Benetti delivers Genesis II to Asia 26 November 2015 by Laura Nineham

The 55.85 metre Benetti superyacht Genesis II has been delivered to her owners in Hong Kong. Genesis II â&#x20AC;&#x201C; known only by her hull number FB266 previously â&#x20AC;&#x201C; is a close sistership to Lady Candy. The interior of both these superyachts was designed by Central Yacht and share some details such as a 100msq saloon on the main deck, the upper deck layout with two master suites and the wheelhouse on the fourth deck.

Genesis II has been delivered to her owner

Where Lady Candy has a large beach club, there will be a stern garage for Genesis II. Some of the exterior styling has also been updated to the new ownerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s wishes. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s not known if Genesis II will share other interior features with Lady Candy, such as a dedicated cinema, private offices to complement the master suites and private crew areas that allow the crew to work safely and relax during extended cruises.

We do know that Genesis II is 900GT and has a cruising speed of 15 knots. She has a steel hull, an aluminium superstructure and a teak deck. This full displacement yacht spent a brief season cruising the Mediterranean this summer ahead of her delivery. Genesis II was transported from Genoa to Hong Kong by Sevenstar Yacht Transport, who shared the images of the luxury yacht in transit.

First Benetti Mediterraneo 116 sold to US buyer 6 November 2015 by Philip Reynolds

Italian builder Benetti has announced the sale of the first hull from its new Mediterraneo 116 yacht to a US buyer. The Viareggio-based yard used the platform of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to announce the sale, which the company said was sealed in North America earlier this year. The sale comes near the end of what has been a fruitful 2015 for Benetti, which has sold 18 yachts worldwide, including eight to the US market. Hull No 1 is due for delivery next year. Benetti introduced the Mediterraneo 116, the newest model in its Displacement Class range, at the Cannes boat show in September. The 30.5 metre yacht marks a new direction in exterior layout and design for Benetti while still carrying forward the family styling. “It’s very much connected to the roots of the Displacement Class, while opening the door too a new era,” Benetti said.

One forward looking design feature is the extensive use of carbon fibre. The exterior design is sleek, slender and decks are designed to flow seamlessly. The cockpit on the Mediterraneo 116 is notably wide – six metres – and crystal, three metre tall doors open into the main saloon. This interior space is designed for entertaining, welcoming up to 12 guests. Full-height, frameless picture windows will give amazing views of the passing views outside. The exterior lines have kept the classic Benetti proportions, and some things remain unchanged, such as the standard lower deck layout with four twin cabins – two VIPs and two twins, each with en suites. The guest cabin portholes have been updated, though, with 1.6 metre windows bringing in light and incredible views right at the water level. A swimming pool is specified as standard on the foredeck, but Benetti says this area is customisable. Outdoor living will also be enjoyed in the 80 square metre sun deck up top. The displacement hull Mediterraneo 116 should reach a top speed of 15 knots powered by twin MAN V-12 engines and have a cruising range of 3,000 nautical miles.

Benetti Mediterraneo 116: first unit sold NOVEMBER 23, 2015

Benetti has announced the sale of the 35.5-metre Mediterraneo 116, the first unit in a new range. The yacht is in build and will be delivered next year.

With an interior by Benetti, the GRP yacht sleeps ten guests and seven crew. Much emphasis has been placed on the outside spaces, with a six-metre-wide cockpit, and open area on the foredeck that includes a hot-tub, and a sundeck with bar and alfresco dining. There is room for 12 here, and there’s another formal dining space in the main-deck salon. The full-beam owner’s cabin, forward on the main deck, benefits from almost full-height windows. On the lower deck, there are two VIPs and two twin cabins, each with its own ensuite.

Дизайн 38,1-метровой яхты Iron Man разработан Stefano Righini. Vivace 125 позаимствовала основные черты у модели Veloce 140. Also, the design uses a system known as Fast Displacement, which puts into play the advantages of a stable travel system with the front breakwater and the angular lines of the hulls of speed boats. The vessel has three levels and the main terrace with an outdoors command center, a comfortable bar with tables and a splendid panoramic sun terrace with a Jacuzzi. The main level offers on the bow a huge deck overlooking the ocean and a swimming pool conveniently located on the front of the yacht. At the level of the bridge, there is a generous aft deck with a large table for 12 guests and couches and sofas. Below is the main aft deck with a lounge area and side galleries that communicate with the front deck and the stairs that lead to the back gangplank with access to the water. One of the main requests from the yacht’s young owner (whose name remains anonymous) was that the vessel should have generous outdoor spaces to enjoy the sun and ocean fully.

Iron Man is large enough to accommodate ten passengers and seven crew members. In its interior stands out the master stateroom that occupies the full width of the boat and includes a living room, double bathroom, and dressing room. On the bridge level towards the stern is the professional kitchenâ&#x20AC;&#x201D; specially commissioned by the ownerâ&#x20AC;&#x201D; and a magnificent central hall with a striking glass table and a custom divan over 6 feet long and almost 15 feet wide. On the lower level of the yacht, there are VIP cabins and two regular double cabins, all with private bathrooms. One of the particulars of this vessel is its spacious fitness center located on the third level, which comes with the latest equipment and excellent ocean views: a detail that apparently reveals the ownerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s priorities. The interior of the Iron Man was designed by the prestigious decorator Alfred Karram Jr., who used the cool textures of natural materials, wood and marble floors and modern furnishings in gray tones, metallic surfaces, and mirrored planes. Making her debut at this past September’s Cannes Yachting Festival, Iron Man represents Benetti’s (http://www.benettiyachts.it) first step into semi-custom megayachts conceived primarily around fuel consumption. As a Vivace 125 model, Iron Man is meant to burn less fuel than traditional semi-displacement megayachts at typical cruising speeds. She also uses carbon fiber in her superstructure, for a reported 40percent weigh reduction versus typical all-fiberglass construction. The Vivace 125 series is simultaneously focused on letting owners do exactly what attracts them to semi-custom construction in the first place. That is, arrange spaces and decor around the way they like to live. This video takes you all around Iron Man’s decks. You’ll see, too, how the owner, a lover of technology, and designer Alfred Karram, Jr. infused that passion into the decor. They incorporated blacks, greys, silvers, and whites, further using unexpected materials. Witness the molten glass used in the main stairway (above) leading down to the guest accommodations on Iron Man. Even Iron Man’s alfresco areas pick up the theme, through gray and white gelcoat.

The fully equipped gymnasium features the latest technology in health and fitness. Recessed arcs of light delineate the different workout stations, which are mimicked by the special colored vinyl flooring. Benetti brought the Delfino 93 Ocean Drive to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Benetti Americas has been operating for a year and the company used the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to update the industry on its progress. Eight of Benettiâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s 18 sales in 2015 were made to American customers. Hull No. 1 of the Mediterraneo 116 is slated for delivery to an American client next year. The company brought the Veloce 140 from the fast-displacement range and the Delfino 93 Ocean Drive to the Fort Lauderdale show. In South America the market is increasingly vibrant, the company said. In Mexico and Brazil, after years of consolidated interest in luxury yachts, clients are discerning in evaluating capabilities. Florida plays an important role in yachting for South American clients, and the company said the opening of Benetti Americas in Fort Lauderdale last year was strategic. The team offers five resources divided into two services, two post-sales and one marketing. Benetti continued to strengthen its presence in the American market by participating in 2015 boat shows. The company said it will debut two boats in February at Yacht Miami Beach, formerly known as the Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach â&#x20AC;&#x201D; the Vivace 125, the entry-level yacht in the fast displacement Line, and the Chrystal 140.

56-meter Benetti Superyacht "Genesis II" Handed Over Italian yacht builder Benetti has completed and delivered the 56-meter superyacht they built as FB266. Not much was known or heard about this superyacht at the time of her launch but now she has been delivered and christened as "Genesis II". The luxury yacht already had a short time cruising around the Mediterranean region before being shipped to Hong Kong atop a freighter. Looking at the design, this superyacht does bare similar characteristics to another recent Benetti superyacht, "Lady Candy".

Though there are several similarities with Lady Candy (they share similar designs), Genesis II has custom features that the Far-East owner has requested. For one, the main salon onboard Genesis II is a lot larger than on many other Benetti yachts, encompassing some 100 square meters. At first glance, the yacht does not appear to feature a generous offering of deck space., however there are four decks above the waterline so there is sure to a fair amount of outdoor space.

This displacement superyacht does not have the beach club in the transom as is the case on Lady Candy. Some may ask why because this was a stand-out feature onboard LC. An owner usually receives what they wants so her tenders take up residence in this space. As you can clearly see, the deck overhangs are not that long further emphasizing the push for maximizing interior space onboard this yacht. The upper deck and sun deck are pretty much identical to that of Lady Candy, showing the influence of Central Yacht on this build who took up position of Owner representative. In recent years naval architects and yacht builders around the world have been researching ways to boost fuel efficiency, in direct response to requests by clients. The trick, though, has been to coax more nautical miles out of the tanks without sacrificing performance. Fulldisplacement yachts have long held fuel-consumption advantages over semi-displacement ones, but semi-displacement yachts have triumphed where speed was concerned. Could some middle ground be struck? And could it be done while a yacht owner remains fully indulged? Turns out it could, and megayacht clients like the Brazilian brothers who own Cheers 46 (a Veloce 140 model and the first delivery in the Benetti Fast Displacement series) are now reaping the rewards.

Go back to the fall of 2013. Benetti’s CEO, Vincenzo Poerio, reveals at a press conference that customers have been requesting yachts that cruise faster than the usual best cruise figure. In the sizes that Benetti was building, that figure was generally around 11 knots. They needed to bump it up. Somehow. The kicker? Owners also wanted to burn less fuel. Benetti Group research and development department. Add Stefano Righini, who has penned the lines of dozens of Benettis to date, and Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture Studio. Together, they began investigating options. The solution: Combine the benefits of the round-bilge hull form with those of the planing hull form, along with a bulbous bow shaped much like a wave piercer. That was a good start. Benetti wanted top speeds in the 20-plus-knot range, so it brought in RollsRoyce for its touted Azipull system. In brief, the system recaptures (pulls in) the swirl energy that would ordinarily escape into the slipstream, thereby increasing propulsive efficiency. The Azipull has been proven across commercial and military ships since its release in 2002. Benetti and its design team performed computational fluid-dynamics tests to determine what hull and propulsion combination would work best. They also did scale-model tests to see how the hull would behave under realistic conditions. These tests revealed that the combined ideas would produce 30 percent better efficiency than traditionally equipped planing hulls. The 138-foot yacht had her first victory: performance and economy. The genesis of Cheers 46. But there needed to be more to the Veloce 140. And the results are…

Benetti says top speed for Cheers 46 at one-third load is 21 knots. Under 70 percent load, she reportedly achieves 16.5 knots at fuel-stop power, seeing a range of 500 nautical miles. Power comes from twin 3,460 hp MTU 12V 4000 M93L power plants, the largest installed at Benetti’s shipyard in Viareggio, Italy.

destinations efficiently, the yacht’s owners turned to personalizing the entire platform. They brought in João Armentano, a Brazilian architect and designer. He joined Redman Whiteley Dixon, the design team that Benetti tapped to create decor packages for the series. Those packages, named Air, Land and Sea, are meant to evoke certain sensations based on their materials. Cheers 46 bears the Air decor primarily through a light-gray-stained African wood called tay. It’s complemented by richer-stained tabu wood. Adding to the airy feel are the nearly floor-to-ceiling glass to each side of the dining area and a foldout balcony located fully forward on the main deck. If you’re familiar with megayacht trends, you’ll assume the forward area is the master suite. But, surprise number one, it’s a gym. All told, it is not the usual yacht workout area. Extra overhead clearance was needed to accommodate the owners and guests using the equipment, so Benetti had to redo the originally planned height of the room. It’s interesting to note that the gym initially was designed with a sauna and hot tub, but a change of mind led to them being removed. The owners didn’t, however, remove the dedicated massage room to port. Another surprise comes in the form of the above-mentioned balcony. The brothers had seen the foldout terrace aboard the first Benetti Classic Supreme 132 and requested the same design. So, what appears to be two large stacked ports to starboard in the gym is actually the balcony in the raised position. To deploy it, the ports split like a clamshell, with the top one flipping out and overhead, the bottom one extending out to reveal a teaklined terrace (see photo on previous page). Visitors aboard Cheers 46 might be surprised to see the size of the guest accommodations belowdecks. Because the four cabins are accompanied by the master stateroom here, there’s not as much floor space dedicated to them when compared with similar-size yachts with main-deck owner’s suites. And considering that yacht guests typically spend their leisure time on water toys or in alfresco areas, it’s of no significant consequence. The beach club is one of those alfresco areas. Feadship ROCK.IT “ROCK.IT is a true 21st century yacht,” according to Henk de Vries, director of Feadship. IAG 140 Offered for charter and making her North American debut, King Baby had an overriding mantra of “quality, quality, quality” during her build in China, according to project manager Tim Kings. Constructed using traditional handlaid fiberglass in the hull, resin infusion for the superstructure and carbon fiber for the upper structure, King Baby is built to RINA Class and MCA, with LY2 compliance for commercial charter. Designed by Evan K. Marshall, her interior is said to rival European quality with black walnut handcrafted woodwork and stone accents. With engineering by Sergio Cutolo, she reportedly delivers on both fuel economy and velocity, with a maximum speed of 20 knots.

consolidation for Benetti, with eight sales out of a worldwide total of eighteen in the American market. In North America four contracts were concluded for Fast Displacement yachts, confirming the range’s best seller status, while the sale of a 66 meter steel and aluminum hi-tech Custom Line represents a new challenge for the shipyard with another opportunity to highlight the competence and capability of the Benetti team. A further contract was sealed this year in North America: Hull N°1 of the Mediterraneo 116′. With delivery in 2016, the 35.5 meter long BENETTI Mediterraneo 116′ is an important turning point for the yard and clearly shows the recognizable Benetti family feel, while tracing a renewed styling language.

The success of the Fast Displacement range Veloce 140′ establishes the favorable opinion of this model by clients from North, Central and South America. With Italian design, aggressive and captivating, she captures the attention of all, while her D2P hull and the carbon fiber in the superstructures incorporate advanced technology. Sailing at twelve knots in perfect comfort and with increased range (up to 1,250 nautical miles) make her a yacht for owners who love going offshore, like St. Marteen to St. Barth, while her limited draft (only 7’8” at half load) is ideal for Floridian, Bahamian and Caribbean waters. In South America, the market is increasingly receptive and vibrant. In Mexico and Brazil, after years of consolidated interest in the world of luxury yachts, clients are knowledgable and discerning in evaluating capabilities, dependability and post-sales service. Other countries, Colombia, Peru and Chile, though while still inexperienced and needful of nautical culture, are beginning to show an interest in the Benetti brand with their reliable quality products. Florida plays an very important role in yachting for South American clients, and the opening of Benetti Americas in Fort Lauderdale last year was strategic. International Boat Show with the eagerly awaited Veloce 140′ Cheers 46 and with the Benetti Delfino 93′ Ocean Drive; a perfect match between Benetti’s commitments to tradition and innovation. With an overall length of only 24 meters, Ocean Drive defines a new standard of excellence. She is particularly appreciated for her compactness: while offering everything you would expect to find on longer yachts, the Veloce is registered as a pleasure yacht. Exterior layout is great looking, with numerous glass surfaces and exceptional spaciousness for comfortably enjoying life aboard. Below decks the Veloce 140′ offers two VIP and two guest cabins.
