Benetti's Vivace 125 Iron Man echoes her young owner's fondness for the comic book hero, and she's packed with features that even billionaire inventor and engineer Tony Stark would approve of.

The 38.1-metre Iron Man, designed by Stefano Righini, is part of Benetti’s Fast Displacement range – she’s capable of a 24-knot top speed with her D2P (displacement to planing) hull. She has an aggressive exterior, with the angles and jags softened by the delicious arch over the upper deck. Miami-based designer Alfred Karram Jr – for whom this is a first yacht – created the interior. “The client has seen several of my properties before,” he says. “After 30 years of doing residences, it was going to be a learning curve for me, going to sea from land. But this is where the team at Benetti were really helpful. They always started with my idea and we went from there. Originally, I wanted onyx for the wall feature in the owner’s cabin, but that was too heavy. So it is now in resin. They key thing was that I was able to get my aesthetic into the yacht. I didn’t want it to feel like a boat, but rather a state-of-the-art residence.”

It’s a big part of the clients’ daily regime. I wanted to create a very hitech and functional case,” says Alfred. “We had to raise the ceilings to port and starboard for when people are on the equipment. We’ve included a special work-out floor, which is specially made for gyms.”

The main staircase appears has black leather treads with glass risers that have been cleverly back lit.

The guest area's layout and design were created by Sinot Design, in close collaboration with the owner. Five suites for ten guests are foreseen, with a complete deck given over to the owner's apartment. 14 crew members will assist the captain and look after the owner and guests.

Making her debut at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival for viewing by appointment-only, Iron Man was a stand out vessel at the event following her launch in June earlier this year.

Click to enlarge slideshow As a smaller version of Benetti’s 140 Veloce series, the Vivace 125 is built on an increasingly popular splitpersonality semi-displacement (displacement to planning, or D2P in short) hull form that offers a higher top speed in semi-planning mode, while providing an economical range during full-displacement cruising. She is equipped with an innovative series of azipod transitions designed specifically by Rolls Royce for Benetti, called carbon Azipull 65C pods. The exterior of Iron Man has been fitted with expansive exterior guest areas. The sun deck has been kept open with a selection of freestanding furniture that can easily be moved to suit any occasion. The owner requested an external piloting position to be fitted on the sun deck; a custom feature found on hull number one. Another entertainment area on board is the generous foredeck, which has been divided into smaller gathering and sun bathing areas. This is also where guests can relax in the Jacuzzi, treated to uninterrupted views. The interior was designed by Alfred Karram Jr of AKJ Design Concepts, who adopted the owner’s youthful spirit and request for a modern yet user-friendly space. Karram commented, “The goal of the design concept for the Iron Man project was to create a one of a kind space that would boast a highly innovative modern aesthetic look through the use of sharp and dramatic geometries.” The yacht has a four-cabin layout for her eight guests, with a full beam master suite forward on the main deck.

Whoever said superheroes are only for kids hasn’t met the owner of Iron Man, the first Vivace 125 from Benetti (http://www.benettiyachts.it). Like the fictional Tony Stark, he’s equal parts inventor and techno-geek (in a good way). Fitting, then, that this 124’10” (38.1-meter) megayacht embraces technological advances literally and thematically, through her construction, performance, and design inside and out. The Vivace 125 bears what Benetti calls a D2P hull form, meaning Displacement to Planing. It incorporates a wavepiercer bow and azipods. Equally important, it’s designed to burn less fuel than traditional semidisplacement yachts do at the higher speeds they reach. Simultaneously, the D2P design enjoys low fuel consumption at slower speeds, similar to full-displacement hull forms. Benetti has not released her fuel-burn figures, but says that Iron Man reached a 24-knot top end during sea trials, 2 knots more than expected. The yacht’s superstructure is additionally constructed with carbon fiber for a reported 40-percent weight savings over traditional all-composite construction. Upon stepping inside Iron Man, you see quite vividly how the theme of technology plays out in tones of gray, black, and white. The owner worked with Alfred Karram, Jr., a designer who strives for inventive space planning and architectural details. From the granite soles in the saloon (bold and beautiful, at that) to the backlit molten-glass risers of the stairway down to the guest stateroom, there’s many a corner to catch your eye. Black leather, gray-stained paneling, white and silver textured fabrics, glass and stainless steel tables… Iron Man has these and more. Even the alfresco areas aboard Iron Man are treated with gray and white gelcoat. (The teak decks remain their customary wood tone, though they’re still artistic. The planks are set at angles, coming together like the tip of an arrow.) Lest you believe there’s a lack of diversity in the decor, fear not. As the image at top reveals, the dining room is punctuated by a bright circular relief painting. The main-deck master suite has a forward wall made of different colors of resin. And wait until you see the day head photo in the gallery below; multi-colored stone, enrobed in resin, is a delight.

I spent quite a bit of time on this yacht at the Cannes show and it has the every latest yacht design and engineering trend (including carbon fiber pod drives) imaginable. Quite a remarkable yacht.

From Benetti: The Vivace 125′ compliments the Benetti Class Fast Displacement range’s flagship Veloce 140′ and is influenced by her construction technology, styling and layout. As of today, five units have been sold already. With a length of 38.1m and a beam of 8.3m, built in composites and carbon in the Viareggio yard, the Vivace 125′ is a three decked (plus the sun deck) semi wide body yacht. The sportive exterior was designed by Stefano Righini with a widespread use of horizontal windows that accentuate the streamlining, together with a remarkable central structure in the side of the superstructure that covers the access stairway to the upper deck. The furnishings, developed by the interior designer Alfred Karram Jr, are a referral to the very modern style, with a predominant use of grey wood next to the ceiling’s black and white. The crystal dining room table and steel detailing provide a clear sensation of technology. “The goal of the design concept for the Ironman project was to create a one of a kind space that would boast a highly innovative modern aesthetic through the use of sharp and dramatic geometries via the use of very unique and state of the art materials and finishes” said Karram. The exterior of Iron Man has four distinct areas devoted to the sea and on-board living. Astern on the upper deck we have a lounge with a custom divan over two meters long and almost five wide, while forward a swimming pool and area for relaxing are added to the traditional sun-deck. The owner also specifically requested that the deck be equipped with an external steering position. The beach area has its own bar and is completely dedicated to enjoying the sea, thanks to the non intruding lateral garage opening. The exterior spaces are finished in a special gray and white gel coating that adds a special brilliance to the entertaining areas. The teak flooring is designed to respect the angular geometries of the superstructure and hull. This is evident in the direction of the planking that consistently flows in a parallel direction to the angle of the bow. The starboard and port side planks all converge into one center plank that serves as a visual spine that runs the entire length of the boat. The interior layout features four suites for eight guests, plus the full beam owner’s apartment on the main deck. The captain will have a crew of seven for running the yacht and catering to the guests. On the main deck, the cockpit is furnished with a settee, tables and two armchairs, and the guests move to the main salon through a large sliding crystal door. Upon entering the Salon, the black, gray, and white book-matched granite floor creates a grand palatial entrance into the space. An intricately designed multitiered ceiling that is finished in alternating polished and matte gray lacquer delineates the furnished spaces below. deeply textured circular relief painting that is finished in a brilliant crimson medium. This piece of art seemingly floats against a striking black and silver aluminum tiled wall, creating a dramatic backdrop for the Dining room. A custom designed dining table base of sleek juxtaposed polished stainless steel columns support the crystal glass table top. All of the walls throughout are comprised of a cool gray stained exotic wood paneling that fully envelopes the entire space. The welcoming sofa seating is adorned with fine black leather hides, set off by a brilliant white and silver textured fabric. The day bathroom is done in backlit sheets of resin encased stone, creating a beautiful visual effect. The main staircase appears as a beautiful waterfall providing access to the wheel house and gymnasium above, and the VIP and guest suites below. Thick black leather treads softly flow over the custom designed molten glass risers, that when backlit, act as a stunning light source at night. Moving farther forward we reach the ownerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s apartment, composed of a spacious dressing room, his bedroom with a work table, a small salon and two bathrooms, his and hers, separated by a large shower in granite and mosaics. The Master Cabin features an upholstered suede accent wall, designed in alternating trapezoidal shapes. The LED TV is inset into a highly textured resin paneled wall, colored in different hues of cool blue, black and gray, with scattered ascents of silver and white flecks. The king size bed is shroud in soft gray leather, outfitted with sumptuous black satin linens, finished in a highly textured bed cover and pillows. A custom designed desk and coffee table continue the stainless steel and glass motif shared by other tables throughout. The design also foresees two large glass walls on either side that provide a perfect visual and natural light combination. kitchen. If the exterior of the upper deck is completely dedicated to the sun and relaxation, it has a very original interior layout. The owner desired a personal and well equipped gym to train in while cruising. The fully equipped gymnasium features the latest technology in health and fitness. Recessed arcs of light delineate the different workout stations, which are mimicked by the special colored vinyl flooring. A bent glass screen wall serves as a sculptural entrance into the wheel house. Dropping below to the lower deck, a central lobby leads to the four guest cabins. The two VIP queen size cabins are towards the stern, while the remaining two have twin bunks. All have their own private bathroom. Farther forward we have the laundry and crew area. The performance of Iron Man reflects her name – the Vivace 125’s D2P_Displacement to Planing® hull form with wave piercer is also equipped with an innovative series of Azipods. During sea trails performance was better than expected with a top speed of 24 knots, two more than were theorized in design. Her revolutionary hull form allows the owner to use the yacht both in displacement mode with low fuel consumption for slow deliveries and at higher speeds in complete comfort. The quiet ride was obtained through the use of her special propulsion system which allows the engine room to be placed farther aft, providing increased isolation for the guest cabins. The Vivace 125′ was awarded the RINA Comfort Class classification, which proves how silent and smooth her ride is. The yacht’s excellent performance is also due to the lightness of the hull, thanks to the introduction of carbon fiber and epoxy resins in the superstructure. This intelligent combination gives the yacht a 40% lighter weight when compared to traditional structures, where light weight equals improved performance.

Superyachts get ready for their big debuts and it’s a pleasure parade not to be missed. Not that we need an excuse to travel to Monaco this time of year — or any time of year, for that matter — but the Monaco Yacht Show definitely gives us reason to visit the principality. Forty new launches are unveiled in a world premiere each year. The largest megayacht event gets bigger every year, and here, size does matter. Feadship M/Y Kiss

For the September event (Sept. 2326), the Monaco Yacht Show is delivering its largest ever event on the Port Hercules waterfront. Show organizers are crediting this to yearlong events that promoted Monaco as a destination to those in Shanghai and Beijing — such as Monaco Week in those cities this past June and China Night in Monaco. The intention was to create relationships with the burgeoning superyacht owners in the Far East.

In an effort to promote even more exclusivity, this year is the first time for Monaco Yacht Show’s Sapphire Experience, a limited edition series of 100 special invites reserved for the most illustrious clients visiting the show. The LE includes exclusive boarding of many of the superyachts, lunch, and champagne at the Upper Deck Lounge — the spectacularly designed Paola Lenti VIP area that features Baccarat and Viennese fine silver by Winer Silber. their world debuts — are no exception.

Feadship’s M/Y Kiss and Moon Sand Kiss’s interiors is one of the most striking. The owner of the 152-foot (46.40-metre) motoryacht, Kiss, requested a master suite with a stateroom penthouse that boasts incredible views. The yacht’s aluminumplated sun roof retracts to let in more light. A spa tub invites relaxation on the sun deck. An unusual request by the owner, which makes the yacht a stand out, is its metallic paint exterior — black metallic hull with a red stripe at the waterline.

Moon Sand’s owners worked closely throughout the design and construction of the 145-foot superyacht, which was unveiled in April. Three key elements were integral: light, space, and freedom of choice in recreation. Large windows in the bridge deck lounge, main lounge, dining area, and forward owner’s stateroom create the light. The placement of the stairs, moved as far starboard as possible, were an effort to maximize space, as was a spacious sun deck that was designed as a pleasant area to enjoy breakfast with the option to change the space into an entertaining area.

For recreation, the swimming pool features an ingenious lifting floor system, which lowers down to provide a desired pool depth. Lowered halfway, the pool becomes a shallow kids’ pool. For ocean play, there are water toys aboard, including a jet bike, paddle boards, kayaks, and a dive compressor.

Moon Sand is considered one of the most specified ever in its class.

Silveryacht Silver Fast

Lürssen Solandge The 279-foot (85.1-metre) Solandge is one of the world’s most talkedabout superyachts and the largest at the Monaco show. Six decks provide space for up to 16 guests in eight cabins. While not an unveiling per se, Solandge was such a smash at last year’s yacht show — winning the 2014 La Belle Classe Superyachts Award and Best Exterior at the show — that its

return was most requested.

The ultimate relaxation and party boat, the deck is a sun bather’s delight by day, but at night, transforms into an outdoor cinema or party venue. It has a DJ booth, karaoke and lighting system, and a Jacuzzi that converts into a floating dance floor. Hidden away in the tank deck is an atmospheric, state-of-the-art cinema and 500-bottle wine cellar. A nineperson elevator swiftly takes guests from tank deck to bridge deck.

Silveryachts’ Silver Fast Silveryachts calls its fleet aerodynamic, eco fuel-efficient yachts that represent the future of sailing. Its new Silver Fast joins the fleet as the fastest, long-range cruising yacht and is most notable for its sleek appearance and sexy exterior lines. But what really is the selling point for Silver Fast is its excellent fuel efficiency, ocean-crossing ranges, and fast speeds.

Silver Fast is anticipated to be able to cruise from Australia to Europe, for instance, in 21 days — without stopping once to refuel. The 252-foot (77-metre) aluminum-built Silver Fast accommodates 16 guests. The owner’s suite has nearly an entire deck to itself. Its apartment-style configuration features a lounge and private outdoor living area with 3 double, VIP guest suites on deck. Four guest staterooms are belowdecks. A customized sauna and eightperson spa tub lend to the relaxing amenities found on board. There’s also a “winter garden” area, which is glass enclosed and air conditioned for all year, all-weather use, with enough seating for 20.

Potential owners of the new Aston Martin powerboats, which get their official presentation in September at the Monaco Yacht Show, have been getting news of the revolutionary new series of stunning speedboats on a strictly one-to-one basis ever since the British carmaker revealed its plans in May. But that’s all starting to change.

Quintessence Yachts and Aston Martin Dubai gathered invited guests at the Armani Hotel in Dubai in June to talk more in-depth about the new AM37.

This is a powerboat for a modern James Bond.

The first model will be the AM37, which is expected to have a maximum speed of 50 knots or 58 m.p.h., while the sportier AM37 S is expected to reach 60 knots (68 m.p.h.). “We need to open our world to water,” according to Aston Martin design director Marek Reichman.

Making quite an impression was the powerboat’s unique sliding deck, which allows owners to completely cover the cockpit of the boat at the end of their day out on the water, protecting it from the elements and any intruders.

The deck consists of three carbon panels which can be operated by the electronic command of the AM37 key. With a simple click of a key, owners can close their boats and leave them ready for the next ride.

refrigerator, and espresso machine can be started by remote while still at home or driving to the marina.

The AM37 also features integrated navigation, control monitor, and entertainment systems. The user interface of the multimedia and entertainment system is installed in the 15-inch HD touchscreen on the dashboard, which guests can also use. Owners will have their own dedicated displays for monitoring engine status and navigation.

Staying true to its heritage, Aston Martin announced the boats will be made in Southampton in the south of England. Quintessence Yachts is a Dutch manufacturer.
