LAST MATCH RECAP Making their first-ever trip to Avaya Stadium, the Timbers recorded their ninth shutout of the season – tied for the most in MLS – to claim a point on the road in a scoreless draw against the San Jose Earthquakes on Aug. 2 in front of 18,000 fans in San Jose, Calif. The Timbers held a 10-5 edge in shots in the second half as forward Fanendo Adi unleashed a powerful shot from close range less than two minutes into the half that rattled the inside of the left post after receiving a pass from midfielder Diego Valeri. Later in the second half, Valeri saw a penalty kick ricochet off the crossbar.
Providence Park opened on April 14, 2011, in front of a sold-out crowd in the Timbers first-ever home match as an MLS team. The club proceeded to sell out all of its regular-season home games in the team’s first four MLS seasons. Spanning the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the Timbers compiled an MLS-club record 22-game unbeaten streak (12-0-10) at Providence Park from April 6, 2013 to June 1, 2014. The streak ranks as the third-longest all-time in MLS history.
