Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) Since 1997, in TALLINN Mission:  Introduce the world cinema culture to Estonian and international public  Popularise the cinema in Estonia  Encourage the interactions between the film and cinema professionals both on national and international level  Introduce the Estonian cinema culture abroad PÖFF belongs to the world top 50 of 2500 international film festivals (FIAPF- International Federation of Film Producers Associations accredits only 52 festivals). PÖFF is one of the most important film festivals in the Nordics and Eastern Europe with its size of programme and number of visits. PÖFF can be categorised at the same level as renowned international film festivals in Venice, Berlin, Rotterdam and Göteborg. In 2010 the festivals organised by PÖFF attracted altogether 105,000 visits. 2

Overview of world cinema:  Award-winning films from other film festivals  Extensive programme of documentary films  Retrospective of film makers, film studio or film genre, focus on one or several countries  Film production markets The main emphasis is on European cinema. Competition programmes:  International film competition EurAsia  Tridens Baltic feature film competition *  North-American indie feature film competition * From 2012 this programme will be extended to Baltic Sea Region and renamed as Baltic Sea Films Competition (including Scandinavia and Russia).

Black Market Industry Screenings Activities:  Presentation of over 100 films in production and postproduction from the Baltics, Nordics, Russia, Central Asia, South Caucasus, Belorussia  Open discussion and international seminar “Industry Day” on piracy and alternative film distribution issues  Trainings on copyright issues for film professionals  “Books to Films” – opportunity offered to 15 writers from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Nordics, Russia and Georgia to present their books to film makers Target group:  Film professionals from above mentioned regions
