Dear All Its been a busy summer for Power Electrics and it was all rounded of by the excellent 50th anniversary party at the Passenger Shed in Bristol. There will be many stories from that night which would never be allowed to make it into the staff newsletter, although hopefully some of the less drunk images from page 5 will act as a good reminder of the night. As the year starts to come to a close, its been a special one for Power Electrics with excellent financial success to mark 50 years in the industry of diesel generators. To mark the special anniversary Sarah Hurley made the cake below with her masterchef baking skills.

Investment in Transport In the past five years there has been a huge increase in the fleet of Power Electrics HGV’s from 15 to 20 along with an increase of the 4x4 vehicles from 3 to 6. Although the numbers in themselves might not be big, the investment in terms of cost is massive when you consider that a new hiab wagon and drag is approximately £150,000. All the vehicles are fully tracked and equipped in accordance with ADR regulations to allow for the transport of hazardous goods. The vehicles are maintained in house and as a result of these increases we have employed an additional fitter and an apprentice, along with continuing to invest in our vehicle service facilities and equipment. In order to operate these additional vehicles, we have employed an additional 10 drivers in the past five year with the current number standing at 23.

All new drivers require specialist training and all new starters have been fully trained and certified as Lorry Loader (Hiab) operators and are ARD certified. Legislation introduced within the past five years has also required us to provide annual driver’s CPC training for all of our drivers. In order to support the increasing burden of legislation and operational planning, the Transport office staff numbers have been increased from 2 to 3.

Marketing Updates Showmans Show For once, the sun shone on the Showmans Show at Newbury Showground this October. To celebrate the fact we are 50 years old this year, a brand new structure was erected to modernise the stand at this years show. On the stand was two 200kVA Synchronising units, one 100kVA Fasttow along with a couple of linklights and distribution. With a team of sales people on hand to talk to existing and potential customers in the events market.

Showmans Show always presents itself to be a perfect show to introduce new equipment, meet suppliers, customers and find out what is going on with competitors within the marketplace. As Power Electrics are involved in many major events around the UK, the show is ideal to attract new business within the events market. Along with Showmans Show, Power Electrics were also Exhibiting at the Water, Sewerage and Waste Exhibition in Birmingham at the same time. If you would like to find out more about exhibitions that Power Electrics are involved with please visit the marketing section of the intranet or feel free to talk to the Marketing Department.
