The main goal of the project is to develope connection between old city and lake while preserving all the advantages of the existing space and enriching it with a new public function. For that reason building is partially buried below ground level to preserve the primary function of the place - the square, and also keep windows of surrounding buildings open to the channel view. The entrances to the buildings are located at the main gathering points of pedestrians and marked by the rise of the building shape at the corners of the site. The usual trajectory of people moving through this territory is preserved and forms a “corridor” permeating the volume of the building and dividing it into parts. This solution allows us to provide more natural light for the areas buried under the ground and to form additional visual landmarks. Facades facing historical buildings serve as a showcase for the Workshop Center, attracting passers-by with views of the exhibition, workshop and restaurant. The height of the building and divisions of facade creates a comfort human scale environment. The new cultural center is facing the bay with an exploited terraced roof that can be reached from ground level. The curved shape of the roof serves as a viewing platform, offering panoramic views of the neighbor shore .
Основна мета проекту - розвивати зв’язок між старим містом та озером, зберігаючи всі переваги існуючого простору та збагачуючи його новою громадською функцією. З цієї причини будівля частково закопується нижче рівня землі, щоб зберегти основну функцію місця - площу, а також зберегти вікна навколишніх будівель відкритими для виду каналу. Входи до будинків розташовані в основних пунктах збирання пішоходів і позначені підйомом форми будівлі в кутах майданчика. Звичайна траєкторія людей, що рухаються цією територією, зберігається і утворює «коридор», що пронизує об’єм будівлі і розділяє її на частини. Це рішення дозволяє нам забезпечити більше природного світла для похованих під землею територій та сформувати додаткові візуальні орієнтири. Фасади, що стикаються з історичними будівлями, служать вітриною Центру майстерні, привертаючи перехожих з видом на виставку, майстерню та ресторан. Висота будівлі та поділи фасаду створюють комфортне середовище для людського масштабу. Новий культурний центр виходить на затоку з експлуатованим терасовим дахом, до якого можна дістатися з рівня землі. Вигнута форма даху служить оглядовим майданчиком, відкриваючи панорамний вид на сусідній берег.
