Fisker 50 In our sister publication Issue 168 of The Superyacht Report, we reported on a collaboration between automotive designer Henrik Fisker and Italian shipyard Benetti for the production of a series of 50m motoryachts. The fruits of their labour resulted in a 50m called Fisker 50, which was unveiled at the Singapore Yacht Show. “Benetti wanted me to think outside the box, and having come from the car industry, I think differently [in terms of] design and proportion and sculpture,” revealed Fisker during an interview at the show. “It was a big challenge because on a yacht you get a lot of people moving around — you either have two people living on it or [there can be] 12 guests staying on board or there can be 150 people at a party. That is a huge difference in the dynamics.” Based on an existing 50m platform, the Fisker 50 was developed and fully engineered in 2015 with the interior and exterior design created by Fisker. The exterior styling was inspired by the perfect regressing wave, creating a hip towards the aft of the vessel in a manner similar to a wave. The inclusion of a grill on the bow, with a long carbon fibre accent that leads the eye to the waterline, and a white line that frames the bridge window, are just some of the design features to achieve its sporty look.

THE SPECIFICATION

The superstructure has been shaped in a way that gives it an impression of movement even when at anchor — a feature which has grown in popularity over recent years. The exterior also features carbon fibre shark fins that extend out from the superstructure, reclaimed wood, advanced solar panels and optional hybrid power. The solar panels, integrated in the roof of the sundeck, power ambient deck lighting using solar energy stored during the day.

The interiors features advanced and sustainable materials, state-of-the-art technology for automated controls and optimal power management. Accommodation for 12 guests is provided across six en suites with the master suite located on the main deck, which includes a library/office, his and her walk-in wardrobes and a retractable fold-down terrace. This space also features a fireplace, minibar, large curved TV, starlight ceiling and a staircase that leads to the upper deck. “I always notice when at a boat party that you can only have one group of people going up the stairs and one going down the stairs,” explained the designer who revealed how it was important during the design phase to accommodate for the three various group types — the owners, 12 guests and large parties. “So [on the Fisker 50] the entrance stairs are wider allowing for two sets of people to walk.”

The main deck benefits from retractable floor-toceiling windows and includes the salon, dining area and a bar facing to port. While the upper deck features a cinema with reclining beds, half of which can be converted into a gym by sliding back the middle beds and removing the chairs. The sundeck includes an area for al fresco dining, a bar and a dual use fire pit or enlarged ice bucket in the centre of a circular seating area. Other features on board include a beach club, spa, Jacuzzi, sunbathing areas, Jetskis and a 6.5m tender. “This yacht fits with somebody who wants something different, modern and a little futuristic,” Fisker said.

Aston Martin designer Henrik Fisker releases 50-metre superyacht concept # April 11 The designer of the Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage Henrik Fisker has created a 50-metre superyacht concept the Fisker 50. He has teamed with yacht designer Benetti for the project. The launch of the yacht came on the second day of the Singapore Yacht Show and the project by the Californiabased designer is based on an existing Benetti-developed concept. The price list of the yacht is between $35 million and $40 million depending on client specifications. It will have sleeping quarters to accommodate 12 and entertainment space for 100 party guests. Carbon fibre materials have been used in exterior areas to maximise weight savings. Exterior amenities include a beach club at water level, bar areas in the decks spaces and a large pool on the foredeck. The guest areas have been designed to offer the maximum amount of living space from the 50- metre deck. The yacht can also accommodate 11 crew members. The yacht also has a dual-use fire pit or enlarged ice bucket in the centre of a circular outdoor seating area on the upper deck

Acclaimed designer Henrik Fisker and superyacht builder Benetti have revealed the concept designs for their 50-metre yacht collaboration. Designed in California and set to be built in Livorno, Italy using an existing Benetti platform, Fisker and the renowned Italian shipyard worked on the project throughout 2015 to fully engineer the feasibility of this production optimised superyacht. Billed as a new breed of luxury yacht, the Benetti Fisker 50 features Fisker’s trademark dynamic sporty design that embodies flowing sculptural lines, a unique front view giving the yacht its own recognizable identity, use of black carbon fibre to accentuate graphics and an innovative, visually engaging layout connecting the yacht with the serenity of the ocean. The vessel’s front view is distinctive, with three stainless steel bars, while the captain’s window is accentuated with a dynamic white line. The exterior design shows a dynamic sporty side view with a strong feature line flowing from the front to the rear on all three decks. Its flowing lines are inspired by a perfect regressing wave, creating the visual of a sensual “rear” hip sweeping up like a wave.

Born in Denmark in 1963, Henrik Fisker is best known as the designer of a number of distinguished automobiles down the years, including the V8 Vantage, the Aston Martin DB9 and the BMW Z8, as well as the Fisker Karma electric car.

But none of his past works come anywhere close to the sheer magnitude of his latest project: the Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht. Yes, it’s a yacht, and a super one at that. The Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht is a result of a collaboration between the Danish designer and the Italian shipyard. It measures 164 feet long and is pegged to be built using materials like carbon Rber, reclaimed wood, and other items of the exotic variety. Fisker calls it a “new breed of luxury yacht” (http://www.topspeed.com/boats/luxury-yachts/ke2422.html) and judging by the kind of amenities it has, the man might even be restrained in his choice of words. So, here’s the lowdown on the enormous, three-deck Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht. It has roof-mounted solar panels, reclaimed wood decks, a spacious salon, a top-deck lounge, swimming pool, sunbathing decks, and a “beach club” swim platform. It also has as many as six guest cabins and quarters for as many as 11 crew members. All of that and I still haven’t touched on the master suite, which is a whole new level of opulence on its own. Consider that this massive room comes with owns library, fold-down balcony, Rreplace, starlight ceiling, walk-in closets, and a private staircase that leads to a private home theater. In terms of power, the Benetti Fisker 50 is said to have the chops to travel at speeds of 15.5 knots or cover 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots before needing to refuel. Hybrid power also comes as an option, something we ought to expect Fisker had something to do. If your head hasn’t exploded yet, you’ll be comforted to know that owning a Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht comes with its own perils, especially to one’s bank account. Not that it matters to any of us, but according to Benetti, the cost of having one of these built amounts to about $37 million, or about the price of a baseball team’s worth of Ferrari LaFerraris. Pictures: Car designer Henrik Fisker unveils concept for Benetti Yachts The 50 metre yacht, Benetti Fisker 50 comes from the car designer who brought the world the Aston Martin DB9 and the BMW Z8. The design of the yacht was unveiled by international designer, Henrik Fisker and Italian luxury yacht builder, Benetti at the Singapore Yacht Show. The Benetti Fisker 50 is described as “a new breed of luxury yacht” that “embodies flowing sculptural lines, a unique front view giving the yacht its own recognisable identity, use of black carbon fibre to accentuate graphics and an innovative, visually engaging layout connecting the yacht with the serenity of the ocean.” Three stainless steel bars give a distinct front view of the yacht. The captain’s window is accentuated with a characteristic white dynamic line, one of the recognisable style attributes of the Benetti Fisker 50. See all the pictures below The exterior design is sporty, with a strong feature line flowing from the front to the rear on all three decks. Extended carbon fibre shark fins give the yacht an aerodynamic and smooth appearance. It also allows for lights to illuminate the ocean at night. Onboard amenities include a beach club, spa, several bars, an ocean-facing Jacuzzi, sunbathing areas on multiple decks and water toys such as jetski’s and a 6.5-metre tender. Up to 12 guests can be accommodated in six cabins, looked after by 11 crew members. The main deck has a reception area with a seating and a bar facing the port. It incorporates a large living room with seating for 12, and a bar with chairs facing the ocean. Floor to ceiling glass walls slide open to allow for ocean breeze. At the end of the main deck is the master suite, starting with a library/office, cabin and bathroom. The master bedroom features a retractable “fold down” oceanview terrace and is equipped with a fireplace, a royal bed, minibar, a huge curved TV and starlight ceiling. It ends with his/hers walk-in closets. A large inviting staircase leads to the upper deck.

The upper deck features a cinema with a large screen and comfortable, reclining beds. During the day, half of the area can be converted into a gym by sliding back the middle beds and removing the chairs. The sun deck includes a rear-facing relaxing area, a dining table, a bar and a dualuse fire pit or enlarged ice bucket in the centre of a circular sitting area. Advanced solar panels provide ambient deck lighting, using solar power stored during the day. The interior features advanced and sustainable materials, and stateof-the-art technology for automated controls and optimal power management. The Benetti Fisker 50 has been designed in California and will be built in Livorno using an existing platform by Benetti, at the heart of the Tuscan coastline.

Яхта Fisker 50 concept получила карбоновую отделку, деревянные палубы и солнечные панели. Legendary automotive designer Henrik Fisker seems to also have time for other projects, like luxury yachts, for instance. Fisker, who used to be an automaker as well, has worked with the Italian specialists at Benetti to showcase a 164-foot (50-meter) super yacht called Fisker 50. The presented design is just a concept, but it can be made into a production model for interested clients. Naturally, it will be built in Livorno, Italy, by Benetti. The company did not specify what powers this massive yacht, but they have stated that it can be ordered with a hybrid powertrain. As far as seating and space is concerned, the super yacht has staff quarters for up to 11 crew members, while the rest of the interior can suit a larger number of passengers, depending on the prospective owner’s desires and guest list.

The Fisker 50 has six guest cabins, each with a different look, and a master suite. The latter has an office, a library, an extended bathroom, and a bedroom.

And considering that people who spend time on such sailing boats also like to party, minibars are abundant on the yacht. The estimated value of a cruiser like this one is $37 million, and the Livorno boat specialist wants to build as many as they can sell. Since these yachts are bespoke, there won’t be an issue of a stock of unsold Fisker 50s.

This is the first boat ever designed by Fisker, and we can say it looks impressive. The designer has stated that it is built “perfectly for entertaining,” and that it is “top-of-the-line in every respect for the most discerning buyer.” Surely, this boat is more expensive that the usual products created by Henrik Fisker, like the Fisker Karma, the BMW Z8, or the Aston Martin DB9. The yacht is called the Fisker 50, and it’s o!icially a concept though Benetti says the order books are open and the yacht is ready to be built. It represents the first yacht design for Fisker, who in addition to cars has also penned motorcycles, furniture and watches. The yacht has an overall length of 164 feet, which works out to be 50 meters, hence the name Fisker 50. It also has three decks with the upper deck flexible enough to be turned into a movie theater, gym or entertainment area. Additional onboard amenities include a beach club, spa, several bars, sunbathing areas on multiple decks plus a place to park some jetskis. There are six cabins and enough room to house 13 guests and 11 crew. In keeping with Fisker’s interest in green technology, the yacht features solar panels and an energy storage system. We’re told a hybrid powertrain will also be available. Benetti says the top speed of the Fisker 50 is 15.5 knots (approximately 18 mph) and the range is about 4,000 nautical miles. The price tag will depend on the final specification but the ballpark figure is close to $50 million.

See the $37 Million Benetti Superyacht Designed by Henrik Fisker The acclaimed automotive designer has unveiled concept renderings and stats for his first yacht—and it's a big one. Friday morning in Singapore, automotive design superstar Henrik Fisker revealed a fuller view of the superyacht he’s building with Benetti that was teased back in December. The collaboration was greeted with anticipation from both supercar lovers and seafarers alike. The Benetti “Fisker 50” is a 164-foot watercraft designed in California and scheduled for production in coastal Livorno, Italy. Its estimated value when finished will be $37 million. Benetti has said it will make as many as it can sell. The yacht will be made at the Benetti factory in Italy.

“Benetti signaled they wanted an out-of-the-box design and with the Benetti Fisker 50, we’ve combined efforts to create just that,” Fisker said in an e-mail during his flight to Asia. “The yacht is built perfectly for entertaining and is top-of-the-line in every respect for the most discerning buyer.” This will be the first boat ever created by Fisker, who earned international stardom in the design community for creating the Aston Martin DB9 and Vantage and BMW Z8. His most recent project before the Fisker 50 was a Force 1 supercar he plans to make in Detroit. He also created the nowdiscontinued Fisker Karma electric car. The yacht has three main decks and carbon fiber accents throughout.

The boat is built on principles of sustainability—as much as a superyacht can be sustainable—with reclaimed wood, solar panels, and optional hybrid power all incorporated into its design. They don’t look quite as “out of the box” as you might expect, but the three decks along the sides of the boat do well to evoke ocean waves, and the unique carbon fiber “shark fins” out of sight toward the stern help the boat move better through the water, Benetti said. Those fins also incorporate strong ocean lights that illuminate the water at night. Fisker added distinctive design features such as black carbon fiber throughout the boat as well, with a distinct white line running across the captain’s window and some walls that look to be entirely made of glass. There are three stainless steel bars below the bow that also evoke the grille of a car.

This is Henrik Fisker's first foray into designing a vehicle for the water.

According to the Knight Frank Wealth Report, superyacht sales were up 40 percent from 2014 to 2015. (The firm defines “superyachts” as watercraft longer than 78 feet.) By the end of this year, 48 yachts longer than 100 meters (328 feet) will exist; last year there were only 16, according toBoat International.

The way those yachts are being used is changing, too. Nowadays, instead of being used for leisurely travel to well-trod beaches along the Caribbean and Mediterranean, superyachts are heading to what the report called “more adventurous locations,” such as Asia and the Antarctic. This is who Fisker and Benetti are after: buyers who want to make a statement to the business world with a craft that can shift easily between hosting parties and conducting business meetings. Beaucoup bucks from charters may be an additional bonus; fellow superyachts can demand upward of $700,000 a week, which is on a par with, if not more than, chartering entire cruise ships.

Inside the New Yacht Benetti officials declined to give specific details on interior finishings, but through a spokesman mentioned an interior “beach club” lounge, a spa, several bars, and, of course, a Jacuzzi. Renderings seem to indicate wood flooring throughout, fabric covered walls, and marble. There is sleeping room for 12 guests in six bedrooms plus space for 11 crewmembers. The master suite has a library and separate bathroom with ocean views, a minibar, walk-in closets, a massive curved TV, a ceiling designed to look like the night sky, and a modernist hanging fireplace—yes, a fireplace. Each owner will be able to choose which kind of walls, showers, floors, ceilings, and doors will complete the interior of the vessel.

The sun deck includes a aft-facing relaxing area, a dining table, a bar, and a dual-use fire pit or enlarged ice bucket in the center of a circular sitting area that seats 12. (The fireplaces and fire pit

According to Benetti, the Fisker 50 will be able to hit speeds of 15.5 knots and travel 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots before refueling. While it's not going to best the $90-million, 253-foot Silver Fast, which has a cruising speed of 22 knots—or come near to theWorld Is Not Enough, which hits up to 70 knots—it's comparable to other transatlantic yachts such as the 11.11, a $73 million superyacht also built by Benetti. The Fisker 50's two massive Caterpillar C32 engines feed from a 16,378-gallon fuel capacity. Construction on the boat, which is still in concept stage, will start later this year, though Benetti declined to say exactly when. The final sale date remains undetermined.

So, here’s the lowdown on the enormous, three-deck Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht. It has roof-mounted solar panels, reclaimed wood decks, a spacious salon, a top-deck lounge, swimming pool, sunbathing decks, and a “beach club” swim platform. It also has as many as six guest cabins and quarters for as many as 11 crew members. All of that and I still haven’t touched on the master suite, which is a whole new level of opulence on its own. Consider that this massive room comes with owns library, fold-down balcony, fireplace, starlight ceiling, walk-in closets, and a private staircase that leads to a private home theater.

Yes, it’s a yacht, and a super one at that. The Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht is a result of a collaboration between the Danish designer and the Italian shipyard. It measures 164 feet long and is pegged to be built using materials like carbon fiber, reclaimed wood, and other items of the exotic variety. Fisker calls it a “new breed of luxury yacht” and judging by the kind of amenities it has, the man might even be restrained in his choice of words.

Henrik Fisker made his reputation in the design community by being the eye behind the aesthetics of such cars like the Aston Martin DB9, BMW Z8, and the now-discontinued Fisker Karma electric car. The man’s design chops are certainly worth appreciating and in the years since, Fisker has added to his design portfolio with works like the VLF Destino, Force 1, and the Ford Mustang Rocket. He’s even branched out and designed motorcycles. But none of his past works come anywhere close to the sheer magnitude of his latest project: the Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht.

In terms of power, the Benetti Fisker 50 is said to have the chops to travel at speeds of 15.5 knots or cover 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots before needing to refuel. Hybrid power also comes as an option, something we ought to expect Fisker had something to do.

If your head hasn’t exploded yet, you’ll be comforted to know that owning a Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht comes with its own perils, especially to one’s bank account. Not that it matters to any of us, but according to Benetti, the cost of having one of these built amounts to about $37 million, or about the price of a baseball team’s worth of Ferrari LaFerraris.

Fisker Automotive, the buzzy electric car company that the designer and entrepreneur founded in 2007, was out of money. To outsiders, it was a shocking concession for a company that had raised a staggering $1.2 billion from public and private funds. But the Anaheim, Calif. company hadn’t produced a car for more than a year after building about 2,500 of its Karma, a luxury plug-in hybrid sports sedan priced at $103,000. And it faced a congressional hearing about the $529 million in financing it received from the U.S. Department of Energy. Fisker resigned as executive chairman in March with the fate of the company still unsettled. The following year Wanxiang Group, China’s largest automotive parts company, snapped up Fisker’s assets for $149.2 million in a bankruptcy auction. The proceedings were enough to put a high-profile founder in hiding for awhile, but the company’s namesake didn’t exactly disappear. Fisker was commissioned by Anders Kirk Johansen, heir to the Lego brand, to design a Lauge Jensen Motorcycles Viking concept that was unveiled in early 2014. Fisker later partnered with Galpin Auto Sports, a major Ford dealer near Los Angeles, to create a 725-horsepower Mustang dubbed the Rocket. Still, these were hardly the heady days of 2009 when Fisker was steering a promising electric car startup that promised to upend an century-old industry. Fisker stepped fully into the spotlight in January. At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, he introduced a company called VLF Automotive—created with manufacturer Gilbert Villarreal and former General Motors executive Bob Lutz, the “V” and “L” of the company’s name— and a $280,000, 745-horsepower supercar dubbed the 2016 Force 1. Fisker says he’s just getting started. The man behind the BMW Z8, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and Aston Martin D89 is also designing a line of super yachts through a partnership with Benetti, the Italian shipbuilding firm. By the end of this year, Fisker could have his own competition-style TV show. And there are other high-profile joint ventures in the works, he hints. In a winding interview, edited and condensed for clarity, Fortune asked Fisker about those super yachts—as well as the future of cars, the rise of electric carmaking rival Tesla Motors, and the prospective new entrant Faraday Future. Why create another car company? For me, this was kind of different. VL Automotive had already spent a couple of years certifying and testing what essentially is a Fisker Karma with a Corvette V8 engine in it. They were just about ready to finally bring it to market. I called up Bob Lutz because I was working together with [professional racer and owner of Viper Exchange Racing] Ben Keating out of Texas on Force 1, this American supercar, and I needed someone to build it. When I called up Bob, I said, “I know you guys are building these cars. You have these facilities. Are you able to build this car?” We had lunch in Michigan. Bob said, “Why don’t you join in? We’ll make it ‘VLF.’ You can get back to the car you already designed, you can help evolve it, and we have a lot of other fun projects.” I looked beneath the surface and realized that it was not a typical startup where you have to go out and raise a ton of money and sell thousands of cars [to pay back investors]. It’s more about three guys having some fun, doing what we really love to do, which is to make amazing cars. We have such a low cost center that we don’t need to make many cars to make a profit. With just 100 cars, or even less, we can make this company profitable because there’s no debt, we’ve already got the place where we’re going to manufacture, we’ve got the machines, and everything else. It was a unique opportunity to do something—I hate to say “on the side,” but it’s not one of my main projects, and it’s not something where I need to go into work every day. And I think we kind of felt there was a little bit of an empty spot in the market for a small, niche manufacturer. There used to be more companies like this. But in this hard-reality world, where people are spending hundreds of millions to develop cars, it is very tough to bring out niche cars. We’ve found a way to do that. And if we were really successful, and somebody wanted to buy 1,000 Force 1 cars? Quite frankly we couldn’t do it. We would not be able to. We’re a limited company that will never get into producing 10,000 cars or anything near that. That’s not the objective.

You mentioned that this is not your main project. What are you spending most of your time on? Actually, I’m spending quite a lot of time on the Benetti yacht I’m working on. It’s a 164-foot yacht. I just finalized the design; I’m going through a feasibility study right now. It’s a $34 million, $35 million yacht depending on what you put in it. So that’s quite a big project. It takes several years to build one. I’ve got some other smaller projects in different areas that I’m working on, too. I’m kind of impatient. I like to see things realized and not just work on a project for three years and wait, wait, wait. I try to keep myself busy. What led you to design super yachts? My wife was running a big family office in London and the gentleman she worked for had a giant yacht. She spent a lot of time on it; I was there a couple of times. It kind of inspired me to see how

people actually use a yacht. It’s a different world. So I started to think, how would I design a yacht? I thought it an interesting idea. I happened to be at some meetings and different events where I met someone from Benetti. We were talking about how a lot of industry leaders use these yachts as a tool to conduct business. I was throwing out a couple of my ideas when he said, “Why don’t we do something together?” It led me to start talking to Benetti. They said, “We could really some fresh thinking—someone who can think outside of the box for the yacht industry.” They thought it would be really interesting to have someone like me, with my background in luxury cars, to come in. We discussed it and decided to do it. A lot of your projects seem to start with a casual conversation. They do. I think it’s kind of a natural thing that evolves [into a formal project]. I don’t take on projects that are a hassle, or when someone comes in and says, “We really need this design,” and I’m like, “OK, fine, I’ll do it.” It really has to be something that I personally feel intrigued and excited about—any product, as long as I’m excited by it. It doesn’t have to be a car. How will VLF Automotive be different from Fisker Automotive? How is your mindset and approach different this time? There’s a big difference between VLF Automotive and Fisker Automotive. Fisker was about going out and attacking a completely new industry where everything is new, and developing something that nobody has ever done before, and going up against conglomerates that have not just billions but tens of billions of dollars. There is a giant risk with that. There is a very fine line between success and failure. When you’re out there as the very first one, you don’t always get the credit for being the first because it’s about whether you survive or not. It doesn’t really matter whether you open up the doors for somebody else. I think we did that with Fisker. I think that we really put the plug-in hybrid on the market and showed that environmentally friendly cars can be luxurious and desired by people. With VLF, I don’t want to exaggerate, but I feel like I could do it with one hand tied behind my back. I don’t want to sound arrogant but at the end of the day, for everything we’re doing there, we all have a lot of knowledge and experience. You have Bob Lutz in there—I don’t even dare say it, but he has more than 50 years’ experience in the car industry. I’ve got at least 30 years. them. So we all have tons of experience. We’re not really reinventing the wheel. Of course, we are designing new things and doing exciting stuff. By no means is it easy because then everybody would be doing it. But I think that, because we all have this experience, we feel confident.

Would you develop an all-electric car? Or will you stick with gas-powered supercars like the Force 1? I don’t feel like I have to stick to anything. I can do what I want. VLF is just one project I’m working on. I would never say never, but at this point in time, I don’t think we’re looking at electric cars. But then again, the luxury market changes. I think there are a lot of opportunities, a lot of different things going on. Nothing that I can talk openly about. But I don’t think there’s any reason for me to stick to any type of car. I’ve never done a normal, mass market, affordable car, for instance. That would be one thing that would be fun to do one day. You talk about the fine line between success and failure. Do you feel like Fisker Automotive really helped Tesla Motors succeed where it might not have because your company was first? I don’t think I would define Fisker Automotive as a standard failure because, first of all, we got several thousand cars on the road. Secondly, the car company was sold for $150 million and today the assets and the cars are owned by a company that wants to bring it back to the market. It is not the same as the other startups that came, disappeared, we never heard about them again, and no one is trying to revive them. I do believe that, generally, industry people—whether they were at Tesla or another car company— were pretty amazed that a new car with a new name could debut and within a few months have a couple thousand cars on the road. Despite all of the yelling and screaming around that time, people forgot that, for two or three months, we actually beat Maserati in sales, which is pretty amazing for a brand-new company. has not really been the case over the past 50 years. Nobody would have dared start a car company. Anybody who would attempt it would not get to the point of getting cars into production. We really paved the way for other car companies to take that risk. It’s also easy to forget that there are large car companies that have been around for 100 years that have gone through financial restructuring, gone bankrupt, and been relaunched. That’s something that, unfortunately, happens. One reason is because the industry is so critical-capital intensive. I don’t think there’s an industry in the world that demands not tens of millions, but hundreds of millions, and sometimes billions, of dollars. It is scrutinized in a way that no other industry is and demands constant, immense cash flow. Let’s say a car startup like Faraday Future comes up to you and says, “What did you learn? What are the main takeaways and lessons that you can share?” I don’t know that I want to divulge that because I’ll be using that later in life. (laughs) It’s an amazing experience. When you go through it, you realize there are probably less than a handful of people in the entire world who have the possibility of going through it like you did. One of the most difficult things is, how do you find a successor that actually has that experience that you’ve just gone through? That’s something I experienced as we tried to get some CEOs [for Fisker Automotive]. I could look from here to the moon and there wasn’t anyone I could find who had remotely that same experience. Elon Musk probably can send his rocket to the moon and won’t find anybody there that has that experience. That’s probably one of the biggest challenges startup companies have because they’re managed in a completely different way than traditional companies. They’ve gone through challenges and demand the type of decisions that you will never see in a normal company. Nobody will understand the type of risk you have to take, the stress you’ve gone under, the demand for unusual and incredible quick decisions. Who are going to be the [future] leaders of some of these startups?

Is that a risk for Tesla? I think it’s hard to say at this point. Elon is running it. I don’t think there’s a risk right now. But for any company, you have to think of a succession plan. Rather than say it’s a risk, I’d say it’s a challenge—a big task to think about how you fulfill some of these deep decisions in companies like Tesla, because there are so few people with that type of experience. And it’s not just the CEO. It’s a couple of the other top-line executives, too. In a startup car company, everything you do has to be done in a different way than a traditional car company. And the main reason is that all of these big car companies are operating like giant welloiled machines—you could put a very seasoned executive in and all he has to do is make sure the machine keeps running. Maintaining a giant machine is completely different than leading a startup company. What do you think of Tesla’s prospects right now? Are you bullish or bearish on the company? and so far, whatever people think about Tesla and its business model, there is one fact that nobody can dispute: It pretty much has the market to itself. For whatever reason, there has been no traditional car company nor a new car company that has been able or willing to go in and challenge Tesla in its own market segment. Right now, if you’re looking for a luxury, sporty, four-door sedan, there is only the Model S to choose from. If you look at that, it has a strong stand in the market. So far, I haven’t seen any real cars that have been proposed to challenge Tesla. The big car companies keep on introducing show car. But a show car is a show car—it’s not for sale. I don’t know the internal business models and how Tesla is going to make money and all that, so this question is hard for me to answer. But from my perspective it’s sitting quite well in the market. What do you think of Faraday Future? This is a little bit like if you asked me what I think is inside the magician’s hat, you know. I don’t know because I haven’t seen [its FFZERO1 concept car]. There are a lot of tricks coming out of it. I don’t think that anybody really knows. I think people were expecting to see more of a production car or something [when the company unveiled the model at CES, the annual consumer electronics trade show, in Las Vegas in January.] The car industry has moved itself away from doing traditional show cars that have nothing to do with what the public will buy a few years later. Faraday Future seems like it moved back to showing a show car that has nothing to do with what it is thinking about doing later. So it’s very hard to judge or have any real opinion about what Faraday Future is going to do. One thing I can tell you—as a designer and somebody from the car industry—is that if you have some knowledge of the car industry, and you have a few million dollars at your disposal, and you have a fairly good designer and a small engineering team, then anybody can make a show car. But to actually bring a show car into production—go through all the rules, all the certifications, all the testing, all the reliability tests—that is something completely different. You can’t even compare that. Then, not to mention, building a brand, setting up the dealer network…all of that stuff is so far removed from just showing a show car. That’s why it’s very hard to judge any of these new startup companies.

What trends do you see in the auto industry that are exciting or surprising to you? What about design? Something that’s going to be extremely important in the car industry is—both from the point of view of the consumer and the designer—understanding where we are going with what we call the “connected car.” A big challenge is figuring out, first of all, what is it that the consumer and the driver want? And how do you bring this information to the consumer and the driver? And what impact does that have on the interior design? That’s going to be a big task in the next couple of years. Automakers have just thrown in everything and anything that’s available. Most cars, especially in the luxury segment, probably have more than 500 different options and menus and things you can do, and people probably don’t even use 10% or 20% of it. It will be very important to figure out how we reconnect with the next generation of consumers to get them to fall in love with cars again. I somehow feel the car is still a very emotional and very exciting element of our life that we could spark that love for cars. We just have to find a way to integrate that into our society in a way where we feel it doesn’t have a negative impact like with pollution or whatever it might be. So, what will that spark be? A new design? Rethinking car ownership for a new generation? I’m sure there’s some market for shared car ownership, but just as I don’t want to share my suit or shoes with somebody, I don’t want to share my car with somebody. I think owning a car is part of our character—it’s who we are, the kind of car we buy. What color we buy it and where we put our sunglasses, whether we leave our coffee cup in it for the next morning. I don’t know if I want to share that with anybody else except maybe my wife and family. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a market for it. But I don’t believe car ownership is going to be completely replaced with only cars that are shared. and drives a red car and works from home and nobody meets each other, that type of stuff. Yeah, it would be a lot cheaper if everybody just wore one pair of shoes and only had one car and one microwave meal. But that will make society pretty boring.

I think individualism will still be there. It’s up to us in the car industry and in design. Rather than reject it and say “OK, let’s find a cheap way to make one car for everybody,” I would rather try to figure out how to make people fall in love again with cars and how we get that excitement back. I think the excitement is still there. It just needs to be energized. Have you found a car that strikes the right balance between using technology and making it natural or intuitive? To be honest, no. I think the car industry is still in this entrance stage of figuring out where all this is going. One of the reasons is that it takes several years to develop a car. And I think that in the last few years we’ve gone through a change where every person wants in a car all of the information and technology that they want in a smartphone. We also now, as a society, have more information than ever, more opportunities in our lives, and we become more, and more busy. Every second counts. It’s almost like we feel that if we sit for 30 seconds and have nothing to do it feels strange. We have to check our phone or have to listen to something, have to see something, have to do something. With the car, we have to think how do we integrate that new lifestyle into the environment of the car and how much do we bring in, and what is it that we love about the car? One of the things I love about the car is that when I’m driving, I am driving. It takes my mind off other things. I’m not sitting checking my emails when I’m driving. The point is I think we need to find out what is it that people love about their cars and how do we integrate that with our lifestyle, which has evolved over the last couple of years.

Do we need to change the car interior radically because of that change we’ve seen? And I would say yes. One of things in the car industry and one of the arguments why the car hasn’t changed significantly is because of safety and regulations. But I also think part of it is—I talked about that well-oiled machine—the car industry is very a welloiled machine and also a very expensive machine. To start rethinking a car completely will have a giant impact on the car industry, cost-wise. It’s not like car companies suddenly change all their models; they do it in stages. If they were to change one car dramatically, it would make all the other cars look old. That’s one of the challenges the current industry has. Of course, with new car companies coming up, that is where the excitement comes in. A new car company can afford to do something that is completely new because they don’t have any old stuff. I would expect in maybe two to four years some radical changes to the car, specifically in the interior, where things could be moved drastically around because of the technology we have available. We are in a very exciting time. I don’t think anybody has cracked the big deal yet. I don’t think anybody has come up with something where everybody goes, “Wow.” That’s still something to be discovered, and why it’s an exciting time to be a part of the car industry.

You’ve said that you’re interested in joint ventures. Do you have something in the works? Do you want to? It could be. One of things that is happening is the importance of high-tech companies in the automotive industry. When you look at Samsung and Apple and Panasonic, those are three companies that, if you were to mention their name just five years ago, you wouldn’t really associate them at all with the car industry, other than the fact that they might have supplied a few things. But today we’re talking about the how these tech companies could have a huge impact on the car industry because they’re developing and delivering a lot of the technology that will go into cars. In the future, we’re going to potentially see some companies outside the car industry helping define what future car interiors look like. So yeah—that’s something I could imagine being a part of. I can’t say much about that, except what I said already about the connected car and already being in that space, and trying to understand what that’s going to be in the future. That’s going to be something I’ll be spending some time on. I’m a car design fanatic. I’ve always felt that it would be interesting for people to better understand how cars are designed. It is probably the most complicated product in the world. So I’ve decided to do a television show about that. I’ll be doing something on Esquire TV about car design. We’re putting a show together that hopefully we’ll start shooting here in a couple of months. So that should be exciting. Has it been branded or named yet? We haven’t named it yet. It’s still kind of under wraps. You’re probably one of the first people I’ve told this to. We’re actually still deciding on the name. But we will make it a bit of a competition and make it fun and I think we want to make it more broadly appealing to invite people into the world of car design. What’s the vision of the show? Well I don’t want to give too much away. But I would be the host of it and probably a judge, and we’ll try to get some designers to compete. One of the things I want to try and do that hasn’t been done before is to build a full size vehicle. Probably not a production car, obviously, but a show car or something. So we’re looking into that type of stuff to take it a bit further and make an exciting competition out of it—so people understand about the challenges and the excitement of being in the car industry. We have a pretty good foundation for the show, so wait and you’ll see. It’s very exciting. The vessel measures 164 feet in length and incorporates three decks in total, which means that it is definitely spacious enough to ensure luxurious accommodations for its owner and his or her esteemed guests. There is a generous selection of high-end amenities on the superyacht, such as several bars, a beach club, a spa, an ocean-facing Jacuzzi and sunbathing areas.

FISKER 50 includes six lavish cabins that offer enough space for 12 guests, while a crew of eleven members are housed in their own comfortable crew quarters. The master suite is located aft on the main deck, and it includes an en-suite bathroom, an office and a library area. The bedroom area boasts a retractable “flowdown” terrace as well as a fireplace, a minibar, a royal bed, a curved TV and a starlight ceiling.

Benetti have unveiled their new concept superyacht, the 50 metre Fisker 50. The Italian shipyard and designer Fisker have collaborated on this concept for the last twelve months with the design taking place in California while the construction will be in Livorno. The superyacht will be built using an existing Benetti platform. The luxury yacht will have three decks offering different living and lifestyle spaces on each level. Amongst the amenities are the beach club, spa, several bars, an ocean-facing Jacuzzi, sunbathing areas all decks and water toys such as jetskis and a 6.5 meter tender. The motor yacht also features as a convertible upper deck that includes a movie theater and a gym area. The stern has a fold down swim platform forming a beach club with fold out platforms both port and starboard.

Henrik Fisker's next supercar is a boat By: Charles Fleming

Acclaimed automotive designer Henrik Fisker, known for creating Aston Martin's DB9 and V8 Vantage, and the forward-looking premium plug-in Fisker Karma, has a new project in the works. But this time it's not a car. It's a yacht. Fisker has teamed with top-drawer Italian boat maker Benetti to create the Fisker 50. The super yacht concept, revealed here for the first time, will be a custom-made 50-meter (164-foot) luxury ship for private use. It will retail, when completed for about $35 million-$40 million, depending on what options and accessories it includes. The yacht will have sleeping quarters to accommodate 12 and enough entertainment space to allow for 100 party guests. The ocean-going craft is a first for Fisker, though he remembers sketching boats as a lad and later as a student at the Art Center College of Design. Fisker said the design job was in some ways simpler than creating a car. Among other things, there are not as many safety and emissions regulations to work around.


On the other hand, he said, "On a car design, you can look at a full-size clay model, and put a tape on it and correct your lines. You can't do that on a 164-foot boat!" Unique to this project, Fisker says, was a platform-sharing idea he imported from the auto world. Traditionally, ships of this size are one-offs, custom built to order and very time consuming. The Fisker 50, he said, could be built in multiple iterations simultaneously, and, because the platform is reproduceable, could be affordably built using very high-quality materials. But fear not, Fisker fans. The designer has not abandoned road-going vessels, nor lost his enthusiasm for them. He's excited about the Galpin Fisker Ford Mustang Rocket, a Mustang-based bullet he built in conjunction with Los Angeles' Galpin Auto Sports, a 725-horsepower, coach-built, carbon-fiber supercar that, in limited production, will cost about $109,000. He's also excited about the VLF Force 1, a V-10, carbon-bodied, two-seat roadster built in collaboration with former GM head Bob Lutz and former Boeing executive Gilbert Villarreal. That car, when ready, will retail for $300,000. Fisker is no longer involved with the Karma, a pre-Tesla luxury electric car that is now being reborn under new ownership. But he's busy. There's the executive leadership course Fisker will soon undertake at UCLA. And there's a reality TV show that Fisker won't say much about, except that he has a network partner and a budget, for a show about car building in which designers will compete, "American Idol"-style. "There have been a lot of shows about cars, about how you hammer old cars together," Fisker said. "This one will be about how you design one."

With the help of Fisker’s dynamic sporty design, the Benetti Fisker 50 will get a unique front view and will stand out thanks to the use of black carbon fiber and three stainless steel bars. The carbon fiber will draw attention to graphics and an innovative, visually engaging layout connecting the yacht with the serenity of the ocean.

The exterior design is accentuated by a strong feature line flowing from the front to the rear on all three decks. Inspired by regressing wave, the flowing lines create the visual of a sensual “rear” hip sweeping up like a wave. The yacht features extended carbon fiber shark fins that make her appearance more aerodynamic and smooth.

The yacht exterior has a dramatic body using light weight carbon fiber accents, reclaimed wood, integrated solar panels and optional hybrid power. The collaboration between noted automotive designer Henrik Fisker (http://www.henrikfisher.org) and Benetti (http://www.benettiyachts.it) has been teased for weeks. It’s now fully unveiled. The Benetti Fisker 50 (50 meters, or 164 feet) shows off new styling for the yacht builder, plus some creative concepts to enhance onboard living. (Try a fire pit that converts to an ice bucket.) And, she can start construction upon signing of a contract. While the partnership work started about a year ago, the Benetti Fisker 50 is based on a proven hull form. Benetti is offering hybrid power as an option. The anticipated performance with that, and with traditional diesels, hasn’t been revealed. Regardless, given similar-size Benetti deliveries in recent years, we expect top speed to be between 15 and 16 knots under conventional power. And, we expect best range at 12 knots, between 4,000 and 5,000 nautical miles. Outside of customary accommodations for 12 in equally customary locations—the main deck for the master, for example—some nice surprises come with the Benetti Fisker 50. Start with the styling. They’re not just aesthetic; they house lighting to cast a glow on the anchorage at night. The flowing horizontal lines along each deck are meant to mimic waves. Now that he’s no longer trying to start his own automaker, Henrik Fisker is back doing what he does best: designing things. Recently, he’s been designing coachbuilt cars for the likes of Galpin and VLF. Now it’s been revealed Fisker has designed a luxury yacht for Italy’s Benetti. It represents the first yacht design for Fisker, who in addition to cars has also penned motorcycles, furniture and watches.

The yacht has an overall length of 164 feet, which works out to be 50 meters, hence the name Fisker 50. It also has three decks with the upper deck flexible enough to be turned into a movie theater, gym or entertainment area. Benetti and Henrick Fisker have worked on partnership throughout 2015 to fully engineer the feasibility of this production optimized superyacht. The collaboration is focused on a new 50 meter – (164 feet) superyacht with naval architecture by Benetti. The yacht has been designed in California and able to be built in Livorno using an existing platform by Benetti, at the heart of the Tuscan coastline. This new design concept aims toenhance and optimize the onboard experience by utilizing more space on the vast superyacht for both entertaining and leisure. The design adds a new “human Pow” element to reduce unused space and increase its functionality.

The exterior uses light weight carbon Aber and other exotic materials and reclaimed wood, integrated solar panels and optional hybrid power, with the optimization of ocean views from all major cabins. RobbReport.com recently spoke with Fisker about his nascent nautical sensibilities, the dichotomies and commonalities in car and yacht conception, and how this project could present a new design language for the latter. You are known for your automotive artistry, but what is your background with yacht design? To be honest, I have not had too much experience with yacht design except for one I came up with as a school project 20 years ago. But I think that is probably one of the reasons why Benetti wanted to do a joint venture with me: They were looking for somebody who was thinking out of the box and would change some of the formalities and conventions currently in place within the industry. If they were just looking for another yacht designer, they wouldn’t need me. How did your collaboration with Benetti come about? I had met James Clayton, the sales manager for Benetti, at several events, and he had sold yachts to many of my friends. We were hanging out one evening discussing how yachts are used and the future of the market, and I mentioned that it would be fun to design one. He took me up on it and we met with the CEO of Benetti who expressed that the company was looking to create the next big change. But, as with the car industry, many amazing concepts never actually materialize, so we wanted to come up with one that was feasible and would actually be built. The challenge was to do more than just throw another concept out there, but to imagine an innovative and unique design that would go from rendering to reality.

Benetti is known to work mostly with designers from Italy. Did you adopt some of the Italian aesthetic for this project? Benetti is a 100-percent Italian company that is known for its elegant, sporty, and sleek presentations. As a designer, you have to embrace the brand and understand what it is about without getting stuck in its current framework. I definitely needed to incorporate Italian flair, and Benetti has existing design elements that I wanted to bring to the next level. For example, one common thread in Benetti’s yachts is the very long, thin black line that runs all the way around the hull, so I made it more pronounced and integrated it with the window area. I also incorporated a bit of the Fisker style, specifically seen aft where the yacht has a haunch like that of a sports car. The feature resembles a wave and contains considerable sculpture, which is one of my signatures. I added that to really differentiate the Benetti Fisker 50 from any other yacht in its size class, as most over 150 feet in length start becoming square and resemble floating apartment complexes. I wanted to give the yacht a sleek and beautiful appearance, despite the fact that it is 164 feet long and has three decks. How do your pillar principles of design apply to the Benetti Fisker 50 concept? Yachts typically do not have the same amount of sculpture that cars contain, so I wanted to add a lot of sculptural development and play with the way light hits various shapes and surfaces. I created a prominent line that flows from the front through the sides of the hull and decks then sweeps up to the rear hip. I gave it a ripple effect, which is quite unusual. The yacht also has a very strong graphic element enhanced by the black windows running through the entire superstructure and the black, polished carbon-fiber panels used for support. At the stern of the top deck I have emphasized the panoramic view by incorporating glass railings to eliminate obstruction when lounging and give it the feel of an open deck. Had I wanted to achieve that effect with normal approaches, I would have had to cut out the windows and that would have looked ugly, in my opinion. The whole yacht flows with the theme of uninterrupted ocean views as much as possible.

Did you design the interiors as well? Yes, I did. My idea for the interior was to give the feel of a lavish penthouse apartment in, say, New York, London, or Paris. Many owners of a yacht this size live on board, entertain, and offer it as a charter, so I designed the innovative layout with those three elements in mind. The interiors had to have that homey feel for a couple, accommodate up to 12 guests, and easily handle parties with a hundred people in attendance. The latter is one of the most difficult challenges, as you have to optimize group flow on the stairs and between cocktail bars and other onboard venues. I did not want it to feel condensed and tight. I also felt it was important to introduce one-of-a-kind features that would add to the air of luxury, such as the floating fireplace in the master bedroom, as well as the fold-out terrace where you can soak up the ambience of St. Tropez, the Bahamas, or wherever you are in the world. I have designed the interior spaces to be places an owner would want to live in and not just sleep in.

What did you find most challenging about the transition from automotive design to yachts? In car design you can always go to a full-size clay model and correct the lines. Obviously, with a 164-foot yacht everything has to happen virtually, which was a big change for me. You also have to start with a hull that is absolutely correct, as far as the right proportions and sailing ability. Fortunately, Benetti had already created a perfect hull, so I just worked up from there. Another big difference is that once inside a car there is no real passenger movement whereas with a yacht you have to consider the dynamics of interior motion and make it comfortable for everyone—from two people out for a quiet week away to 150 guests having a wild party, and that is a huge span of usability.

What element of the Benetti Fisker 50 stands out as especially significant to your signature style? I believe that if you can create very simple yet beautiful designs, there is a good chance they will become timeless. And it dawned on me that there is probably no other possession in the world that you would want that to hold true for more than a yacht, due to the gigantic investment. There are many different design languages happening in the yacht world, and I wanted to clean that up and make a pure, simple statement. The clean line that runs from the front and kicks over the rear hip is what I hope becomes instantly recognizable with the Benetti Fisker 50. Another element that comes from my background in the car industry is what I liken to a grille. Unlike automobiles, most yachts coming into a harbor are not distinguishable by brand, especially from the front. I created three stainless-steel bars complemented by carbon fiber as grillwork that runs from the top of the bow to the waterline. It will be a very recognizable design cue. Lastly, like a supercar, yachts elicit an emotional connection when seen, and I wanted to deliver that “wow” effect by developing dramatic tension in its lines, something unexpected in a yacht of this size. I want the little kid who sees the Benetti Fisker 50 for the first time to say, “I want one of those.”

What do you see as far as your future involvement with Benetti and yacht design in general? As far as my continued involvement with Benetti, it has not been decided how many of the Benetti Fisker 50 yachts will be produced, but I will be included throughout the process. We designed the yacht with the car industry’s platform-sharing strategy in mind so several could be quickly constructed. A significant advantage is that we can build each one in as fast as 18 months, instead of the two or three years it normally takes. Having a shared platform that consists of the hull and other structural elements is not only efficient but allows more money to be spent on exotic materials and interior amenities.

When it comes to yacht design in general, my participation will depend on how much time I have between all of my other projects; but it is definitely something I find exciting, especially when looking into new technologies. One of the components I talk about with Benetti is hybrid power trains, which will be offered for this yacht, as well as the use of solar panels similar to what I pioneered on the Fisker Karma. I also think the next big thing for the industry is connectivity in both safety and entertainment, so we will incorporate many of those advancements as well. Is there a date to begin building the first one? We are currently negotiating with a couple of potential clients for the first one but can build two simultaneously and should be able to start in the next three months. Legendary car designer Henrik Fisker just unveiled a beautiful luxury yacht lined with solar panels By: Danielle Muoio When legendary car designer Henrik Fisker decided to make a comeback with a new supercar, the Force 1, the auto industry paid attention.

After all, it was Fisker's first foray back into design after his hybrid luxury kar the Karma became a distant memory when Fisker Automotive went bankrupt in 2011. But the designer isn't only sticking with cars this time around — Fisker teamed up with custom yacht designer Benetti to create a new superyacht. Here's a closer look: Called the Fisker 50, the 164-foot yacht comes with a beach club, spa, several bars, and an oceanfacing Jacuzzi.


Fisker told Tech Insider he decided to design the yacht over "a nice glass of rosĂŠ" with representatives from Benetti who were "looking for someone to come in and think out of the box."

"It was exciting to get into a project that, in one way, is so different and, on other hand, is still a product that moves people and entertains people," Fisker said. "Yes, it's on the ocean and doesn't have wheels, but I found it intriguing and exciting to do and it's been an amazing experience." The yacht has a large living room that can fit 12 people with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and a bar facing the ocean.


There are six cabins that can fit up to 12 guests. The staff quarters allow for 11 crew members to be on deck.

The master suite has a library, personal bathroom, fireplace, and minibar. There's also his/her closets, a curved TV, and starlit ceiling. Not a bad view to wake up to.


There are also several areas for sunbathing and drinking, like this one on the upper deck.

\ And the sun deck comes with a dining table, bar, and dual-use fire pit.

But none of his past works come anywhere close to the sheer magnitude of his latest project: the Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht. Yes, it’s a yacht, and a super one at that. The Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht is a result of a collaboration between the Danish designer and the Italian shipyard. It measures 164 feet long and is pegged to be built using materials like carbon fiber, reclaimed wood, and other items of the exotic variety. Fisker calls it a “new breed of luxury yacht” and judging by the kind of amenities it has, the man might even be restrained in his choice of words. So, here’s the lowdown on the enormous, three-deck Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht. It has roof-mounted solar panels, reclaimed wood decks, a spacious salon, a top-deck lounge, swimming pool, sunbathing decks, and a “beach club” swim platform. It also has as many as six guest cabins and quarters for as many as 11 crew members. All of that and I still haven’t touched on the master suite, which is a whole new level of opulence on its own. Consider that this massive room comes with owns library, folddown balcony, fireplace, starlight ceiling, walk-in closets, and a private staircase that leads to a private home theater. You have to give it to Henrik Fisker. This is a man that has had his share of failures in the past and yet, none of those setbacks have come to define him. Instead, he’s soldiered on, working his way into the conversation as one of the most influential designers of his generation. We’ll always remember him for his work on the Aston Martin DB9 and BMW Z8. We’ll also remember him for the Fisker Karma, but that’s a different discussion altogether. But now, Henrik Fisker is preparing to conquer a whole new market with the Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht. Obviously, the clientele here is far more exclusive than the ones he was used to in the auto industry. That much I can tell considering the amount of work and effort he put into designing the Fisker 50. Now I’ve been in the superyacht scene in the past, but I can say that I’m still no expert at it. Yet something about this design and his partnership with Benetti makes me believe that the Fisker 50 will be more than just a concept in the future. later. If it does, consider the Fisker 50 the crowning achievement of Henrik Fisker’s career, at least until we get to see how the Force 1 supercar project comes about. Speaking of which, I’m more excited to see that one because it’s a little closer to home for me. And more importantly, despite it’s million-dollar price tag, it would still be more affordable than the Fisker 50 superyacht. Either way, it’s a great career move for Fisker, as if he needed it in the first place.

The Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht concept calls for a vessel measuring 164 feet, or roughly the length of 10 Karmas parked nose to tail. In that space, Fisker and Benetti envision fitting a spacious salon, a top-deck lounge, swimming pool, sunbathing decks, and "beach club" swim platform, plus six guest cabins, and quarters for 11 crew members. All that spread across three decks with floor-to-ceiling glass walls. The master suite alone boasts a library, fold-down balcony, fireplace, and a private staircase to the upper deck with a home theater that can be converted into a gym.

The yacht is designed to be built using carbon fiber, reclaimed wood, and other exotic materials. Of course it would be up for the eventual commissioning owner to specify the vessel to his or her needs from the shipyard in Tuscany. That includes the powertrain combination, but true to the Fisker name, a hybrid propulsion system will be on offer. Solar panels are also part of the design. Given the high cost associated with commissioning a yacht this size, it may be a while before Benetti finds a buyer – much less actually gets it out on the open water. The concept integrated a crossover platform developed by Benetti's engineering team with Fisker's sporty exterior and interior design. This new design concept aims to enhance and optimize the onboard experience by utilizing more space on the vast superyacht for both entertaining and leisure. The design adds a new "human flow" element to reduce unused space and increase its functionality. The exterior uses light weight carbo fiber and other exotic materials and reclaimed wood, integrated solar panels and optional hybrid power, with the optimization of ocean views from all major cabins. The yacht includes a beach club, spa, several bars, a pool and sunbathing areas on multiple decks onboard. A lot of care has also gone into the living areas, considering the possible uses for private parties or work-time happenings, specifically the enormous main salon with a secondary salon on the upper deck complete with a long bar counter. The future owner will welcome 12 guests in six cabins, looked after by 11 crew members with comfortable staff quarters. Henrik Fisker là nhà thiết kế ô tô nổi tiếng thế giới. Ông có thời gian dài làm việc tại BMW, Tesla, và Aston Martin. Ông chính là người thiết kế nên chiếc Tesla Model S nổi tiếng. Đây là thiết kế du thuyền đầu tiên của ông với ý tưởng là một chiếc siêu xe trên nước. Siêu du thuyền được đặt tên là Benetti “Fisker 50” được đóng bởi hãng đóng du thuyền nổi tiếng thế giới Benetti. Sự kết hợp này được giới chuyên gia đánh giá sẽ làm thoả mãn cả những tín đồ mê siêu xe lẫn những người ưa thích du lịch biển. Được biết, siêu du thuyền này có chiều dài là khoảng 48,7 mét, được thiết kế tại California và dự kiến sẽ sản xuất tại cảng Livorno (Italy). Sau khi hoàn thành, siêu du thuyền có giá bán dự kiến là gần 50 triệu USD (hơn 1.100 tỷ đồng).

Mặc dù hãng Benetti từ chối tiết lộ các chi tiết đặc biệt bên trong nội thất của siêu du thuyền này, song người phát ngôn của hãng này cho biết, du thuyền có một sảnh lớn, một spa, vài quầy bar và cả bể sục Jacuzzi. Fisker sẵn sàng sản xuất Fisker 50 cho bất kỳ khách hàng nào quan tâm và muốn sở hữu nó.

Siêu dù thuyền sẽ được xây dựng tại cảng Livorno, Ý và chịu trách nhiệm đội ngũ kỹ sư, công nhân của hãng Benetti.

Về không gian bên trong Fisker 50, ngoài không gian dành cho 11 thuyền viên, siêu du thuyền còn có sức chứa một số lượng lớn hành khác nữa, tùy thuộc vào ý muốn của chủ sở hữu và danh sách khách mời.

Đặc biệt, siêu du thuyền còn sở hữu 6 phòng ngủ dành cho khách, mỗi phòng đều có một thư viện và phòng tắm riêng với tầm nhìn ra biển, một quầy bar nhỏ, tủ chứa đồ cùng một tivi màn hình cong cỡ lớn.

Trần các phòng được thiết kế như một bầu trời đêm với một lò sưởi treo tường hiện đại. Sàn được ốp gỗ, các bức tường bọc vải và lát đá cẩm thạch. Chưa hết, Fisker 50 được thiết kế một sảnh lớn, một spa, vài quầy bar – nơi sẽ diễn ra những bữa tiệc trên biển sôi động.

Giá ước tính của siêu du thuyền sau khi hoàn thành lên đến 37 triệu USD. Đây là du thuyền đầu tiên được thiết kế bởi Henrik Fisker, với ngoại thất và trang bị ấn tượng, cao cấp, Fisker 50 được đánh giá là siêu du thuyền “đỉnh” trong mọi khó cạnh, chinh phục người mua khó tính nhất.
