POLO News Cowdray Gold Cup The British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup is the premier polo tournament in Europe at 22 goal (High Goal) level.
Great Oaks LL and Talandracas Triumph in Debuts on Lawns Making their debuts in the British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup, reigning champions Thai Polo NP faced recent Cartier Queen’s Cup victors Great Oaks LL on Lawns 1, while Park Place took on Talandracas in the second match of the day on Lawns 2.
The evenly matched pace of the first half, the two teams traded goals in the fourth chukka, leaving a tie on the scoreboard but Park Place struggled with accuracy at goal, converting just two of their last ten shots in the match. Two goals from Muzzio highlighted the Talandracas offense in the fourth chukka, but Park Place broke the stalemate when Facundo Pieres found the goal on a 30-yard penalty attempt along with a goal in open play.

Marques de Riscal and Twelve Oaks Earn Narrow Victories The British Open Polo Championship for the Cowdray Gold Cup continued on the fourth day of play beginning with Marques de Riscal against UAE on Brooks Field, followed by Twelve Oaks facing Monterosso on Ambersham 3. Trying to become the first team to two victories in the tournament, UAE opened the scoring on a 30- yard penalty conversion from Tommy Beresford, but a foul-ridden opening chukka turned the momentum to Marques de Riscal. Scoring three unanswered goals, including two penalty conversions, Guillermo Caset guided Marques de Riscal to an early 3-1 lead. Improving their discipline, UAE was able to respond in the second chukka, relying on two field goals from Bartolome Castagnola Jnr as part of a three-goal run that helped bring them back within one. Exchanging goals in the third chukka with contributions from both Caset in the field and Beresford at the line, the two evenly matched opponents maintained the one-goal difference with Marques de Riscal leading 6-5 into the halftime break.
Marques de Riscal tried to withstand the UAE pressure, but sent their opponent to the penalty line on four different occasions. Unable to convert two attempts from the 40yard line and two from the 60-yard line, UAE fell a goal short as a scoreless final chukka secured the 11- 10 win for Marques de Riscal. www.cowdraypolo.co.uk

Ready For Summer? Here’s How To Make It Your Most Stylish Yet Summer is, ironically, both the season when we wear the fewest clothes and the one that presents the most problems in terms of what to wear. Sandals or no sandals? How short should shorts be? And so on, which is why we’ve tried to keep our checklist concise this year. Dior Eyewear
Make the details count The finishing touches can make or break an outfit and summer calls for a well-chosen set of accessories. We’d suggest starting with a good beach bag, then thinking about what to put in it. This one, by Marni, is spacious enough to store all your holiday essentials, from a beach towel to a tablet or book and Acne Studios’ bucket hat. A good pair of sunglasses is a must-have, too. Much like your signature scent or grooming routine, shades are personal. Once you’ve found a pair that works, it’s hard to try something new.
Floris London Vert Fougère Eau de Parfum
Say “yes” to prints With the colder days, we hope, behind us, now’s the time to shed some outerwear. Where to start? Say “yes” to adventurous colours, prints and patterns. They aren’t always easy to get right, so we suggest you start with something low-key that works with your existing wardrobe.

Choose your fabrics wisely One way to make dressing up in summer more enjoyable is to choose layers that won’t cling as you breeze through the hottest months of the year. Pick relaxed silhouettes to allow air to flow and choose your fabrics wisely. Cotton is certainly a more heat-appropriate fabric than anything you’d wear in the trans-seasonal months, while linen – known for its natural crinkle and moisturewicking properties – will keep your body temperature regulated and feel cool to the touch. Italian brand 120% LINO specialises in linen.

Nature will definitely play a pivotal role during your Mediterranean holiday. So, why not celebrate it in all its glory by embodying it? Floral patterns, bright colours, cheeky prints… you choose! LE MONTAIGNE
To mark the occasion of the reinvention of 30 Avenue Montaigne – the beating heart of the House, transformed after two years of renovation – Dior is presenting an exceptional diamond, named, as a tribute to the legendary address, Le Montaigne. Discovered in 2020, in South Africa’s historic Kimberley Mine, this 150-carat rough diamond fascinates with its dazzling beauty. Dior has declared its desire to see such a singular, bewitching stone included in its unique patrimony, on one condition: that the diamond, once cut, must weigh precisely 88.88 carats, echoing the number 8, which is inseparable from the Dior legacy.
After nine months of studying, modeling, cutting – carried out by master gem cutters with virtuoso savoir-faire – and then certification, Le Montaigne reveals its intense yellow hues, the clarity of its glints and its incomparable brilliance. Displayed in the new boutique at 30 Avenue Montaigne for its inauguration, it will then be mounted on a custommade piece designed by Victoire de Castellane, Artistic Director of Dior Joaillerie. An ode to the infinite creativity of the House and the excellence of its ateliers.

Imagined as an elevated take on a fishermen’s abode, it exudes a distinctive laid-back beachside vibe and comforts its guests with a selection of all-time holiday favourites, all served under the shelter of its palm-thatched roof. Few places take their sundowners as seriously as Cove. Claim one of the coveted private cabanas, toast your fortunes with an artfully blended cocktail and watch the final few rays turn the sky from rich blue to a pallette of pink and orange as a resident DJ spins a mix of chillout sets against the setting sun.
Whether your pastime of choice is relaxing on the beach, working out in a state-of-the-art gym or exploring a new culture, there is a multitude of recreational activities on offer. Explore the ancient streets and houses of Hoi An, sample the local food, shop at the world-famous silk tailors or join an evening boat trip down the river. Should your preference be to while away your day at a more leisurely pace, find your spot on the powder white beach or slip into relaxation and wellbeing at the Tranquility lounge. If looking to perfect your swing, head down to Hoiana Shores Golf Club, an 18-hole sustainable links course designed by Robert Trent Jones JR. Regarded as a pioneer of environmental golf courses, he carefully incorporated the native sand dune ecosystem and towering casuarina trees into a one-off experience. Officially launched in March 2020 after 6 months of preview play in support of local charities, it took no time for Hoiana Shores Golf Club to be recognised as the World’s Best New Golf Course at the World Golf Awards 2020, the most prestigious event in in the golf tourism industry. Once you have seen all the street-level sights, it’s time to change vantage point. Cap your day at the Edge, a chic rooftop restaurant perched on the 16th floor beside a shimmering infinity pool. Set against a stunning sea backdrop, the open-air terrace makes a striking first impression with its vertical tropical gardens and playful swinging chairs upholstered in elegant grey.
Linger over the Instagram-ready high tea extravaganza or reward yourself with a 24-karat burger. Of course, the creativity does not end there! The newest signature cocktail showcasing locally produced sugar cane rum and served with a spritz of perfume is proving to be a real showstopper. While being part of the local fabric and culture, Hoiana Hotel&Suites is very much in tune with the wider world. The international team of culinary experts keeps its guests on their toes by constantly developing exciting gastronomic concepts, from cosy beach picnics and fun destination dining to monthly-rotating signature dishes inspired by one stunning ingredient like succulent Cham island lobster or decadent Wagyu beef. Taking mixology up a notch, the artistic team of bartenders shake up crowd-pleasing delights with a local twist. From banana spritz and beer margarita to do-it-yourself gin cocktails, the resort’s extensive drinks list is a refined exercise in alchemy influenced with flavours and ingredients that evoke both Vietnamese heritage and the latest global trends.

The Mediterranean Can Aulí
LUXURY RETREAT
Hotel Can Auli a Luxury Retreat in Mallorca
Can Aulí LUXURY RETREAT Located
in the attractive rural town of Pollensa in the north-west of Mallorca, Can Aulí is an example of the fusion between tradition and modernity. It impacts from the moment you enter its reception after going through a blind arch in its simple stone facade. Far from being a conventional place to sojourn, Can Aulí is a laid-back haven for those looking to slow down and melt into the blissfully languid Mallorcan way of life. Enjoy an afternoon rest to a soundtrack of birdsong, a quiet moment with a book in the shade of a tree or sundowner on a beautifully lit terrace, and you too will fall in love with Can Aulí. Housed in a 17th-century mansion, Can Aulí bears little resemblance to the traditional idea of a hotel. Its ancient stone arches and staircases ooze historical charm while a refreshing focus on natural materials and local artistry pays homage to the island’s distinct beauty and boundless creativity.
Time seems to slow from the moment you’re greeted at Can Aulí’s entrance, and this relaxed feeling will stay with you throughout your sojourn. A sense of warmth, naturalness and homeliness fills the hotel – it’s the sort of place where everyone smiles at you and says hello.
In the outdoor courtyard inviting poufs, benches and deck chairs are conducive to undisturbed afternoons by the pool or long, balmy evenings spent chatting to friends.
Whether you come here to sit and reminisce about the day’s highlights or simply listen to cicadas strike up their summer tune, you’ll love spending time in the pretty courtyard.
From melt-in-your-mouth Cantabrian anchovies “00” to crumbly artisanal cheeses and acorn-fed Iberian ham, only the most superlative delicacies passed the rigorous taste test! The result is an informal yet sophisticated menu which will leave gourmands spoilt for choice. In fact, even the most decisive foodies will experience prolonged moments of indecision before settling on what to feast. Only the finest regional ingredients and expertly purveyed charcuterie and conservas are used to create a Mediterranean-inspired and carefully curated menu. A wonderful showcase of local delicatessens.

Uncovering the Mystery Behind

England’s Most Expensive Cheese
The Art Of Cheese Cheese isn’t cheap. And top-shelf cheeses – the kind revered by gourmands and stored in vault-like cellars – can fetch prices that match those of fine wines and whiskies. So, what’s the most expensive cheese in the world? The answer might surprise you. The production of cheese predates recorded history. Over the centuries it has become a true art form, and cheesemakers continue to outdo each other when it comes to creating the world’s best cheeses. Not surprisingly, the price tags associated with these premium products tend to reach incredible heights as well.
The first production of cheese is estimated to have begun about 8-10,000 years ago. References to the art of cheesemaking have been found in ancient Greek mythology, and evidence of this culinary art has been found on Egyptian tomb murals dating back over 4,000 years. By the time of the Roman Empire, cheesemaking had become a widespread throughout Europe and the Middle East. As the years rolled by, this culinary craft was refined and improved, employing a myriad of techniques to make the limitless variations of this dairy delight that we enjoy today. Interestingly, many of the world’s most popular cheeses – Cheddar, Swiss, Parmesan, and Gouda, for instance – are relatively newcomers within the grand story of cheese, with histories dating back a mere 500 years or so.
To this day the art of cheesemaking continues to become more and more refined, which causes connoisseurs to regularly ask the question: “What’s the best cheese in the world?” This is, of course, a subjective query, with no single correct answer. However, one could rephrase the question and simply ask, “What’s the most expensive cheese in the world?” instead.
Today the dairy produces a number of delicious 100% English cheeses and cheese products, such as Blue Shropshire, Rutland red, and a range of sweet and savoury cheese blends – all made using century-old expertise alongside innovative techniques. But if you want some of that exclusive White Stilton Gold come Christmas, then you probably better put your order in now.
The answer to that question is Pule, a crumbly white cheese that commands a staggering US$600 per pound. However, this has more to do with its rarity, and not so much its flavour, as the high cost is attributed to the fact that it’s made from the milk of a Balkan donkey, native only to Serbia and Montenegro – and 25 litres of milk are needed to produce just one kg of Pule. Only slightly less costly is White Stilton Gold, available in England from the venerable Long Clawson Dairy, located in Leicestershire. Produced as a holiday exclusive, this soft white cheese is crafted using actual gold, and retails for about US$400 per pound.
The history of the Long Clawson Dairy dates back to 1911, but it wasn’t until 1996 that Stilton was granted a European ‘Protected Designation of Origin’ (PDO) status. This means that cheese can only “legally” be called Stilton if it is made in one of in three English counties: Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire or Leicestershire. And producers have to follow traditional recipes that have been around for generations. Of course, Long Clawson was already well-known for their blue Stiltons by then. In fact, in 1986, to celebrate their 75th anniversary, they entered The Guinness Book of World Records as the producers of the world’s largest Stilton, which weighed in at 29 kilos (64 pounds), and measured a metre in diameter.

The best properties on the market, available to buy and rent now.
The Penthouses & Sky Villas at the St. Regis Miami Are Now up for Sale If living high above the treetops is your sort of thing, the new St. Regis Residences Miami might be exactly what you’re looking for. The project, which consists of two towers, the Astor and the William, features penthouses and sky villas perfect for those seeking literal high-end accommodations. 183 units total are up for sale in the 46-story William tower, which should be completed in 2026, the penthouses and sky villas are the true showstoppers. The two upper penthouses and four sky villas will truly provide a living experience like no other.
Each penthouse will be a duplex unit with a private rooftop, where there will be a summer kitchen and pool. The first floor will feature an additional outdoor terrace for enjoying Florida’s good weather. The views from these units will be outstanding, since there aren’t many new high-rises in the surrounding area and new builds are allowed to go higher than was previously allowed. That basically guarantees 360degree views of the ocean, downtown Miami and the Brickell neighborhood where the residences will be located.
St. Regis Residences Miami
Miami
The penthouse and villas will have incredible views at St. Regis Residences Miami.
“It really feels like a home in the sky,” Jon Paul Pérez, the president of Related Group
The sky villas, meanwhile, will be about 6,000 to 7,000 square feet, with an open living/dining area that takes up the entire front of the building. These units will also have large terraces, and most of the bedrooms will be on the second level. Throughout the towers, the condos come standard with 11-foot ceilings, custom European marble floors, Italian cabinetry, Wolf appliances and full-height wine refrigerators. While the units themselves are quite spectacular, the building wouldn’t live up to its St. Regis name without some pretty outstanding amenities. Pérez noted that the two towers will share 60,000 square feet of amenities, including a St. Regis spa, a fullservice restaurant, three pools (not including the private penthouse pools), sky bars/ terraces, cognac rooms and tearooms. Additionally, residents will have access to a private marina, which Pérez said is unique because marinas are no longer being approved for new buildings in Florida.
The sky villas are selling for $15 million to $19 million, while the penthouses start at $24 million. www.st-regisresidencesbrickell.com
The
6 Most Expensive Homes in the World for
Sale 1. Stonewall Farm, Westchester County, New York - $100 Million The epic, 740-acre equestrian estate is Westchester County’s largest, and has produced the winning horses of 40 stakes races. The owner, Calvin Klein cofounder Barry Schwartz, developed the property for about 40 years to create room for 88 steeds. Just an hour from Belmont Park, the grounds also sport a turf race track, round pens and fenced paddocks. Not to be outdone, the 24,000-square-foot Colonial manor house, which was designed by New Yorkbased architect Rebecca Rasmussen, offers eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms and one of the most impressive libraries we’ve seen. There’s also a 60foot pool, gardens and a butterfly house in case you get sick of the horses.
Christie’s International Real Estate
2. The Penthouse at 432 Park Ave, Manhattan, New York - $169 Million
Photo: Donna Dotan
The price is almost double what the owner, realestate developer Fawaz Alhokair, paid for it in 2016. On top of that, 432 Park Ave has had plenty of negative buzz this year (for more on that, see No. 16 on this list). Still, it’s not without its perks: The 8,225-square-foot penthouse is a full-floor unit with 24 windows, so the home certainly takes advantage of its lofty location. All of the furniture is part of the deal, too, including pieces from Hermès, Fendi and Bentley, plus a custom piano that has a brass plate printed with “Penthouse 96” on the side.
3. Vatuvara Private Islands, Fiji $155 Million A mansion is great, but your own resort is better. Priced at $155 million, the Vatuvara Isles comes with a set of luxury hotel villas, along with a private Twin Otter aircraft to get you to and from the far-flung Fijian island. You can choose to continue running the three villas as is, or relinquish managerial duties and turn them into an exclusive oasis for yourself. In addition to this main island, the purchase also includes three other isles that are much less developed. That means there is scope to create more seaside escapes for you and your crew. It’s social distancing at its finest. Vatuvara Private Islands
4. Little Pipe Cay, Exumas, Bahamas - $100 Million Little Pipe Cay to relist, for $15 million more than it originally asked in 2018. The big draw here is that, unlike many other isles on the market, this one already has all of the necessary infrastructure in place, so you can move in right away. It’s a 40-acre piece of land altogether, with a 5,300-square-foot main residence that comes fully furnished. Since it’s situated in the Exumas archipelago it’s not too far off from Miami either. However, like any private island, operational costs are a factor here—you’ll have to cough up about $1.5 million per year to keep it up and running. Build it out into a resort, though, and the place may just pay for itself.
Photo: Lifestyle Production Group
5. Steve Wynn Mansion, LosAngeles, California - $115 Million Casino mogul Steve Wynn relisted his Beverly Hills digs this year at a price cut—it was originally put on the market for $135 million in 2020. Nevertheless, the property is a significant piece of real estate, with a 27,000-square-foot home and 2.7 acres of land. Wynn’s shopping it for significantly more than he originally paid: a mere $47.8 million in 2015. Like the former executive’s glitzy Las Vegas properties, the residence feels a bit like a resort, complete with a tennis court, swimming pool and pool house. It’s not the only home that he’s shopping at the moment either: Wynn also relisted his Vegas pad last year for $24.5 million.

6. Sloane House, London, England $200 Million
Photo: Courtesy of Society Group
It’s no easy feat to turn a historic 18th-century Georgian estate into a luxurious modern abode, but Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone has managed to do exactly that with Sloane House. The British billionaire decided to keep the shell of the property, which is located in the tony neighborhood of Chelsea, but rebuilt pretty much everything else in just shy of five years. One highlight is the new basement, which includes a pool, gym, spa, hammam and squash courts, along with a salon, a kid’s playhouse and a screening room. Valued in excess of $200 million, the revamped property is now one of London’s hottest off-market offerings. For Real Estate, contact: james@poloandlifestylemagazine.com
