The Dragon Boat Festival, also often known as the Tuen Ng or Duanwu Festival, is a traditional and statutory holiday originating in China. The festival occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional lunar calendar. The focus of most celebrations involves eating zongzi (sticky rice treats wrapped in bamboo leaves), drinking realgar wine and racing dragon boats. The sun is considered to be at its strongest around the time of summer solstice, as the daylight in the northern hemisphere is the longest. The sun, like the Chinese dragon, traditionally represents masculine energy, whereas the moon, like the phoenix, traditionally represents feminine energy. The summer solstice is considered the annual peak of male energy while the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, represents the annual peak of feminine energy. The masculine image of the dragon was thus naturally associated with Duanwu.

Other common activities include hanging up icons of Zhong Kui (a mythic guardian figure), hanging mugwort and calamus, taking long walks, and wearing perfumed medicine bags. Other traditional activities include a game of making an egg stand at noon (this „game“ is one that if you make the egg stand at exactly 12:00 noon, you will have luck for the next year), and writing spells. All of these activities, together with the drinking of realgar wine, were regarded by the ancients as effective in preventing disease or evil and promoting health and well-being.

Print&Production

In the early years of the Republic of China, Duanwu was celebrated as „Poets‘ Day“ due to Qu Yuan‘s status as China‘s first known poet. The Taiwanese also sometimes conflate the spring practice of egg-balancing with Duanwu.

Nutritionists discovered that complex carbohydrates have a positive influence on mood, meaning pasta makes you happy in the truest sense of the word. A substance in the brain, a so-called neuro transmitter known as serotonin, is responsible for good feelings. It commands our nerve cells to turn our soul from dark to light again. Carbohydrates, amongst others, are vital for for the production of serotonin. Scientifically the following occurs: The brain usually builds serotonin independently. This requires differing substances, in particular the amino acid tryptophan. We obtain tryptophan mainly from meat, yogurt, fish and eggs. With a simultaneous intake of carbohydrates, such as pasta, the following hapHow much tryptophan finds its way into the pens: brain depends on what else we eat. The more complex carbohydrates we eat at the same The pancreas distributes insulin to break time, the more tryptophan enters the brain. down the carbyhydrates. The link is in and of itself quite simple. Other amino acids have the desire to get into the brain. Neutral long-chain amino acids use both the same carrier and transport system in the central nervous system as tryptophan. Therefore there is a certain competition.

Insulin also promotes the absorption of neutral amino acids into the muscles. Since the absorption of long-chain neutral amino acids by the muscles is thus amplified, there is less competion with tryptophan to pass through bloodbrain barrier. More tryptophan can then be absorbed by the brain and stimulate the production of serotonin. Consuming plenty of carbohydrates together with foods rich in tryptophan provide therefore ideal prerequisites to shim a blue mood into a positive. An ideal combination is found in egg pasta. This means the claim „pasta makes you happy“ can be scientifically proved.

Welcome to Leikeim, the traditional family brewery. We still brew our beer using artisanal methods which are nonetheless state of the art in terms of technology and hygiene. It goes without saying that we only brew in accordance with the German purity law (since 1516) and are proud of the fact that Leikeim regularly receives awards from the German Agricultural Society. That’s because only the finest ingredients and raw materials from the Bavarian region go into making our first-class beer. This gives Leikeim a distinctive, unique taste – in many different varieties and specialities, so that everyone can say: “I leik it.” Are you familiar with the new face of Leikeim? In our campaign, many nice people get together and they all have one thing in common: they enjoy drinking an Original Leikeim. And one more important thing: we brew responsibly – in tune with man and nature. Cheers, and good health!

The malt - the strenght of our beer! Double spaced summer brewing barley and wheat are coming from franconia and are the main raw materials , which are used to make wheatmalt and barleymalt. The hop - soul of our beer! Used is only the best hop, from several bavarian and franconian producer regions. The brewingwater - the body of our beer! Pure, soft and clear it comes from a deep well. The minerals in the water add a magnificent flavour to our beer. The brewer‘s yeast - the spirit of our beer! We just use our own top-fermented and bottom-fermented yeast strain, that we wind in our clean breed facility. That leads to a intensive fermentation.

In 1851 Ernst Schering bought a pharmacy in Berlin and named it „Green pharmacy“. He expanded the industrial production of pharmaceutical chemicals and in 1857 the first buildings of the nowadays worldwide known Schering AG were build. While Ernst Schering witnessed the great rise of Schering AG in management and supervisory boards, the „Green Pharmacy“ remains family-owned and is run by son Richard Schering. 1881 his Son founded an additional factory called „R. Schering chemical pharmaceutical preparations“. Supplies include specialities like: „Pure malt extract“, Liquid tar-soap, „medical soap“ and in particular „Medical Wine“. These products take leading positions because of their high quality and impact. The second World War shatters decades of work and ownership, of the family. The farmacy and factory remain destroyed in East Berlin. After the War, the Hanseatic city Lübeck becomes the keypoint of today‘s company Blücher-Schering GmbH & Co. KG. All products have as in the past an natural origin. A more recent addition to the supply, is the bottling of a famous wine called „Lübeck Rotspon“. Only Blücher-Schering is allowed to bottle the „Rotspon“, store and dispense it in the Hanseatic city.

From raw material through packaging to the final product - every substance and item is scrutinized until perfection according to stringent guidelines. Not a single sebamed container, flacon or tube gets onto the market without the approval of the QC Department. Cost-efficient manufacture of sebamed products by subcontracted manufacturers would not be possible without the stringent quality control of the QC Department. Checks are carried out on site before the start of production, during production and on the final product. The purity, identity and concentration of the constituents are examined by the Analysis Department using the latest technologies such as HPLC (high-pressure liquid chromatography) and GC (gas chromatography). The level of individual substances in the finished product is also examined, thus completing the quality control system. For the Microbiology Department the safety of the products in terms of microbic contamination has top priority. Already during the product development stage the use of preservatives is optimized by means of preservative load tests (repeated inoculation and incubation of products with relevant bacteria and fungi under the stipulation that they should not reproduce in the product) to ensure that only the smallest possible amount of preservatives necessary is used. Raw materials, packaging and production systems as well as the finished products are closely checked for microbiological purity. No pathogen manages to get past the staff of the Microbiology Department with their state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. Based on this system, stringent dermatological requirements for modern medicinal skin care can be ensured by all Sebapharma GmbH & Co.KG products, which have set standards time and time again. The milwa company that we know today is a „descendent“of the crafts producer Gottlieb Wilhelm Schladitz which was founded 1818 in Bad Schmiedeberg. His son, Carl Moritz Schladitz moved to Prettin, where he founded a soap factory in 1871. Until 1939 they mostly produced curd soap, fine-quality soap, soft soap and laundry detergent. Everything was sold directly to the consumer through their shop or with the help of sales representatives. After the 2nd World War, the factory was still owned by family Schladitz, but they stopped direct sales. They added a vary of new products to their range, for example scouring powder, household soft soap and various liquid cleaners. Starting in 1958, milwa began to export soap to Holland, England, Finland, Belgium and Singapore. From 1960-1970 milwa slowly but steadily startet to rearange their range of products. They then began to produce only pulverized laundry detergent and cleaning supplies. Today the Schladitz milwa GmbH provides only pulverized laundry detergent and cleaning supplies and is flexible in theire packing. Milwa is a company with over 140 years of tradition as a manufacturer of household chemicals and has lots of customers all over the world whom are convinced by the german quality standards.
