Q. You are a fast-growing organisation with a view to tap newer market segments; please provide us with an insight into your plans for investing in infrastructure and research.

GOLDMINE Multitrade started its activities in 2018 as a manufacturer of good quality colour, filler and additive masterbatch along with engineering thermoplastic compounding for varied industrial applications offering cost-effective solutions to customers.

We started with 6,000 MT/annum capacity with only one line and within the tenure of three years, our current capacity is 18,000 MT/annum with five lines. Our production and R&D team is consistent in developing newer applications keeping ‘Excellence in Quality’ as our prime objective. In-house laboratory and R&D facilities are equipped with high-end equipment. We earmark special budget on yearly basis for R&D to develop new applications as well as cost-effective and qualitative solutions for our customers. Our team is our asset!

Q. Your views on the current trends in the Indian market.

After this pandemic, I believe, India will emerge as a hub for manufacturing in all the sectors and there will be a sharp growth in colour / filler / additive masterbatches and engineering thermoplastic compounding in the near future. Entrepreneurs will have to identify risks and manage business with aggressive methodologies to meet future demands. We are coming up with five new compounding and masterbatch lines to double our capacity to cater to the Indian markets. Quality products will be the key factor which will govern this demand and, therefore, we are ready with our inhouse R&D facility to develop new products.

Q. Your biggest learnings from the challenges presented during the pandemic?

The global pandemic, while creating new opportunities, also presented challenges for entrepreneurs. As such, our plant was running full capacity for most of the times; however, the key challenges we faced during this time was availability of raw materials and uncertain price movements. However, as a professional setup, we respected our price commitment to our customers irrespective of uncertain raw material prices keeping in mind our motto, ‘Excellence in Quality’.

Q. Understanding customer requirements and being able to exceed expectations by implementing skills in production and R&D...your views.

Thinking out-of-the-box, focusing on R&D for new products as well as consistent improvement in quality, enhancing skills of our team and going that extra mile for customers are our focus areas.

Q. How do you see the market for ‘special effect masterbatches’?

Increasing demand for plastics packaging, increase in use of plastics in automobile industry, development and manufacturing of medical devices is expected to drive the demand for special effect masterbatches. Due to their ease of processing, comparatively light in weight, non-ferrous properties, flexibility and superior biocompatibility, masterbatches have become an integral component for a wide range of medical devices, diagnostics and drug delivery systems, surgical instruments, orthopedic implants and orthopedics.

Q. Your views on ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘vocal for local’.

I think, this is a great step by the government to make India more independent. This will explore the talent pool of India to make the Indian economy still stronger in coming years.

Q. Your role model whom you look up to and why?

Our customers, suppliers and our team are our biggest role models. Each day there is something new to learn or improve from them as they continuously adapt and innovate their systems and products.

Q. What would be your alternate choice of business or profession had it not been the plastics industry?

I would have preferred to be in academics, with which I could contribute to build

a stronger gennext for next level growth of the country.
