Dear Parents, It is an absolute honour for us to partner with you in the dedicating of this precious child of yours. Since our mission is about helping people find their way back to God, it's only fitting that we equip you to direct the path you and your family are on; to focus your faith on Jesus, and train your child. Baby Dedication is the first step to devoting your family to the teachings of Jesus, and it's a living example of walking in the words of Joshua "But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.�

BIBLICAL ROOTS FOR BABY DEDICATION
At PORTICO Community Church we believe that baby dedications are a commitment before God, the church, families and friends. 1 Samuel 1:27-28 (NIV) – “’I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.’ And he worshiped the Lord there.” Luke 2:22-24 (NIV) – “When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took (Jesus) to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, ‘Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord’), and to offer a sacrifice in the Law of the Lord.” Deuteronomy 6:5-9 (NIV) – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

YOUR COMMITMENT AS PARENTS
Your willingness to have your child(ren) dedicated back to God is an affirmation of your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. By participating in the baby dedication service, you agree to the following commitments: You acknowledge that your child is a gift from God. You commit to love God with your heart, soul, strength, and mind in every season of your life. You will endeavour to make Christ and the Christian faith central in your life, so that your child will grow up experiencing life in a Christ-like environment. You will take responsibility for the spiritual formation of your family, through prayer, faith conversations, and Bible readings at home. You will take the initiative to ensure that your child will have opportunities to express faith in Christ for salvation. You welcome your church family to come alongside you, to pray for you, and to speak into your life and that of your children, with the desire to see you mature and grow in your faith in Jesus Christ.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE SERVICE?
Arrival Time Please arrive 20 minutes prior to the service for a brief orientation, and to review the order of service. If you are not able to be there in time for the orientation, please email kids@porticocanada.ca so we can schedule your child’s dedication for another date. Reserved Seating Seats will be reserved at the front of the Worship Centre, for the mother, father, and siblings of the child being dedicated. Extended family members and friends are encouraged to reserve their own seats prior to the service. During the Service You will be seated in the order that you will be standing in front of the congregation. Please be ready as a family to move to the front, as directed. Each family will be introduced, then the officiating pastor will bless the child(ren) being dedicated, and will ask the congregation to stand and join you in prayer, before you return to your seats. Once the baby dedication ceremony is complete, the service will continue. Please encourage your guests to be respectful of the remainder of our service.
