Students will learn the skills necessary to create their own centrifugal castings. We will learn how to carve and manipulate wax, make silicone molds to create multiples, and clean up your castings. Create models with a variety of additive and subtractive waxes to produce a piece of custom cast jewelry or small sculpture. Skills studied include: spruing, investing, burnout, and finishing. Prerequisite: Jewelry/Metalsmithing I or equivalent experience. Class price includes a materials fee of $50 which is non-refundable after class begins. *No class 5/25

Color Filled Enameled Earrings

Make a pair of silver earrings, adorned with gorgeous glass enamels using the cloisonne technique. Using fine silver sheet as our base, create your own line drawing that will be transformed into a wire design applied to the metal surface. From here, learn to apply delicate layers of colorful powdered glass enamels to your design, which are fired in a kiln to fuse the glass to metal. The results are luminous, transparent layers of glass. Workshop includes all materials and instruction from start to finish. No experience required. Class price includes materials fee of $60. After first class, this fee is non-refundable. Open studio is not included for this class.

Do you love bright and colorful jewelry? Learn how to use wool needle felting techniques to incorporate into your jewelry. Students will explore creating small-felted objects. Afterwards students will create unique one-of-a-kind pieces by learning basic connections including brooch and earring mechanisms connected to their felt. No prerequisite. Price includes a studio and materials fee of $40 which is nonrefundable after class begins. Open studio is not included for this class.

Soldering Intensive
Age 16 & up
Frustrated with a soldering project? Can’t get the solder to flow, or find your metal melted into a puddle? Struggle no more, as we will take a deep dive into successful soldering for all your metals projects! Review the essentials of working with the torch, using various soldering tools and accessories, then dive into an assortment of soldering approaches, including sweat soldering, pick soldering, stick soldering and more. Bring in your challenging soldering projects and learn tips and tricks from preparing your metal parts, choosing the right flux and solder, how to ‘hold’ parts together to solder cleanup steps. All levels of experience welcome. Class price includes a studio and materials fee of $50. After class begins, these fees are non-refundable. Open studio is not included for this class.
