styling differences, with longer lines aft and bigger ports in some areas. The latter is in keeping with an ongoing trend to bring more natural light inside and allow owners and guests feel more connected to the cruising environment. To that end, the Mediterraneo 116’s saloon has ports measuring more than 9’8” (3 meters) high, spanning much of the length of the room. The dining area just forward has opening glass doors leading out to a nicesize side deck. Staterooms have significant-size ports, too, with nearly floor-to-ceiling ones in the main-deck master and deep ones in the four guest cabins below decks. Those latter ports stop about two feet (70 cm) from the deck, just like in the master suite. Other features sure to attract buyers include a 52-foot-long (16-meter-long) sundeck, complete with sunning, seating, and dining spots. Benetti says the standard layout for the Mediterraneo 116 includes a pool, but clients are welcome to arrange it as they wish. A dumbwaiter ensures drinks and snacks can be brought up to the skylounge swiftly and securely, into a dedicated pantry. It’s part of a rethinking of crew and guest movement by Benetti, allowing each to do as they want without interfering with the other. Something we’re interested in seeing: the A/V and stowage area beneath the main stairway. It may sound strange to be interested in it, but it’s an arrangement other builders have used successfully for a number of years. It makes the crew’s job of changing entertainment components, for example, or troubleshooting much easier, since everything is in one easy-to-access place. The Benetti Mediterraneo 116 will carry six crew plus the captain.

The Darse Nord tent, for example, will now be on Quai Antoine 1er and split into two tents marked Quai Antoine 1er A and Quai Antoine 1er B. Furthermore, due to the show organizers securing additional dockage along the Quai Rainier III by the new yacht club, three megayachts exceeding 328 feet (100 meters) are within the confines of the show. The annual Monaco Yacht Show (http://www.monacoyachtshow.com) kicked off yesterday, with 121 megayachts up to the 300-foot (nearly 100-meter) range on display within the confines of the principality’s Port Hercule. Many more megayachts for sale and charter that couldn’t secure dock space are anchored offshore, reachable via tenders supplied by their listing agents and/or builders. Then there are mini-shows within the Monaco Yacht Show: a tender show, and a watertoys show. – One European and two worldwide debuts for the Tuscan yard – FB265 M/Y 11/11 twin owner’s cabin with a plumb bow that cuts through the  sea – her world debut – FB255 M/Y Formosa, five decks in 60 meters of aluminum and steel – her world debut – BF 203 M/Y H, third unit of the Veloce 140’ Fast Displacement series – her European debut FB265 MY 11/11 The 63 meter mega yacht has a special design and aesthetic factor that you notice immediately: her plumb bow, which allows for an increased dynamic tendency, literally cutting through the water. The FB265 MY 11/11’s interiors are just as original. top speed of 17 knots during her first preliminary sea trails. Scenic effects and nighttime illumination are assured while at anchor with 46 lights placed below the waterline of the superyacht. FB255 M/Y Formosa The steel and aluminum hull of the Formosa FB255 superyacht – whose exterior styling and naval architecture were done entirely by Benetti – has five decks, with 60 meters of length overall, a beam of 10.6 meters and a displacement of 1,060 GT. The guest area’s layout and design were created by Sinot Design, in close collaboration with the owner. Five suites for ten guests are foreseen, with a complete deck given over to the owner’s apartment. 14 crew members will assist the captain and look after the owner and guests. The Formosa FB255, propelled by twin MTU 12V4000 M53 engines that develop 1,380kW at 1.800rpm has a top speed of 16 knots, with a cruising speed of 15 knots. While economy cruising at 12 knots the FB255 has a range of 5,000 nautical miles. BF 203 M/Y H is the third yacht of the Fast Displacement Veloce 140’ series and is characterized by a new hull design that makes the D2P (Displacement to Planing) hull even more efficient. The Wave Piercer is a bulb mounted on the bow that comes into play when the yacht reaches 17 or 18 knots. The Wave Piercer travels just below the surface at slow speed, but once the vessel reaches the proper speed the Wave Piercer emerges and increases the effective waterline length, giving the yacht better performance and efficiency. Fuel efficiency increases by about 10% at a given speed, while with the same power there is an increase of about 10%, therefore allowing higher speeds. The BF 203 M/Y H is equipped with twin five blade propellers and twin power plants developing 2,580kW each, with a straight propeller shaft configuration. The BF 203 M/Y’s internal layout offers four guest cabins – two with twin beds and two queen size – on the lower deck, while the owner’s apartment is forward on the main deck. On the same deck we have the main salon with bar zone and bridge, all with lateral panoramic windows for a perfect view. The dining area, with a large expandable table, is on the upper deck together with a second salon. There are two sunbathing areas: forward of the upper deck with Jacuzzi and for the complete length of the sun deck with a corner bar.

THE ULTIMATE 2015 CANNES BOAT SHOW REVIEW WITH 12 VIDEOS AND OVER 200 PHOTOS September 18, 2015 by Rich Lazzara

The annual Cannes Yachting Festival for 2015 has come to an end and again this boat show was spectacular. The combination of location, weather, size and boats make this my favorite boatshow of the year. Over the past ten years Cannes has really catapulted to the forefront of new product launches for most of the European builders under 150’. Being held in the middle of September it kicks off the start of the global selling season and you can be sure to see many new yachts each year. For seven days I toured 42 boats and yachts as well as saw hundreds more. In addition I had the chance to visit 7 shipyards (Princess, San Lorenzo, Benetti, Mangusta, Codecassa, Maiora, and AB Yachts) One thing is certain, worldwide yacht sales continue to maintain a steady pace and more new product and companies continue to debut at record pace. The overall feeling is that this will continue for the foreseeable future. While I don’t want to take the time to give full reviews on all the yachts I toured I will give you some general highlights from some of the yachts I was on. think anyone could argue that the Arcadia yacht design is the most unique we’ve seen in our industry in many years. With all due respect to the many yacht designers out there, most yachts generally have the same outboard profile. The Arcadia looks nothing like anything you’ve seen on the water before. Coupled with their use of all glass walls and ceilings, it may not be a design for everyone which is precisely while they will sell well in the end. Azimut – The new 72 motor yacht. Nicely done, will sell well around the world, nothing necessarily innovative but more of an evolution for them. Azimut built around 250 boats last year and looks to do about that this coming year. Benetti – The new 125 Vivace. This was one of the most impressive yachts I was on. Primarily because of the 28’ beam given the yacht immense volume. She is a tri-deck yacht with Rolls Royce pod drives (a first). She had every major new trend in design throughout; floor to ceiling Master Staterrom windows, massive foredeck seating group, side garage for tender and toy storage, fold down transom beach club, full beam Master Stateroom with “portuguise” styled walk arounds. They will sell a lot of these for certain. Benetti delivered 17 yachts last year and currently has 50 under construction. Let that number sink in. Dreamline – The 85’ with an on deck masterstatwroom, has one of the most amazing layouts in this size yacht that I’ve seen. I know of no other yacht this size with and on deck MSR. How they fit that much into that length is still a mystery to me and I’ve been on the boat several times.

Feadship – KISS 2015 46.4m yacht wasn’t in the show but we had a chance to tour her nearby. I’ve been on many super yachts, the innovation and quality of KISS throughout is second to none….none. I could go on and on about this super yacht but I will leave it at that. (see the photos here) Ferretti – Custom Line 108 is a sleek yacht with full beam main deck master stateroom and portuguise walk around decks going forward. A well designed, clean yacht interior and a profile that looks fast just sitting at the dock. The new 70′ was well done and you can get a quick glimpse of her in the video below along with the 55′ Ferretti 70′

Invictus – The new 28’. Pay attention to this line of boats. You are going to be seeing a lot more of the. Very well executed design. Unique styling and great attention to detail. Mangusta – The latest 110′ was on hand. If you are interested in a large express yacht that does 40 knots then this is the only company to consider. The 132 and 165 are equally amazing.

Overblue – The 42 is a modern interpretation of a houseboat that you just have to see for yourself. They don’t like the term houseboat. I guess its like calling a Prevost an RV, but Im not creative enough to think of any other way to describe it. You are going to see more and more of these on the water. Primarily I would think people will use them as more house than boat but I could be wrong. In any event it was a creative new design, something I haven’t seen before. Princess – The new 35m is amazing. Great use of space, design and layout. The interior design was stunning and the aft deck, foredeck and flybridge all have extremely large spaces for entertaining. Princess built around 275 yachts last year and looks to do that and more this year.

Riva – The new 76 is typical Riva. Very well styled, good attention to detail, and a yacht that will catch everyone’s eye. I like the new hull window line and especially like the giant Riva logo on the side of the hull. I don’t recall seeing this done before and it reminds me of the BMW logo on the side of the Z series cars.

San Lorenzo – The new 86 was nicely done. The layout they had at the show was a European layout with a small galley and larger lower helm. The US version will reverse that. The 126 was awesome. It will debut at the Fort Lauderdale boat show this November. I have no doubt she will sell there. I think in all San Lorenzo is doing the widest variety of yacht interiors of any production builder. I went on 8 San Lorenzo’s (including the new 42m explorer which will debut at the Monaco show, and not one interior was the same.
