Collection zones

Collection is weekly for green carts (organics) and biweekly for blue (recycling) and grey (garbage) carts. Find your collection day info on the monthly calendar pages or:

• Download the free PoCo Sort & Report app: portcoquitlam.ca/sortreport

• Visit portcoquitlam.ca/waste (Waste Cart & Collection Info page)

For more waste sorting and collection information, check out the Sort it Right flipguide at portcoquitlam.ca/sortitright. A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH

This calendar has been printed on FSC®-certified paper with at least 10% post-consumer recycled content. The calendars were also delivered to Port Coquitlam households in 100% biodegradable plastic bags. Please recycle this calendar at the end of 2023.

One meal is enough to bring a bear back again and again. Secure attractants to keep your neighbourhood and bears safe and to avoid a fine. More info: portcoquitlam.ca/lockitright.

About our 2023 calendar

The theme of our 2023 calendar is once again Naturally PoCo, highlighting the beauty in the flowers, wildlife and landscapes that can be found in and around Port Coquitlam.

All photos featured in the calendar were submitted by community shutterbugs.

The cover image, entitled Humming Bird Nest, was captured by Michel Obadia near Hyde Creek.

We thank all contributors and will feature these and other submitted photos in City publications and portcoquitlam.ca/photos.

LOCK IT UP

• Secure attractants in a garage, shed, or with an approved cart lock.

• Pick ripe fruit and berries.

Don’t be a wishcycler.

Do you put things in the recycling bin without knowing if they can be recycled, or if you have prepared them properly?

When you wishcycle, more goes to the landfill. Wishcycling can also lead to expensive fines for the City, driving up costs that are passed on to taxpayers.

TWO WAYS TO AVOID WISHCYCLING:

1 Put waste in the right place

Check the Sort it Right search engine on the PoCo Sort & Report app or at portcoquitlam.ca/sortitright.

2 Prepare recyclables properly

• Empty and clean containers to prevent contaminating a load of recyclables.

• Keep recyclables loose to reduce processing problems – don’t bag, stack or bundle them

wishcycling • [wish] [sai·kluhng] verb

Learn more: portcoquitlam.ca/sortitright

Wishcycling is putting items in the recycling bin without knowing for sure if, where or how they should be recycled.
