BENETTI’S NEW PROJECT MEDITERRANEO 116’ During the Canes Boat show Benetti showcased an interesting new model addition to their Displacement Class range: the Benetti Mediterranean 116'. Measuring 35.3m the profile is unmistakably Benetti, but exhibits a smoother and more slender direction stylistically for the range. Her decks are lengthened towards the stern, moving the visual center of gravity amidships and giving the lines a more balanced, dynamic and compact aspect. The six meter wide cockpit gives way to the main salon through 6’ wide doors and inside one discovers 9’ tall picture glazing. Further forward of the salon is the on-deck master, again with enormous windows, and his-and-hers en-suites. Guest accommodation is contained to the lower deck, following the classic layout: four twin cabins (the two aftermost are VIP cabins) and two twin cabins with identical berths, each with its own en-suite bathroom. Each cabin has windows over 5’ tall, so where Benetti is headed with this model is clear! www.azimutbenetti.it

AMERICA’S BOA SHOW From the editors of Yachts International

Every fall, yachting enthusiasts turn their attention to South Florida to see the latest and greatest the industry has to offer for the coming season. Now in its 56th year, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show promises to be the grandest yet, with more than 3 million square feet of product – in the water and out, ranging from the tiniest tenders to the most spectacular superyachts – spanning seven locations. For 2015, fast is in, fuel efficiency is key, convertibles are king and inside/ outside living space is what the boaters want. Several brand-new models are scheduled to make appearances at the show. Some are making their world debuts. Others are surfacing in the United States for the first time. Here’s a sample of some of the new aquatic playthings showgoers can experience on the docks this year.

FEADSHIP | ROCK.IT | 198 FEET (60.4 METERS) ROCK.IT is not only the largest new yacht at the show, she is also (at time of press) the Queen of the Show. “She is a true 21st-century yacht,” according to Henk de Vries, director of Feadship. Launched in 2014, one of ROCK.IT’s singular features is a control system that allows the yacht to keep her heading at anchor, hovering on the main engine and the thrusters. A three-axis steering joystick with a rotational factor enables various maneuvering modes. Designer Sander Sinot calls her “sleek and bold, without being pretentious.” feadship.nl

BENETTI CRYSTAL 140 | SOY AMOR | 140 FEET (42.7 METERS) Named after the transparent solid mineral that emits light, Benetti’s Crystal series aptly describes this debut yacht, which is as solid as she is bright. Soy Amor has beautiful lines, and her flashy interior includes a back-lit marble waterfall in the main foyer plus a fireplace in the salon. The bridge electronics represent the very latest in technology. Her striking exterior design and concept are by Stefano Righini. benettiyachts.it

ADMIRAL IMPERO | NONO | 121 FEET (37 METERS) Nono is a semi-displacement raised-pilothouse motoryacht from The Italian Sea Group designed by Luca Dini with interiors by Admiral Centro Stile. Made of aluminum, she is distinguished by large glass windows that wrap around the main deck forward and by full-height sliding glass doors in the salon that open to the aft deck. theitalianseagroup.com

NUMARINE 70 FLYBRIDGE | 70 FEET 10 INCHES (21.6 METERS) Making her U.S. premiere, the 70 Flybridge hopes to replicate the success of the builder’s hardtop model. She’s a big boat – albeit manageable without crew – with plenty of lounging, dining and socializing space, and the salon is flooded with natural light. A shorter version, the 60 Flybridge, also makes her American debut. numarine.com

AZIMUT 72 | 74 FEET 3 INCHES (22.6 METERS) This American debut yacht with exterior design by Stefano Righini and interior by Carlo Galeazzi combines two modern construction techniques: the hull and deck are entirely molded fiberglass, while the deckhouse and flybridge are carbon fiber. The resulting 30 percent weight reduction yields more deck surface and interior volume, accommodating eight guests in four staterooms. Other U.S. premieres at the Azimut stand include the sporty Atlantis 43, the Magellano 66, the 77S and the new long-range family cruiser Magellano 76. azimutyachts.com

VIKING 80 CONVERTIBLE | 80.5 FEET (24.5 METERS) This world premiere is so new that we could only show a rendering, so you’ll have to see her in person at the show. With a sheer line sporting 9 feet of freeboard forward and tapering to a little over 3 feet astern, the 80’s dramatic hull form was designed to divert spray downward while barreling along in excess of 40 knots. Her 217-squarefoot cockpit is equipped for tournament fishing. vikingyachts.com

FERRETTI 550 | 55 FEET (16.8 METERS) Marking the return of the flybridge to Ferretti’s under-60 fleet, the 550 offers three interior layouts for the owner’s consideration, plus a 250-mile range at 30 knots. ferretti-yachts.com

OTAM 58HT | 58 FEET (18.7 METERS) Sporty and fast, the Otam 58HT hits 54 knots on command. Too quick for your taste? No problem. She cruises at a more economical 47. otam.it

ZEELANDER 55 | 55 FEET 7 INCHES (17 METERS) Big sister to the Z44, the 55 yields 27 percent more living space. You won’t miss her on the dock. Just look for the high-gloss metallic paint job synonymous with the Dutch builder. Her sunroof spans the entire bridge for a true convertible feel as you cruise down the waterway. Slide up to the bar in one of the stools on the extended aft deck, or curl up in the roomy full-beam master below. With a large swim platform and side-loading tender garage, she’s the ultimate pocket superyacht. zeelander.com

WAJER 38S | 38 FEET (11.6 METERS) Dutch yacht builder Wajer & Wajer will tout its new 38S, based on the original Osprey 38, which debuted last year. While the Osprey was designed as the ultimate day boat, the 38S center console model was conceived with water sports clearly in mind, with tons of storage for toys. An LED-lit bimini top covers the helm and a flared bow design keeps the cockpit dry, even while pushing 47 knots. wajer.nl
