THE ITALIAN SHIPYARD Benetti is #1 in the world ranking of yards specialising in the production of yachts over 24 metres, in terms of number of ships launched every year. There are several different reasons for that, such as the ability to produce a high number of yachts in composite in Viareggio and in steel-aluminium in Livorno, the high standards of quality for the semi-custom and custom yachts at reasonable prices, the high level of designer and engineer involvement in the process starting from the idea up to the launch. These reasons help to ensure that Benetti is at the highest step on the podium of international yards for number of yachts produced every year. But also, the ability to develop and produce innovation together with an accurate selection of designer and other professionals involved in the process is something that also boosts this result. Benetti was founded in 1873 and is one of the oldest Italian builders of motor yachts. For 143 years, the builder’s story is full of examples of its ability to realise iconic yachts while playing an active part in the evolution of international yachting. Over the decades, the Benetti yards in Viareggio, Fano and Livorno offered the yachting market many examples of their ability to realise high-standard yachts. Benetti produces three different lines of yachts – Class, Displacement and Fast Displacement – with composite from 93ft to 145ft and Custom in steel and aluminium over 45m. As part of the Azimut | Benetti Group, the Italian shipyard is represented in many areas around the world, including an office in Hong Kong able to offer clients across Asia all the assistance they need. 74

In January last year the yard launched the 63m motor yacht 11.11, previously known as project FB265. This is the second yacht by Benetti with a vertical bow designed by the yard’s naval architects, who also developed the wide beam hull that provides an incredible interior volume. It is also highly customised, making it a deserving winner of the 2016 Asia Boating Award for Best Custom Built Yacht. “Benetti is delighted to have won the Asia Boating Award for Best Custom-built Yacht. 11.11 is an exceptional yacht and she truthfully deserves this award,” says Benetti Asia General Manager Nizar Tagi. “She has a distinctive hydrodynamic plumb bow which enhances fuel efficiency as she powers through the water, has two owner’s cabins and she is certainly an eye-catching boat. 11.11’s ability to turn heads will no doubt be enhanced by the 46 lights placed below the waterline, which should provide a spectacular sight at anchor after dark. When visiting Portofino in October last year with my friends, they all went ‘wow that looks more like a spaceship than a yacht!’ – I was very proud to hear this comment.” From the original project, 11.11 was redesigned significantly following the Owner’s requests -- maintain the steel hull and the aluminium superstructure, but make it four decks. The interior can accommodate 12 guests including the Owner in four cabins plus the Owner’s suite on the first upper deck. There is a huge VIP cabin on the main deck in the wide portion for the bow. The central part of the lower deck includes the four guests cabins, two twin and two doubles, each with private bathroom and a common guest lobby in the middle connected with the main deck. For the 16 crew in the second upper deck, there is the Captain’s cabin connected with the helm station and office and seven cabins each with private bathroom in the lower deck where the crew has a large living spaces, a mess equipped with entertainment systems and a lobby that connects all the decks allowing crew to serve in any part of the yacht without using with the private circuits for Owner and guests.

The shape of 11.11 is a modern design that recalls the past. For example, instead of a hard line the vertical bow is soft and harmonically connected with all the lines to the stern and superstructure. Considering that from the bow to mid-ship 11.11 is a wide-body yacht – meaning that the main deck on the bow area is part of the hull – the shape remains slick and light thanks to a superstructure realised with soft lines and vertical windows for the Owner’s suite and the helm station on top. The entire project was developed to ensure the maximum connection between the exterior and the interior, with constant contact to the sea

for the Owner and guests. Big windows provide a sea view from any part of the yacht, even if relaxing in the interior saloons of the main or upper decks. There are also windows that enclose the upper and sun decks. Another very important element is the accurate design of the helm stations inside and outside, from where the Captain has a total view of the yacht even when manoeuvring in small areas. The well-designed helm is complete with high-end electronic devices that assure total control of any systems on board and perfect handling. The interiors of the Benetti 11.11 are an example of the Italian shipyard’s ability to produce top-level yachts thanks to specialised workers who can produce fine craftsmanship and high-end finishes. There is complete attention to detail in all parts of the yacht, including the crew area. The cabins, saloon and common areas are full of custom elements such as sofas, tables, chairs and solutions like the sky lounge on the upper deck for informal gatherings. At the bow area inside the main deck, there is a rescue boat. In the stern garage, it is possible store an 8m limo tender, a Novurania 6m RIB tender, two Jet-Skis and other toys. This area is accessible by the large stern platform and a staircase on the right. The 11.11 displays all the abilities of the shipyard’s team to create a custom 63m yacht that redefines standards in terms of space, for example the private deck accessible from the Owner’s suite where a panorama view of the sea surrounds the bed.
With its steel hull and aluminium superstructure, 11.11 has a displacement of about 1,000 tonnes and a gross tonnage of 1,181. The Benetti engineering and design team developed the naval architecture and exterior design, while the interior design was done in cooperation between Benetti and the Owner’s design team. Many technical elements on this yacht were developed to produce the best in terms of performance. The result is a range of 5,000 nautical miles at the cruising speed of 16 knots, a maximum speed of 17 knots and a very low fuel consumption of 200 litres per hour at 12 knots using two Caterpillar 3512C each with 1,836 HP (1,350 kW). The electronics for yacht management, navigation and entertainment aboard 11.11 is state-of-the-art and offers a very high level of safety in any condition. The Italian shipyard developed a modern power management system and three HUG catalytic converters to reduce the environmental impact of the three generators. The noise and vibration reduction work by Benetti on this modern yacht has resulted in audio readings of 44.7dba in the master suite and 47.1dba in the VIP cabins, while vibration is 0.12 mm/s RMS in the master suite and 0.15 in the VIP cabins. Everything aboard this yacht is totally custom made by the workers of Benetti or from companies specialising in high-standard craftsmanship. THE ITALIAN BOATBUILDER Benetti (www.benettiyachts.it) has enlisted the Los Angeles-based automotive designer Henrik Fisker (www.henrikfisker.org) to craft a sporty 164-foot yacht series. Fisker’s credits include the BMW Z8, Aston Martin’s DB9 and V8 Vantage, and his now-defunct namesake brand’s Karma hybrid. The yacht will be built partly of carbon fibre and reclaimed wood (in the interior) and will be equipped with solar panels that are integrated into the exterior design. Each of the major cabins will be designed to optimise views of the ocean. Amenities will include a beach club, a spa, several bars, a pool, multiple sunbathing areas, and sleeping quarters for 12 guests. Benetti has not announced a price or production date. —L.B.

The timepiece is also equipped with a safety valve and a self-winding movement officially chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute). The ceramic bezel’s unidirectional ratcheted profile ensures an optimal grip. انضم فينتشينزو بوريو إلى شركة بينيتي في عام 1993عندما كانت الشركة عاما تمتلك أقل من 20سفينة. اإليطالية لبناء السفن والتي يبلغ عمرها ً 143 وتصنع اليوم ،يصل عدد األسطول العالمي لسفن بينيتي إلى قرابة 200سفينةّ ُ ، تدريبا في الهندسة الميكانيكية، حاليا .بوريو ،الذي تلقى 44سفينة أخرى ً ً تصميما يسعى دوما خلف اإلبداعات التالية ،سواء كانت نظام دفع جديدًا ،أو ً رياديا للهيكل. تصميما داخليا حدي ًثا ،أو ً ً ً ـــ مايكل فيردون Michael Verdon

Для Monaco Yacht Show роскошь не в диковинку, однако 82-метровая Romea от Abeking & Rasmussen стала на прошлой выставке одним из шоу-стопперов. Дизайн Теренса Дисдейла, которому принадлежит авторство и экстерьера, и внутреннего убранства мегаяхты, впечатляет продуманностью идеи и вниманием к деталям: кожаная отделка обработана так, что выглядит как металл, полы напоминают морскую гальку, а ковры – текстуру песчаных дюн. При взгляде на эту лодку возникает ассоциация с ракетой, и в данном случае сравнение близко к истине: Silver Fast – крупнейшая и самая быстроходная в мире алюминиевая моторная яхта с классической пропульсивной системой. При длине 77 метров она способна развивать скорость свыше 27 узлов и совершать длительные круизы на скорости 20-22 узла, а при 14 узлах запас хода составляет 6000 миль. Достичь таких показателей удалось за счёт оптимизации гидродинамики и малого водоизмещения – за блестящие конструкторские решения спасибо всемирно известному дизайнеру Эспену Оэйно, которого австралийская

На яхте имеется вертолётная площадка touch & go, рассчитанная на приём геликоптеров типа Agusta 109 или Eurocopter EC135. Размещение гостей предполагается в восьми каютах, причём в мастер-апартаментах есть даже приватная палуба. На корме расположен зимний сад, на сандеке – кинотеатр под открытым небом. Впечатляющий пляжный клуб оборудован полноценным спа-центром с сауной, парной, тренажёрным залом, массажным кабинетом и салоном красоты.

Почти вертикальный форштевень и зауженный нос яхты – не дань моде, хотя такая форма последние годы явно в тренде. Проектируя столь нехарактерный для своих лодок экстерьер, итальянская верфь Benetti руководствовалась соображениями практичности: эта конфигурация корпуса позволяет резать волну и существенно улучшает мореходные качества судна, причём потребление топлива заметно снижается. Два дизельных двигателя Caterpillar 3512C суммарной мощностью 3620 л. с. способны разогнать 63-метровую яхту до 17 узлов, в круизном режиме поддерживается скорость 15 узлов. Инновационность

Интерьер выдержан в контрастной гамме (тёмное дерево венге и текстиль цвета кофе с молоком, много отражающих поверхностей), а большая площадь наружного остекления позволяет дневному свету буквально пронизывать жилое пространство. Чтобы ещё больше усилить wow-эффект, ниже ватерлинии установили 46 мощных прожекторов – благодаря подсветке 11/11 ночью выглядит ещё фантастичнее.

Talijanski div Azimut Benetti već 16 godina sjedi na prijestolju u svojem segmentu. Naručitelje kojima je stabilnost poslovanja važan čimbenik u odabiru jahte smiruje podatkom o čak 63 broda u izgradnji. Projekt FB 265 naručio je jedan ruski klijent koji je naposljetku bio prisiljen odustati od kupnje, no kako je u tom trenutku projekt već bio prilično uznapredovao, kratko vrijeme do isporuke privuklo je novog klijenta, poslovnog čovjeka koji je imetak stekao razvojem luksuznih nekretnina. Nadareni dizajneri kuće Benetti spremno su se bacili na ispunjavanje svih želja novog vlasnika jahte, koji je s njima surađivao do kraja gradnje u pitanjima dizajna, rasporeda prostorija i unutarnjeg uređenja. Porinut 2015., Benetti 63 nazvan je 11-11, a najčešće ga uspoređuju s modelom 65 Nataly (ex-Amnesia IV, 2011.), s kojim dijeli zaobljen pramac. With 63 new build projects, the industrious activity of the Azimut and Benetti brands certainly engenders confidence in owners from whom the financial stability of a shipyard is a primary factor. Initially ordered by a Russian client who found it necessary to sell his project during build, hull FB 265 proved to be an attractive incentive for the current owner, who counts amongst his diverse portfolio of interests a luxury property development company. Utilizing the considerable resources of his talented in-house design team and working closely with Benetti, the owner set about refining the yacht’s design, layout and interior décor to better reflect the tastes and intended use. Launched in 2015, MY 11-11 features a distinctive plumb bow like that of MY Nataly (ex-Amnesia IV) a 65 m from Benetti’s FB

Moram odati priznanje Benettiju na razini profesionalnosti s kojom su svi njihovi stručnjaci pristupili ovom projektu. Bili su uistinu izvrsni.’ Vlasnik priznaje da se u izgradnju, opremanje i uređenje 11-11 i previše ‘petljao’, a njegov entuzijazam je i nama očit. Dok smo razgledavali 11-11, uvjerili smo se da su i vlasnik i brodogradilište odradili posao besprijekorno, Benetti 11-11 uređen je u modernoj verziji stila art deco, s detaljima renomiranih dizajnera i kompanija kao što su Bill Cleyndert i Madson Black. atmosfere, a njome dominiraju ulašteni kamen, mekana koža i tekstili. Svaka je mramorna i kamena ploča odabrana posebno, a vlasnik i dizajneri su posebnu pažnju obratili na žilice i uzorak u kamenu, koji se u svakoj prostoriji savršeno slažu i s elementima uređenja i sa svjetlosnom shemom. ‘Problem s mramorom je da s vremenom izgubi sjaj, bez obzira na završni sloj i na sve što su dizajneri obećavali’, kaže vlasnik s uzdahom. ‘Na tržištu se svako malo javljaju novi materijali, ali meni su draža jednostavnija rješenja, pogotovo na jahtama, koje mi često izgledaju prenatrpano i kao da se dizajner previše trudio.’ S tim se komentarom slažemo i tim više cijenimo čistu suvremenu estetiku njegove jahte u kojoj se ističe tek pokoji upadljiviji element. Nakon šetnje 11-11 upitali smo vlasnika koji mu je najdraži dio jahte. ‘Ovisi o dobu dana’, odgovorio je, razmišljajući. ‘Ujutro vjerojatno salon na najvišoj palubi, u kojem moja kći voli gledati crtiće, a ja s njom. Kad se trebam opustiti, to je hidromasažna kada vlasničkog apartmana, a kad su sa mnom na jahti prijatelji, vanjska blagovaonica na najvišoj palubi... Iskreno, na ovoj jahti ima mnogo lijepih prostora i u svima podjednako uživamo. Tako smo i željeli.’ Jahtu je originalno naručio ruski klijent, pa pitamo konačnog vlasnika koliko je promijenio u odnosu na njegove želje. ‘U kokpitu je bila golema dizalica’, kaže odmah pokazujući dio krme iznad krmenog zrcala. ‘Trebala je služiti garaži, u kojoj je između ostaloga trebao biti smješten i Rolls Royce. Nama to očigledno nije bilo od koristi, pa je tako dizalica uklonjena, čime je kokpit dobio na dimenzijama i sad je vrlo ugodan, savršen za druženje. Isto tako na gornjoj palubi trebala je biti kinodvorana, no to je sada krasna radna soba. Ukratko, najvažnije se izmjene odnose na način života.’ Za razliku od većine novih jahta ovih dimenzija, Benetti 11-11 nema beach club krmu, već se ispod nje krije golema garaža u kojoj su skrivene sve igračke, uključujući i custom tender od osam metara. Djelo Benettija, taj otmjeni tender izgledom se slaže s jahtom, a pokreće ga 3-litarski turbodizelski motor Mercury. Za manje formalna i zabavna poslijepodneva na vodi, jahta ima i drugi tender, 19’6’’ dugačku gumenu brodicu Novurania s Yanmarovim motorom od 260 KS. Nažalost, nismo ih imali prilike testirati jer nas je 11-11 dočekao u marini, no zaključili smo da su savršeno odabrani za ovu jahtu – baš kao i sve na njoj. Benetti 11-11 izuzetno je skladna jahta, u čemu je njezin ljubazni vlasnik bez sumnje odigrao najvažniju ulogu.
Bill Cleyndert and Madson Black can be found throughout the yacht, with items from their collections carefully selected for their practicality, comfort and contribution to the overall ambience. The prolific use of polished stone contrasts deliciously with the soft buttery leathers, shagreen panels and tactile textiles. Each panel of onyx and marble was hand picked, with its color and veining specifically chosen to emphasize the area it is fitted in. ‘The problem with marble is that it stains over time, whatever any consultant advises you with regards to sealing it,’ sighs the owner. ‘There are always new exciting materials on the market, but I personally like to keep things simple, especially on a yacht where many times it can feel like things are overdone and the designer was trying too hard.’ Having been afforded the opportunity to explore the many alluring charms and spaces of 11-11, we asked the owner where his favorite spot on-board would be? ‘It really depends upon the time of day,’ he muses. ‘In the morning it would probably be the sky lounge, with my daughter, watching her cartoons. Then, if I need some time to myself to relax that would be in the master suite’s Jacuzzi. When friends are aboard and we’re entertaining or having lunch, we head up to the top deck instead of the more formal dining area on the main deck… to be honest there are so many great spots on the boat and we use them all. We designed it to be that way.’ As the yacht was initially commissioned by a Russian client owner, who found it necessary to surrender the project during build, we asked what details had been changed from the original and why? ‘Here in the cockpit was a huge crane’, the owner replies point at the aft section above the transom. ‘It was included as the garage was intended to house a Rolls Royce Phantom. Obviously that wasn’t in our plans, so in removing the crane we dramatically increased the size of the cockpit, which is now a very social space and gets a lot of use. Also, on the upper deck, the space originally intended as a cinema we instead converted in a fantastic study which I use as my office when onboard, so that is well used too. Basically we looked at the original and adjusted it to suit our own lifestyle.’ Eschewing the prevailing fashion for an aft beach club, the transom plate instead conceals a cavernous tender garage where the 11-11’s toy inventory is stowed. There one finds a 8 m custom limo tender built by Benetti. Powered by a 3-liter Mercury turbo-diesel hooked up to Mercury duo stern drives, the tender was designed to a style that references the mother ship. For less formal transfers and fun afternoons on the water, a 19’ 6” Novurania RIB with 260hp Yanmar jet drive resides next to the limo in the garage. Unfortunately, being berthed alongside in the marina we had no excuse to make use of either, but upon departing, having enjoyed the warm hospitality of the owner and his staff, we reflected on an exceptionally well presented yacht.
