Fit for purpose By William Mathieson | Other articles by this author SuperyachtNews.com was on hand at FLIBS to see first-hand, one of the most unique arrangements ever seen on a semi-custom superyacht, with the debut of Benetti’s Cheers 46. Cheers 46 is the first hull to be launched in Benetti’s Veloce 140’ range, explained CEO Vincenzo Poerio at the FLIBS press conference, with a further four commissioned since, and four more of the 125’ sister platform also in the order book. Purchased by two brothers, who act as co-owners and have upgraded to their first Benetti from am Azimut Grande 116, in the words of her captain, Kelly Esser, “she appeals to the younger generation.”

And this is where her layout comes into play. The size of the master suite has been significantly reduced, and is located on the lower deck alongside two double suites and two guest suites.

Benetti Launches the Veloce 140 Yacht John Lyon NOVEMBER 17, 2014 The first example from Benetti’s new fast displacement range of semicustom megayachts was launched at this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The Veloce 140 is equipped with a new displacement-to-planing hull that allows it to reach relatively high speeds while still retaining the stability of a traditional displacement hull when cruising at lower velocities. Driven by two 3,500 hp MTU engines—the most powerful Benetti has ever employed—the 140-foot yacht can reach a top speed of 21 knots. Its spacious sundeck offers guests 829 square feet of space and is equipped with a hot tub and a long bar. The upper deck has an open layout that seamlessly transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. At the bow on that deck, an intimate lounging area features sun beds and a second, deep hot tub. The forward portion of the main deck is dominated by a large, full-beam gym outfitted with Technogym equipment, while the aft section houses the yacht’s 12-person dining table and main saloon. Below-deck accommodations include the owner’s cabin, two double-bed cabins, and two additional cabins equipped with twin and Pullman beds. Taking place at the 55th Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, Benetti successfully launched the Veloce 140’, the first yacht of the Fast Displacement series. Veloce 140’, the new jewel in the crown of the Benetti Class Fast Displacement rage, is a yacht with a great personality, deriving both from the technological innovations of the hull propulsion systems and from the distinctive design and furnishings. The most distinguishing feature is the new D2P hull designed by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture Studio and the Azimut|Benetti Research and Development Centre. The most obvious advantages consist of the energy-saving, 12 knot cruising speed and the ability to travel at high speeds (over 20 knots) in total comfort. The Veloce 140’ – a semi-custom yacht with a D2P (Displacement to Planing) hull – is an innovative project aimed at both Benetti enthusiasts, eager for greater speed, and those who are approaching the Tuscan shipyard for the first time, in the knowledge of being able to rely on high-performance yachts with comfortable displacement speeds.

The hull, first built for a yacht owner and a trusty Azimut|Benetti customer, is characterised by highly customised interiors, starting with the layout, which may be designed according to the customer’s requirements. The Exterior Styling & Concept was developed by Stefano Righini, while the interior design is the work of the British RWD (Redman Whitely Dixon) in collaboration with the owner’s designer. A notable feature is the large Sun Deck covers more than 77 metres on the highest ‘bridge’ of the new Benetti yacht. Here, too, class and functionality blend seamlessly. This large terrace overlooks the sea is dominated by a central pool facing the most spectacular living area of the yacht.

O Grupo Azimut|Benetti apresentará dezoito modelos barcos no 55º Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, que acontece de 30 de outubro a 3 de novembro de 2014. Entre eles, está o lançamento mundial de um modelo de 47 metros e de dois novos iates para o mercado americano.

O luxuoso Benetti Veloce 140' é o primeiro modelo da série Fast Displacement. É um modelo semicustomizado de 47 metros com inovações tecnológicas significativas no sistema de propulsão e casco, sem falar do seu estilo distinto. A chave para este modelo é o novo casco D2P, projetado pelo departamento de Pesquisa & Desenvolvimento do Grupo.

Esse casco dá a escolha de uma velocidade de cruzeiro de 12 nós com baixo consumo de combustível ou a velocidade mais rápida de mais de 20 nós durante a viagem com total conforto. Its outside areas, like the sizeable sun deck overlooking the sea, central swimming pool, and upper deck, are great places to spend those long summer days in complete comfort, enjoying the vistas and the ocean breeze. The main deck features a large gym at the bow, which makes great use of the ship’s wide beam. In addition to this, Veloce 140’ can accommodate up to ten guests in four cabins, and also boasts a lavish owner’s suite.

The hull and propulsion system are quite technologically advanced. By Gemma Fottles Presented at the Monaco Yacht Show this year, the 58 meter four decked steel and aluminium motor yacht Illusion V was built at the Benetti Livorno shipyard and launched earlier this year. She boasts designs by Green & Mingarelli and has been sold to a European owner. Designed for commercial charter use, the owner will also use her privately. We stepped on board in Monaco.

â&#x20AC;&#x2039; Inside, the main deck cockpit is the first area to be found when coming aboard Illusion V, and is notably spacious. A large c-shaped sofa with twin coffee table and comfortable lounge chairs accompanies the corner bar.

aft location of the air vents, the area is spacious, bright and welcoming and, in addition, the walls are fully in glass, working to fill the room with an abundance of natural light.

Furthermore, on deck the gunwales in front of the windows have been lowered to view the sea from inside and inundate the salon with light.

She accommodates up to 12 guests over several luxurious staterooms. Located amidships on the lower deck is the VIP cabin, which takes advantage of almost 11 metres of beam.

â&#x20AC;&#x2039; The remaining luxurious cabins consist of three twins, one of which includes a Pullman berth, as well as one double suite. All of the guest accommodation comes with opulent en-suite facilities. A crew of up to 12 is also accommodated for over four single crew cabins and a double for the chief engineer, each with its own bathroom. There is separate access to all decks from the crew quarters, guaranteeing maximum privacy for the guests and increasing the crews efficiency in service.

The full beam ownerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s suite is preceded by a relax lounge area with large lateral windows and a beautiful sofa to one side. The owners bathroom, just like the bathroom found in the VIP suite, is entirely finished with an onyx dĂŠcor, with both sinks in carved marble.

Extremely spacious, with two entryways and his and her dressing rooms, it includes an enormous central shower, a bathtub and twin toilets. A fantastic characteristic of this area is the lack of noise. Noise and vibration reduction throughout the yacht was a specific request made by the owner, and the Benetti technicians, together with a Danish company specialised in noise reduction,granted this request.

Elsewhere located on the lower deck is a spacious beach area with an ample bar zone. The beach area is distinctly separate from the garage, which opens laterally for launching and recovering the tender and the two jet skis. There is also generous room in the garage for wetsuits and diving gear to ensure that guests are able to explore the surroundings of the yacht.

The owners interior designer, in collaboration with the Benetti design office, personally chose the style of furnishings and dĂŠcor, with a dominant theme of Rose, while the choice and combination of the materials used includes travertine, wood, and several kinds of marble alternate with other more unusual materials: ray-skin, coco or slivers of mother of pearl. In the guest area all the walls are covered with black walnut panels, with a special design: to augment contrast and movement, the walnut panels are alternated with parchment covered panels. The Lalique crystal insets add yet another touch of elegance, and reflect the natural lighting. The ivory leather ceilings complete the effect of space and light.

Outside on the open upper deck a beautiful 14 place dinner table and mobile bar is found, while inside there is another small salon with sofas, entertainment area, and a corner bar.

Fun and relaxation are the central themes that determine the upper deck layout, where we also find a small movie theater (which if needs be, can be converted into an extra cabin), a wine cellar and a cold-box for cigars.

From the stern, the sun deck is found. A mosaic Jacuzzi is surrounded by sunbathing recliners, mobile bar, barbecue grill and dinette.

Performance wise, Illusion V has a 15 knot fast cruising speed. At the 12 knot normal cruising speed, she has a 5,000 nautical mile range. Propulsion is provided by twin CAT 3512C motors, developing 1,380 kw each. Generators are twin CAT C9 Gensets for 200 kw each, plus a third CAT C4.4 generator for 82 kw.

Fourth Benetti Veloce 140 superyacht sold Monday, 10 November 2014

By Merijn de Waard! Superyacht broker Dmitry Lukin of Merle Wood & Associates has announced the sale of the fourth Benetti Veloce 140 superyacht. The first Benetti Veloce 140 was delivered only three months ago and she made her first public appearance earlier this month at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

â&#x20AC;&#x2039;

The 42.67 metre superyacht is part of the Benetti Fast Diplacement range and features exterior styling by Stefano Righini. One of her most notable features is the new D2P hull designed by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture Studio and the Azimut|Benetti Research and Development Centre. Some significant advantages to this hull design include energy saving, a 12 knot cruising speed and the ability to travel at speeds over 20 knots in total comfort. The Benetti Veloce 140/04 will be delivered in April 2016.

The third in the Picchiotti Vitruvius series from the Perini Navi Group, Grace E was launched earlier this year and made her world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show in September. Read More

Vid den nyligen avslutade Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show var det världspremiär för ett antal båtar i alla storleksklasser. Bland de riktigt stora båtarna var en av de hetaste premiärerna den nya och snabba superyachten Benetti Veloce 140.

Yachten sjösattes i år och är en både elegant och lyxig motoryacht för den som söker det allra finaste. Veloce 140 är konstruerad av Benetti Yachts. Denna superyacht representar 42 m av maximal lyx. Hon är designad av Stefano Righini medan Redman Whiteley Dixon står för all inre design. Som flaggskeppet bland serien med Benetti Class Fast Displacement är denna yacht fullproppad med tekniska innovationer och finesser. Det mest tydliga är det nya D2P-skrovet (Displacement to Planing), konstruerat av Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture Studio tillsammans med Azimut|Benetti Research and Development Center. marschfart och möjligheter att köra ända upp till hastigheter över 20 knop. Den första Veloce 140 är byggt till en tidigare trogen kund till Azimut Benetti. Yachten har inredning designad av brittiska RWD-Redman Whiteley Dixon i samarbete med ägarens egna designers och Joao Armentano. Träslagen och färgerna går i ljust grått med silver och olika färger av alcantara. I det stora motorrummet huserar de största motorerna som Viareggiobaserade Benetti har installerat hittills: två stycken MTU 12V 4000 M93L 3500 hk dieselmotorer. Båten har även ett system med elektriska fenstabilisatorer från CMC Marine. Veloce 140 har plats för tolv gäster och åtta besättning. Toppfarten är 21 knop och marschfarten 16,5 knop. After unveiling this world-class attraction at the 2014 Monaco Yacht Show, Benetti has released more information on the brand-new Illusion V (ex Illusion I) alongside a number of stunning photos. This 58 metre motor yacht boasts a precision layout with style, space and staying power which places this yacht amongst the elite of the global superyacht fleet. Illusion V, whose external design is the beautiful result of the Benetti design team with considerable input from the Owner and his design staff, has four decks plus a sun-deck. This superyacht is perfectly poised for both private use and commercial charter - represented by Camper & Nicholsons - thanks to a layout which includes one VIP and four guest cabins in addition to the owner’s cabin, giving her a total capacity of up to 13 passengers. The Lower deck is given over to the guests. Aft, those on board can find a beach area with an ample bar zone and a stylish finish: here the Owner wanted to have the same level of decor as found in the guest areas. The beach area is distinctly separate from the garage, which opens laterally for launching and recovering the tender and the two jet skis. There is also generous room in the garage for wetsuits and diving gear. Moving forward, beyond the engine rooms, we enter the VIP cabin. Located amidships, the cabin takes full advantage of almost eleven meters of beam. The spectacular bathroom is placed parallel to the vessels side, offering a priceless view. bathroom. There is separate access to all decks from the crew quarters, guaranteeing maximum privacy for the guests and increasing the crews efficiency in service. The Main Deck cockpit, the first area to be found when coming aboard, is very spacious. A large c-shaped sofa with twin coffee table and comfortable lounge chairs has its own complete corner bar. The main salon is dominated by the Owners refreshing choice of locating the dinner table for ten next to the entryway: it is entirely dedicated to entertainment. And thanks to the aft location of the air vents, the area is very spacious and bright – the walls are fully in glass and fill the room with a splendid natural light. And for even more light, on deck the gunwales in front of the windows have been lowered to view the sea from inside and literally inundate the salon with light. Main salon is furnished with three large sofas, supplied by the Owner, along with a low table and a retractable wide screen TV. From forward, the bar overlooks it all. The owners interior designer, in collaboration with the Benetti design office, personally chose the style of furnishings and décor, with a dominant theme of Rose, while the choice and combination of the materials used is quite special. Travertine, wood, and several kinds of marble alternate with other more unusual materials: ray-skin, coco or slivers of mother of pearl.

In the guest area all the walls are covered with black walnut panels, with a special design: to augment contrast and movement, the walnut panels are alternated with parchment covered panels. The parchment is very difficult to work with, but the yards artisans managed to completely satisfy the owner’s needs and the grain evident in the chosen materials creates a very suggestive contrast. The Lalique crystal insets add yet another touch of elegance, and reflect the natural lighting. The ivory leather ceilings complete the effect of space and light. Another notable element on board is the complete silence. Noise and vibration reduction throughout the yacht was a specific request made by the Owner, and the Benetti technicians, together with a Danish company specialized in noise reduction, succeeded admirably. This is why everything is double sealed and there is carpet in the crew area.

The world debut of the Benetti Veloce is set to take place at the next Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2014 - taking place from 30 Oct-3 Nov. Veloce 140’, the new jewel in the crown of the Benetti Class Fast Displacement range, is a yacht with a great personality, deriving both from the technological innovations of the hull and propulsion systems, and from the distinctive design and furnishings. The most distinguishing feature is the new D2P hull designed by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture Studio and the Azimut|Benetti Research and Development Center. The most obvious advantages consist of the energy-saving, 12-knot cruising speed and the ability to travel at high speeds (over 20 knots) in total comfort. The Veloce 140’hull, first built for a yacht owner and a trusty Azimut|Benetti customer, is characterized by highly customized interiors, starting with the layout, which may be designed according to the customers' requirements. The Exterior Styling & Concept was developed by Stefano Righini, while the interior design is the work of the British RWD-Redman Whiteley Dixon, in collaboration with the owner's designer. The interior and exterior decor was entrusted to the international architect Joao Armentano. The woods used mainly include light gray TAY and slate gray TABU for the flooring. The decorative elements are in a silver lacquer finish and the ceilings in alcantara and a white lacquer finish. All stainless steel features come with a satin finish. The interior furnishings are by Minotti, the lamps by Flos and the taps and fittings by Gessi. As regards the technological heart of 140’, it is worth noting the use of the largest engine ever mounted at the Viareggio Benetti shipyard: two MTU 12V 4000 M93L 3500 mhp engines. It is also equipped with a system of CMC Marine electrical fin stabilizers.

The Italian presence at Bahia Mar is profound, especially along the Face Dock where the large luxury yachts reside. On Thursday night Monte Carlo, the French-Italian luxury yacht builder owned by Beneteau, introduced two models — the more traditionally styled 86-foot cruiser MCY 86 and the Mediterranean trawler-inspired 45-foot MC 4. “The most important thing about the 86,” Monte Carlo president Carla Demaria told Trade Only Today,” is that it was built specifically from the ground up for the American market instead of adapting a European design. We did that because we did not want to compromise anything.” The U.S. focus seems to resonate. The 86 on display has already been sold by Denison Yacht Sales, Monte Carlo’s exclusive dealer in the States, and will be home-ported in Florida. The Ferretti Group is showcasing 15 new yachts in Fort Lauderdale across four of its brands along the Face Dock at the Bahia Mar. Most impressive is the Riva 122 Mythos, a 122-foot aluminum alloy yacht — the largest boat in the 173-year history of Riva, which made its name with stylish runabouts. “There’s only one manufacturer that can take you from 27 feet to 90 meters and that company is Riva,” Alberto Galassi, the Ferretti Group’s global CEO since May, said Thursday. The line of new boats from Ferretti brands on display along E Dock also includes the Ferretti 960, 870, 800 and 690, and the Pershing 92, 82, 74 and 62. Custom builder Benetti introduced the Veloce 140, the first model in the Fast Displacement Class from the Italian builder. “displacement to plane” hull and advanced propulsion, as well as a proprietary touchscreen wheelhouse and an electronic stabilizing system. “I’ve never helmed a yacht that cut through seas as effortlessly as this one, even at top speeds,” said Kelly Esser, the captain of Cheers 46. Top speed of the Veloce 140, powered by twin 3,500-hp MTU 12V 4000 M93L engines, is more than 20 knots. The cruising speed is 12 knots. Another custom builder, Sanlorenzo, continues its push into the U.S. market with the debut of the SD112. Built for an American owner, the 112-foot tri-deck motoryacht features a raised pilothouse design that includes a Jacuzzi tub surrounded by sunpads on the top deck. The company said it has sold six SD112s, and George Jousma, president of Sanlorenzo Americas, was quick to wrap up a press conference that was delayed while he met with a Sanlorenzo customer. “I want to be out there to sell some boats,” he said as he headed back out onto the docks. I’ve been aboard a lot of Benetti yachts over the years, both custom and series-built, but I was totally unprepared for what I encountered during my time aboard Ocean Paradise. In some ways, the 180-foot !motoryacht is quite traditional, with an aluminum superstructure and a steel displacement hull featuring a prominent bulbous bow. Her interior, however, is utterly unique. The owner didn’t want anything he’d ever seen ashore or afloat, leaving Benetti’s in-house design team open to fill the canvas with something totally new. Intended for both charter and private use, Ocean Paradise not only meets the owner’s spec, but also lives up to her name, with guest comfort paramount.

skylights aren’t real; they’re recesses in the overhead that utilize LED lighting to create the desired impression. Various type and color LEDs allow infinite setting combinations to create any mood you want. The color scheme throughout the yacht is predominantly white with black accents for definition. Pillows, throw rugs and loose chairs accent the spaces with bold splashes of color. Lots of glass and mirrors create a never-!ending interplay of light. Guests are accommodated in four queen staterooms below deck amidships, a master suite forward on the main deck and a VIP stateroom between the navigation area and the sky lounge on the bridge deck. Two of the four lower staterooms include pullman berths for flexible guest arrangements, but Ocean Paradise normally operates with a complement of 12 guests who enjoy the ultimate in indoor and outdoor pleasures. From the beach club aft at water level to the top-deck spa forward, and from the main-deck salon to the sky lounge above, guest areas abound. At the stern, a central section of the reverse transom folds out to expand the beach club that’s tucked into the hull, with the expansion making guest access to the water easier. The main deck carries a large open area aft, as does the bridge deck. Nicely, the aft central portion of the bridge deck has been kept open, allowing guests to stand at the rail. It may seem an insignificant design detail, but people-watching from that vantage point is often a favorite activity when Med-moored in ports such as Monte Carlo, Cannes or Antibes.

The Superyacht of the Future?

Because the main tender is stowed in a side-opening garage aft and the rescue RIB and personal watercraft are forward, this yacht’s top deck is fully devoted to guest pursuits. The after portion is flexible, sometimes filled with sun lounges and at other times set up for alfresco dining or dancing under the stars. A lounge and bar area are in the shade of the radar and satcom arch. Forward is a sizable spa with a waterfall feature and retractable umbrellas, providing what is arguably the second-best seat in the house. The first is the jewel of a balcony that’s part of the owner’s suite. Permanently recessed into the starboard side rather than folding out, the private balcony is usable at anchor, in port or underway. Though it can be outfitted with a small table and a couple of chairs, a hanging wicker basket shaped like a cutaway egg swayed ever so gently from its short tether the day I was aboard. It wasn’t hard to imagine curling up inside with a cool libation and letting the gentle motion of the ocean induce a little snooze time. The younger set may obsess about their smartphones, with an app for almost everything, but my motto is “There’s a nap for that,” and this little cocoon might just be the perfect spot. The remainder of the master suite includes a den/office off the main entry foyer, equally suitable for entertaining special guests or receiving business associates. Her main stateroom, with seating to starboard and a king berth to port, spans the yacht’s full beam, nearly 30 feet at this point. The head includes a freestanding soaking tub partitioned from the stateroom by a glass bulkhead. A hanging locker to port completes the suite. Walking through Ocean Paradise, it’s obvious that particular attention was paid to the separation of guest relaxation and crew working areas. That’s an important consideration on a charter yacht where guests new to the pastime may inadvertently wander into the wrong place at the wrong time and risk injuring themselves. A good example of this yacht’s smart separation is the bridge deck, where a Portuguese bridge and protected passage to the foredeck provide guests with a view at the bow while underway, docking, anchoring or in other close-!quarters maneuvering; however, this entire area can be closed to guests, allowing the crew to carry out the captain’s orders without distraction. Those guests who want to watch can do so from the safety of the top deck, because wing stations below serve in place of a flybridge. Such a sensible layout reflects an experienced owner making sensible decisions in conjunction with a reputable charter agency, Y.CO in this case. There’s plenty of room for the larger crew that’s needed in charter service, as well as for support activities such as food stowage, prep and service. Comfort comes not only from the crew, of course, but also from the yacht herself. Ocean Paradise gets a head start on that by having engines that are larger than necessary to propel her long, lean displacement hull, and then operating them at a significantly reduced speed. Turning at just 1,800 rpm, twin Caterpillar 3512 C32s will not only operate quietly and with negligible vibration, but they should also have a long life. Benetti has come a long way since I first visited the Viareggio shipyard nearly 20 years ago. It’s expanded to a second yard, much larger and more open, a few miles south on Italy’s

western coast, but the progress has been about more than the size of its facilities and the length of its yachts. Attention to detail, both in finish and in systems engineering, has been impressive as well, allowing the builder to offer yachts that hold their own against the competition.
