MEASURED DRAWING OF A CROISSANT

How to measure a Croissant? First step is depicting the shape of croissant, then add hatching and shade to the croissant in order to increase it depth and value. After word, using fineline pen to out line the croissant and measure the croissant using ruler. In this assignment, I learned how to use Photoshop, Indesign and learned how to construct anxnometric drawing through this task

NEW MARIO WORLD

The making of new Mario world. In my Mario world, I was mainly focus on expressing details under the mario world. Thus, I added a lot of pipes’ work which linked with wells which above the ground and the messy sewage system. My key idea is to show the massive and messy underground stucture and form a significant contrast with the view above the ground.

These are all the equipment that I used when I do the project. Including T-square, set square, fine line and pencil.

The beginning of drawing the back part of the image Set the picture of mario world and tracing paper on the table with the angle of 45 degrees.

Using one picture of mario world as front view and another as back view. Axonometric

PAPER LANDSCAPE

The making of new landscape My landscape model is using 3d penalling vriables. The variations is about the changes of hight from high to low. The key idea of this landscape model is emphasize the hierachy of height. In the middle of the model, there is a large panel which represent the peak of a pyramid.

Print the unrolled panels and cut them out on the ivory card.

Fold the ivory card along the fold line and build it up.

Finished digital panelling model.

Using glue to stablised the panels and stick them together.

INVISIBLE CITY

[Cities & Signs 5: Olivia] This story mainly illustrate the rich and poor parts both exist in the city Olivia. Thus, my main ideal of the isometric is to devided the old quad in to the rich reigion and poor reigion. These two part meet and facing each other in the middle of the quad and form an ionic contrast.

9

This perspective shows the ‘rich reigion’ in the scene. A group of no- bles are enjoying their aftnoon tea in the light middle part. The fancy car- pet, curtain and crystal droplights all emphasised the luxury theme. At the back, Macro Polo is hidden in the shadow and tried to shoot the peacock. It provide a negtive sence and form a strong contrast with the front part.

10

This scene present the ‘ poor reigion’ in the story. In the front, a drunck man was crushed to a fence by a car. The scene is focusing on the civilian’s life and their industral life. People work hard for survive. This pespective create a ironic contract on standard of live with the first pe- spective.

REFLECTION

After a long-term study of Fod, the courses are really beneficial for spatial imagination and module construction. In the lecture, it teached us a lot of skills about drawing, and different use of lines and presentating different ideas. The lecture also preseent us with other classic building types or drawings in each time period for inspirating student the way of design. During the process of doing the assignments, I also learned many skills in this subjects. In Module 1, I learned how to present the three views of croissant and the anxonometric drawing, which also improved my drawing skills. In Module 2, I got the skill to convert the 2d picture in to a 3d world. It also further improve my skills on using Photoshop and Illustrator. Both Module 3&4 is focusing on improving the skills of using Rhino. M3 is more focus on the basic skills of using Rhino, such as make different panels and panellings. M4 put more focus on evoking our imagination and make design based on story. It is very clear that Fod is a crucial base of Architecture. If there is a particular module is not successful, the first impartant thing is to figure out which part is not good enough and try to solve the problems. In Moudule 4, I spend a lot of time on making my two perspectives looks clear and good. Later I do not have enough time to do my isometric view. Thus, the lables and lines in my isometric is a little mess and unclear. From this experience, it tought me the importance of using time properly.
