LAST MATCH RECAP In their second match of the 2017 MLS regular season, the Portland Timbers secured their first away win of the season, defeating the LA Galaxy 1-0 before 20,982 fans at the StubHub Center on March 12. Portland’s win against the Galaxy marks its strongest start to a season in the club’s MLS era, with the Timbers picking up six points through their first two regular-season games. Midfielder Diego Chara scored for Portland, recording his first goal in 2017.
Providence Park opened on April 14, 2011, in front of a sold-out crowd in the Timbers first-ever home match as an MLS team. The club proceeded to sell out all of its regular-season home games in the team’s first six MLS seasons. Spanning the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the Timbers compiled an MLS-club record 22-game unbeaten streak (12-0-10) at Providence Park from April 6, 2013 to June 1, 2014. The streak ranks as the third-longest all-time in MLS history.
