Intro Introduction ONE CHURCH IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS In the 2010s, PORTICO Community Church expanded from one church location to five campuses, welcoming skeptics, the curious, seekers and the convinced followers of Jesus Christ from Milton, Streetsville, Brampton, and neighbouring communities. As those who gathered to worship increased steadily in number, the addition of PORTICO Online spread God’s word beyond Sunday mornings and city limits. God’s continued faithfulness and desire to grow His Church saw to the start of new ministries and through them, new opportunities to spread God’s love to the world.

“I think any church that acknowledges people’s giftings and looks to encourage people to use those gifts is so vitally important. That’s one thing we’ve appreciated about PORTICO, that when you have a gift and ask to use that gift, there is always a willingness to say, ‘Yes, please go ahead and use it. We will come alongside and mentor, we’ll encourage and support that opportunity.” - Paul Woodley

2010 PORTICO continued fostering close community throughout the Mississauga area through hospitality, connecting ministries, children’s ministries, and small groups. People from all backgrounds and cultures were welcomed, and diversity grew throughout the church.

I have had the privilege of being co-leader of a small group for the last six years. It’s been an awesome time journeying with close friends throughout those years.”

I think the multiculturalism in PORTICO is to be celebrated. That was one of the reasons I stayed coming here. PORTICO is very multicultural, very diverse. If you come to one of our Foods of the World events, you can see the diversity and the different cultures.”

We embed ourselves in the community and reach our community. Part of our vision was to become a multi-campus church. In 2011, we looked at Milton, realized it was booming, and made the decision to announce Milton as our next target location. With that, we invited people to prayerfully consider to join us on an adventure.” – Pastor Doug Rhind

2012 PORTICO Milton signed a long-term lease agreement with Milton Christian School, which enabled the campus to move into a more permanent meeting space. PORTICO officially launched their second campus in November: PORTICO Español. This Spanishspeaking campus led by Pastor Ervis and Tamara Duardo was founded upon the small remnant of faithful believers who were formerly part of Emmanuel Church.

We realized that the one way of growing is through campuses.” – Dave and Ruth Croft

2018 PORTICO launched its fifth campus in April, a merger with Discovery Church (DC3) in Mississauga. In September, the new campus relocated to Brampton, ON.

In 2018, we started our Brampton campus. We sent a group of people up as our launch team and on our first Sunday we had over 200 people show up. We were so excited that God gave us that opportunity to step into the community.” – Pastor Doug Rhind

2019 & beyond PORTICO’s future has never looked brighter! Fueled by the mission of helping people find their way back to God, PORTICO envisions new campuses being strategically launched in neighbourhoods and communities, enabling family, friends, neighbours, and co-workers to personally encounter God’s life-changing grace. Together in Christ, we are One Church, One Message, Many Expressions.

I’m happy that we can raise our baby in this church because we feel very well supported. I want her to be involved as a kid, youth, and teenager. Here is where we want to plant our roots. What better place to raise a child than here at PORTICO.” – Mark and Hanna Pingal
