LAST MATCH RECAP Despite a strong second-half performance, the Timbers could not overcome an early goal against the run of play in a 1-0 road loss against Toronto FC in front of 23,569 fans at BMO Field on Saturday evening. Following an early effort from inside the penalty box by Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri that was saved, Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco provided the game’s only goal with a left-footed drive from distance that narrowly beat the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey in the fifth minute.
Providence Park opened on April 14, 2011, in front of a sold-out crowd in the Timbers first-ever home match as an MLS team. The club proceeded to sell out all of its regular-season home games in the team’s first four MLS seasons. Spanning the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the Timbers compiled an MLS-club record 22-game unbeaten streak (12-0-10) at Providence Park from April 6, 2013 to June 1, 2014. The streak ranks as the third-longest all-time in MLS history.
