Amanda may only be 13 years old, but she's already got great taste! When it came time to pick a Bat Mitzvah theme, Amanda had a vision. That vision came to life at her Bat Mitzvah party, which was held at the Westminster Hotel in Livingston, NJ. The entire reception morphed into Amanda & Co., a shopping-inspired wonderland bathed in light blue! The signature color was incorporated everywhere, from the lighting to the centerpieces, to the cake and Amanda's dress! Guests were greeted at Amanda's bat mitzvah reception by a large signin board that featured an oversized charm bracelet with the letters of
Amanda's name. The sign-in board also included photos of popular luxury products as well as Amanda herself. The place cards were made to look like miniature shopping bags adorned with each person's name, table number and a white ribbon. No detail was missed when it came to staying true to the iconic theme. The dĂŠcor at Amanda's event was extremely elegant, exuding the upscale feel of shopping at the best designer stores in the world. White leather couches, chairs and ottomans were accented with light blue and metallic pillows in the lounge area. Tables were topped with various
centerpieces featuring LED crystal trees, iconic boxes, white flowers and candles floating in blue-tinted water. Amanda's Bat Mitzvah cake was made in the shape of a large blue box. Cupcakes topped with blue frosting and white fondant ribbons held the candles. For other sweet treats, guests were treated to a Dunkin' Donuts bar, one of Amanda's favorite desserts. Amanda had the best time celebrating with her friends and family, and as Amanda's mother revealed to us, that was the most special part of the entire experience.
The decor at Amanda's event was extremely elegant, exuding the upscale feel of shopping at the best designer stores in the world.

y t t i Sm JSC chews the fat with the Bar Mitzvah MC extraordinaire and shares some of his insights about how to keep the good times rolling! How long have you been an emcee, when did you start and how many parties do you think you have worked overall? I have been emceeing for a little over 20 years. I have probably performed for over 300,000 people…approximately 2,500 parties. How did you become an emcee? I was discovered about 25 years ago because of my dance abilities. I started as a dancer/motivator. Then, when I started working for Powerhouse Entertainment back in 1995, they saw my potential and elevated me to an emcee. I have been emceeing at all sorts of events ever since. What inspires you and motivates you to come out every day? Simply, because everything is in the moment. Every party is unique and the fun and crazy things that happen are special memories to me that I savor and remember always. What makes you so unique and why are you in such demand in the mitzvah industry? Because I have to have a great time at the party. It is not just a job for me; having fun and having the opportunity to meet and interact with new people in new environments is the greatest thing. I believe that shows through in my performance. I genuinely believe having a blast is the reason why I am in such demand. How do you remain so fit and energetic? Do you have a special workout routine or special diet you abide by? If YOU jump around with hundreds of kids, pre-teens and teens for three to five hours, several days a week…you wouldn’t need to ask that question…LOL. That is how I keep in shape (and no I don’t diet; in fact, I eat whatever I want). How long do you think you can continue to perform and emcee? I feel as long as I am physically able and my heart is in it (as it always has been) that I can perform for as long as clients still want to request me for their events.
What was the most unique moment at a party? My most unique moment at an event was the day I was written into the candle lighting speech by the Bat Mitzvah girl. I was so touched that I was important to give a candle to. What kind of music are kids listening to and how do you stay current yet age appropriate? In recent years, kids have come out of liking rap and it is now back to danceable pop. That is what is in now. Fortunately, most of the music that is popular today is appropriate for 13 year olds, and the songs that are questionable, we either don’t play or have appropriate radio edit versions of them. We pride ourselves on not playing music with cursing or inappropriate lyrics. What are some of the most outrageous themes that you have emceed? There was a party with a burlesque theme and they also had a troupe of Brazilian dancers perform. Another one the theme was COLORS and all the guests (and entertainers) had to dress in bright and outrageous colors. That was a fun and memorable party. Lastly, I was performing an event at Madison Square Garden on the basketball court. I went out to center court and did a break dance back spin in the middle of the floor. WOW, how many people get to do that in their lifetime? Are there any tips you have for parents in planning a bar/bat mitzvah that would help them to avoid pitfalls and assure that everyone has a great party experience? Make sure you supply your entertainers with a music request list; both a "play" list and "DO NOT play" list. That helps make the party personal. Make sure that you hire professionals who know how to run a party and specialize in getting guests to have a great time. Then relax and leave it to them to run the party. Don’t miss out on having fun at your own party, worrying about every little detail. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes…because if you are at MY party…you are going to dance! LOL!
