CONTAINERS Containers in, containers out, there is a constant flow through Port of Tyne’s deepwater, high-security container terminal.
Known as South Shields (GBSSH) we play a vital role in, and add value to many unique, complex and timesensitive supply chains providing flexibility to handle the ebb-and-flow of customer demand.
What’s in the boxes? Tea, clothing, household goods, automotive parts and recovered materials, to name just a few.
Our regular feeder connections to and from Felixstowe and Rotterdam allow our customers to bring their goods closer to the point of consumption, reducing CO2 emissions vs. road and rail.
“The Port has helped Komatsu reduce our carbon footprint by between 75 to 80% through coastal shipping via South Shields. The fact that the Port of Tyne is approximately 30 minutes away by road is a real benefit.” John Milbourne, Senior Purchasing Manager, Komatsu
