Is your mind alive with stories of great adventures? Dragons? Cats who talk? Monsters? Triumph over bullying? Aliens? Join us every week to explore the limits of your own storytelling imagination. With a group of other young writers, you will play with words, build characters, craft plot, and discover how to draw the reader into a gripping narrative. The possibilities of your story are as limitless as you are. Find out where words can take you!

Writing About Grief

Age 18 & up

Writing can be used as a powerful tool to transform grief and loss. This class offers the opportunity to explore loss through story and connect with other grievers in a kind and supportive group setting. Through guided writing prompts, poetry, letter writing, and journaling, we will carve out time to honor our departed and focus on nurturing our personal voice. All are welcome, no writing experience necessary.

Writing Short Stories

Engage in the craft of writing poetry as you give form and focus to expression through words. Suitable for all levels. Explore poetry through weekly prompts and writing exercises. Literary Arts Workshop—Poetry Revision

Age 13 & up

Do you have poems stuffed away in a desk drawer or notebook that you want to learn how to revise and improve? In this workshop, writers will explore techniques for revising and workshopping their own poetry. Through readings and in-class discussions, students will discuss their works and receive instruction on the revision process in a friendly and supportive environment that is welcoming of all voices. This class is for all levels. Students should bring two typed drafts to each class.
