LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER

W

elcome to PotSaver’s premier publication of 2018! Originally launched in 2016, PotSaver’s primary goal was to bring the same value and information to local consumers that the old California classic, Pennysaver, delivered to multiple generations, but with one very unique twist…PotSaver would focus on the emerging medical and recreational cannabis market space. Since the initial launch, PotSaver has grown into San Diego’s largest circulated cannabis coupon publication, helping connect consumers with the best hyper-local deals available, while also providing them up-to-the-minute information about the ever-changing local cannabis market. And through the success and growth of PotSaver, we realized that we’ve not only created a publication that is valuable to both consumers and retailers throughout San Diego, but that we have also created a community of individuals and businesses who all share a responsible passion for cannabis and the city of San Diego. As we strive to remain the leader in delivering value to retailers and consumers throughout the communities we serve, we’re taking the initiative to expand our advertising verticals beyond cannabis. The sole objective of doing this is to become an even more valuable resource to our growing community. As such, in 2018 you’ll see that PotSaver will expand its market reach to the fantastic and diverse worlds of Farmers Markets, Breweries, Music Venues, Restaurants, and other retail-driven businesses that San Diego County has to offer! I would like to send a very special thank you out to all of the wonderful contributors and businesses who helped bring this publication together, as well as everyone who has taken the time to pick it up at any of distribution points. It’s my sincerest hope that you’ll appreciate the plethora of valuable information and discounts that this publication provides and that you’ll continue to count on PotSaver as being a trusted resource for not only cannabis, but everything that makes San Diego great! All my best,

Aaron Adler

PotSaver Tribune January, 1 2018 st

PROHIBITION IS OVER!

1. When did the new regulations take effect? January 1, 2018 2. Now that Prop 64 is officially in effect, what’s changed? Citizens of California, as long as they are 21 years of age or older, may now privately consume cannabis legally. If you meet this requirement, you can have up to 28.5 grams of flower and up to 8 grams of concentrated cannabis. 3. So, what is still considered a “no-no” for cannabis use? You still cannot smoke cannabis in public places. Yes, this includes your vehicle. Speaking of your vehicle, it is also still illegal to operate one while under the influence of cannabis. You cannot bring cannabis within 1,000 feet of a school, day care, youth center, or any public place for children. 4. Can I take my cannabis on an airplane? 6 | PotSaver.net NO. Cannabis is NOT allowed to cross state lines at

all. From the seed all the way to the sale, cannabis is required to stay in the state it is intended to be used in. There are still federal regulations In place. 5. What is the new taxation associated with cannabis? There’s a 15% excise tax on cannabis products at the stores. See page 16 for cannabis taxes and savings. 7. Can I grow my own cannabis plants? The law now states that there can be up to six cannabis plants grown per household. Any cannabis cultivated from these plants is free to be stored in the private residence without fear of disruption. 8. Can I sell or give any of my cannabis to my neighbors now? You cannot sell any cannabis products without a specific license. You may, however, share up to an ounce of flower with your neighbor for free. Gifting cannabis used to actually be considered a misdemeanor with a $100 fine attached.

9. Is big business going to take over the industry and push the “little guys” out? Not for a while. Large, commercial grows that are 22,000sq. ft (indoor) or an acre (outdoor) are banned under the new law until at 2023. It is essentially designed to allow entrepreneurs to get their footing down. 10. How is it even considered “legal” if there are still laws against cannabis? It is legalized, but just as alcohol went through after it’s prohibition era ended, cannabis will go through some growing pains too. Laws also dictate what age a person can legally drink, how much they can consume in public, and whether or not they can drive a vehicle after drinking alcohol. Cannabis will slowly but surely become more normalized, just as alcohol did. 11. If I have a cannabis charge on my record, can I get that taken off now? If you were charged with a crime that was illegal at the time, but is legal now, you are able to apply to get it expunged from your record. 12. What’s the damage if I get caught smoking weed in a no-smoking zone? The fine for this was once $100. Since Prop. 64 passed, it has increased to $250. 13. What does this mean for Medical Prop 215 Patients? Remaining a medical cannabis patient in 2018 allows significant benefits recreational users will not be allotted. Not only is there a lower age limit for medical patients, but it guarantees consistent prices and quality. It gives you an imaginary barrier from being harassed by law enforcement and is excluded from some of the cannabis taxes, allowing patients to save money on their purchases. To receive these benefits, you now are required to have both a doctor’s recommendation and a state card.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO TO THE DISPO Q. WHEN CAN I MAKE MY FIRST RECREATIONAL DISPENSARY TRIP? AS OF JANUARY 1, 2018, ANYONE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER! Q. WHAT DO I NEED TO GET INTO A DISPENSARY? WELL, IT DEPENDS. YOU STILL HAVE TO BE A MINIMUM OF 18 YEARS OLD. AGES 18, 19, AND 20 STILL REQUIRE A MEDICAL CANNABIS RECOMMENDATION IN ORDER TO EVEN ENTER A DISPENSARY. NOW THAT CANNABIS IS RECREATIONALLY LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA, ALL YOU NEED IS A VALID ID IF YOU ARE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO GAIN ACCESS. Q. HOW CAN I LOCATE THE BEST DISPENSARY FOR ME? YOU CAN ACTUALLY USE THE

22 | PotSaver.net

POTSAVER MAGAZINE & WEBSITE TO BROWSE THROUGH DEALS EXCLUSIVELY SET UP THROUGH POTSAVER AT VARIOUS DISPENSARIES. THERE ARE ALSO OTHER APPLICATIONS THAT CAN BE USED THAT INCLUDE CONSUMER RATINGS AND WRITTEN REVIEWS! AND THE BEAUTY OF IT IS… YOU DON’T HAVE TO COMMIT TO JUST ONE. YOU CAN TRY OUT VARIOUS LOCATIONS UNTIL YOU FIND THE PERFECT MATCH. Q. DO DISPENSARIES ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS? SOME DISPENSARIES MAY ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS, BUT THEY ARE FAR AND FEW BETWEEN. IT IS ALWAYS A SAFE BET TO MAKE

SURE YOU HAVE A DECENT AMOUNT OF CASH ON YOU BEFORE YOU GO. Q. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CANNABIS STRAINS & THEIR DIFFERENCES? SATIVA STRAINS ARE MORE OF A “HEAD HIGH.” THEY ARE NOT TOO HEAVY AND DESCRIBED AS A “DAYTIME STRAIN.” INDICA STRAINS ARE A “BODY HIGH” AND COMMONLY ASSOCIATED WITH SLEEPINESS, MUNCHIES AND “COUCHLOCK”. THEY ARE DESCRIBED AS “NIGHTTIME STRAINS”. HYRBRIDS ARE, OF COURSE, A HAPPY-MEDIUM BETWEEN THE TWO AND DESCRIBED AS “ANYTIME STRAINS”.

Q.WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THC AND CBD? THC IS THE CANNABIS COMPOUND THAT CREATES A PSYCHOACTIVE EFFECT AND BINDS PERFECTLY WITH OUR INTERNAL CB1 RECEPTORS IN OUR ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM. CBD IS NOT A PERFECT MATCH TO THE CB1 RECEPTORS; THEREFORE, IT LACKS THE PSYCHOACTIVE EFFECT. BUT IT IS STILL HIGHLY ADMIRED FOR ITS WIDE RANGE OF MEDICINAL BENEFITS. Q. BEFORE I CHOOSE MY PRODUCT, HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT POTENCY SUITS ME? ALWAYS CONSULT AND BE TRANSPARENT WITH YOUR BUDTENDERS, AS THEY WILL BE THE BEST GUIDE FOR YOU. IT IS ALWAYS RECOMMENDED TO START SMALL AND BUILD YOUR WAY UP, ALLOWING TIME FOR THE EFFECTS TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE UPPING THE DOSAGE. Q. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN PURCHASE IN CASE I MISTAKENLY OVER-MEDICATE? YES! IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT EVERYONE’S BODY HAS ITS OWN INDIVIDUAL GENETIC MAKEUP; THEREFORE, THE BODY CAN RESPOND TO CANNABIS IN NUMEROUS WAYS. IF YOU FEEL OVERLY ANXIOUS AND PARANOID, TAKE CBD. EITHER A CBD DOMINANT EDIBLE OR CBD DOMINANT TINCTURE WILL DO THE TRICK EVERY TIME. CBD ACTUALLY COUNTERACTS THE PSYCHOACTIVE EFFECTS OF THC AND WILL LEVEL YOU OUT, IF NEEDED. Q. WHAT TYPE OF PRODUCTS CAN I EXPECT TO SEE AT A DISPENSARY? DISPENSARIES CARRY A LARGE VARIETY OF PRODUCTS, AND THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS: FLOWER, PRE-ROLLS, CONCENTRATES, EDIBLES, TOPICALS, TINCTURES, CARTRIDGES, AND EVEN ACCESSORIES! Q. WHAT ARE CONCENTRATES? THINK “ESSENTIAL OILS.” CONCENTRATES ARE ESSENTIALLY ALL OF THE MEDICINALLY BENEFICIAL COMPONENTS OF THE CANNABIS PLANT EXTRACTED AND MADE INTO SOME VARIATION OF A WAXY CONSISTENCY. THERE ARE VARIOUS EXTRACTION METHODS USED, SO BE SURE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH IN ORDER TO FIND THE SAFEST BRANDS. THESE CAN BE CONSUMED THROUGH DABBING, VAPING, THROUGH CAPSULES AND THROUGH TINCTURES. Q. ARE EDIBLES SAFE? EDIBLES BECOME UNSAFE WHEN THEY ARE INGESTED IRRESPONSIBLY. THEY CAN BE EXTREMELY POTENT TO SOME, AND HAVE LITTLE TO NO EFFECT FOR OTHERS. AGAIN, THE EFFECT AN EDIBLE HAS ON YOU DEPENDS ON THE WAY YOUR BODY RESPONDS. YOU CAN ALWAYS EAT MORE, BUT YOU CANNOT EAT LESS… IF YOU HAPPEN TO MISTAKENLY OVER-MEDICATE, USE SOME CBD. #potsaver | 23

from. Using only full-spectrum cannabis plants, the products Traveling Hands uses are clean with no pesticides and no artificial growth products. Their carrier oil of choice is organic coconut oil, as Smith says it is able to deliver the most cannabinoids on a medicinal level.

How Can They Help? Serving all of Southern California with the goal to be nationwide, Traveling Hands provides relief for a wide range of ailments and conditions. From people struggling with migraines, all the way to someone who suffers from a traumatic brain injury… There are few things, if any, you will find that massage therapy cannot provide some level of relief for.

The Deal of all Deals! We all have those family members whose gifting style is “quick and easy.” I know I do… That’s why I have a couple massage gift certificates to those somewhat decent massage shops in the mall. Are you ever really going to make time to use them? I know that even if I really wanted to, it’d be hard for me to even find the time to drive to the mall, let alone get massaged for an hour. The struggle.

T

here are very few things that I love more than cannabis… So, when I had the opportunity to experience a cannabis-infused massage, courtesy of a professional massage therapist, in my own home… I couldn’t resist. While this cannabis-infused massage will not leave you with the psychoactive, euphoric high you may expect, it’ll still leave you feeling like you’re on cloud 9 by the time your massage therapist is through.

A Man on a Mission While Traveling Hands: CannabisInfused Massage Therapy may be a newer name to the game, it’s owner, Zac Smith, is not. He has been perfecting his craft for the past 20 years and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Smith has learned a lot about the Spa Industry by starting from the very bottom and working up all the way to having his own family-owned business. 34 | PotSaver.net

Traveling Hands’ Beginning You may be wondering when cannabis became incorporated in this picture… Well, Smith had an unfortunate accident that led him to be unable to work for two whole months! Finally fed up with the continued limitations Smith endured, he tried out a cannabisinfused topical gifted to him by a friend. Within six weeks, Smith felt a relief that had become foreign to him and he knew exactly what he needed to do next... Share his new-found knowledge with the world! And thus, Traveling Hands: Cannabis-Infused Massage Therapy was born.

Quality is Key Smith is able to guarantee the quality of the cannabis-infused products they carry because he knows exactly where it’s sourced

Traveling Hands gets it, so they’re coming in clutch with a really awesome deal! For your first appointment, you can swap out any of those gift certificates and receive a cannabis-infused massage. And the best part is, they come to you! Whether you are at home, stuck at the office, or staying at a hotel, Traveling Hands will be there.

Teffy’s Thoughts Personally, I have a large amount of daily stress in my life. Because of this, I frequently have lower back pain, migraines, and tightness in my shoulders/neck. No matter how much I stretch, I can never seem to stretch enough for the pain and tightness to fully subside. After I received the massage, I immediately realized that I felt absolutely no discomfort. This relief continued for several days and I can honestly say, that’s been the longest timeframe I consistently felt “normal” in years. Traveling Hands may just have a new regular client.

Owner: Zac Smith
