NO PLACE LIKE HOME LAST MATCH RECAP The Timbers conceded just three shots on goal, while earning 60 percent of the possession and seeing a late-effort strike the right post in a scoreless draw against Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinals in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs in front of a sellout crowd of 21,144 fans at Providence Park on Nov. 1. On short rest, the Timbers recorded the majority of the possession against the conference No. 2 seed Whitecaps FC side that last played on Oct. 25. Keeping Vancouver off the scoreboard in the first half, Portland was the aggressor in the final 45 minutes, outshooting Whitecaps FC 7-2 in the second half.
Providence Park opened on April 14, 2011, in front of a sold-out crowd in the Timbers first-ever home match as an MLS team. The club proceeded to sell out all of its regular-season home games in the team’s first four MLS seasons. Spanning the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the Timbers compiled an MLS-club record 22-game unbeaten streak (12-0-10) at Providence Park from April 6, 2013 to June 1, 2014. The streak ranks as the third-longest all-time in MLS history.
