As we race towards the finish line of what we must do, before saying goodbye to one of the most challenging year in the history of man. It's important for us to stop and give thanks for making it this far. Covid-19 had been a leveller in every aspect of life. We are grateful to Almighty for showing us mercy and for granting us grace to keep delivering life transforming publication on a monthly basis.
We will be launching our sister publication (Powerhouse Global Stars) in the coming month. We have decided to separate our work to enable us to focus on delivering quality services. While Pgmag will focus on showcasing the brilliance of global leaders through interviews (giving a voice/ playground), Pgs will focus on profiling of leaders (Bio, photos and links). discipline, I gave that. If he needed a listening ear, I offered that.
SM: I appreciate the opportunity. Thank you for having me.
Above all, I provided love. It was unconditional, sprinkled with a little tough love. He always had both.
PGMAG: Wow! You are one Powerhouse mama on a mission. Please share with our readers who you are, and the value you bring to the world. SM: I am Stacia Mac and I wear many hats. I’m an entertainment manager for rap artist Polo G, who also happens to be my son. I am also an entrepreneur and author, and newly VP of ODA/Capalot Record label. My greatest accomplishment is mothering four amazing human beings who’ll undoubtedly change the world. PGMAG: I call you a 'Powerhouse Mama' because that's who you are. You have raised and mentored a global superstar (POLO G), and I salute you for stepping up to change the narrative of what some would have deemed: Difficult. What are some of the keys you used to raise your son? SM: I gave him what he needed at the time he needed it. If he needed information to make an informed decision, I provided that. If he needed
PGMAG: You moved three steps (Mother - Mentor - Mogul) to become this global influencer. What was one of the toughest decision you had to make in order to move forward in life? SM: I had to let go of resistance. In the role I am currently in, I always have to balance being a mother with a business person. Ultimately, it was my genuine trust and faith in my son that allowed me to lean into that faith and believe in the outcome. Initially there was a nervousness, as my entire family was depending on my success. Failure was not an option. When I released resistance and self-doubt, I soared. PGMAG: Your Superstar son (POLO G) debut album 'Die A Legend' has been certified 'Platinum', and has accumulated '1 Billion' collective streams to date. This is a huge achievement for a young man. As his manager, what is your message for mothers out there in the world who are struggling to raise their kids?

SM: I encourage all parents to embolden their children. Support their dreams, advocate for them and offer continued positive reinforcement. The return on investment is priceless. PGMAG: October is 'Black History' month. As a global influencer, what should leaders in the 'Black' community be doing in order to become key players in the marketplace? SM: I encourage all to focus on their communities year round and not at a designated time i.e. October. I highly reinforce all to stimulate their communities with finance, or knowledge, or any way they are able to give back. PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently? SM: Everything is as it should be. I wouldn’t change a thing. Each chapter is a new direction and even when it’s scary and you don’t know the end result, when you believe, all will ultimately be right. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self? SM: I’d say, “Self, (laughs), You are influential. You have

JOHNY PACH (JP) BRITISH TV HOST
Interview was conducted by:
JULES LAVALLEE
(International journalist)
PGMAG: You have interviewed the likes of Angelina Jolie, Chris Pratt, Daniel Radcliffe, David Hasselhoff, Corey Feldman, Ed Sheeran, Will I AM, Tom Jones, and other Hollywood A-listers on the red carpet, why do celebs resonate to you so much? JP: One of the reasons that I connect so well with celebrities is because I keep things real. I always try my best to consider the feelings of my interviewee, which is why I’m always friendly, enthusiastic, and warming. When I’m on the red carpet, I always try to make celebrities feel at ease. Whether it’s through a friendly greeting or a few nice compliments, I do whatever I can to make things run smoothly. I never fail to bring energy to the red carpet, and constantly have

a smile on my face. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that celebrities love to talk about themselves, so I’m always certain to ask questions that’ll make the celebrity happy! I’d like to think that these attributes allow celebrities to enjoy their interview experience with me! PGMAG: What techniques do you use when interviewing celebs on the red carpet? JP: First and foremost, I try to ask really engaging questions. By the time a celebrity comes to your interview, they’ve probably heard the same questions again and again. That is why it is essential to have original, thought-provoking, and engaging questions. On top of this, I always try to make a

celebrity feel relaxed around me. The key to getting a good interview is creating trust with your interviewee, so I aim to gain a celeb’s trust by making them feel comfortable and relaxed. Finally, I always try to be happy on the red carpet. I look my guest in the eyes, get them to engage with the viewers, and bring an aura of happiness. PGMAG: As a Celebrity Host, share a few mind-blowing interviews. JP: Over my career, I’ve had quite a few mind-blowing interviews. There are, however, two that stick out. The first of the two was an interview with James Hong. I think it is fair to say that I got a bit starstruck when interviewing James at the

Second, on the list is my interview with Angelina Jolie. At the time, Angelina was promoting a film that she had a role in. She was supposed to talk to a few people from major broadcasters, but the people from those broadcasters just crumbled and couldn’t get their questions out. So, I capitalized
on the situation and got a really great interview with Angelina, whilst my competitors were unable to do so. That will forever be a great memory! The show was on SKY, and showed me at film premieres interviewing A-listers. totally in my element when I was filming the show, and it was really fun to be involved with it as a producer, as well as a host. As for The Spin on EDMTV, I spent a lot of time in a studio in North Hollywood. I spent most of my time interviewing the top names within house music and the EDM scene, which was an amazing experience. I spoke a lot about music, festivals, DJs, and more. The fact that it was a studio-based show was great, because it presented me with a different challenge. I was able to work with producers, with an earpiece in, and with an autocue, so it was all really

awesome for me! PGMAG: Your recent opportunity is to host the show, “America’s Next Investment” with VC Media in LA. What excites you the most? JP: I am really excited to host ANI, a show has large similarities to NBC’s “Shark Tank”, it is a platform designed to spread awareness and to help raise investment for the world’s most innovative business ideas. PGMAG: What do you enjoy most about the entertainment business? JP: For me, I love how creative the entertainment business can be. There are so many chances to be creative within the industry, as an actor, presenter, or director, for example. This means that you are always creating content, which is something I love. This might sound clichĂŠ, but I also love the glitz and glamour associated with the entertainment industry. I love how extravagant events can be, and how inventive people are behind the scenes. It gives you a real buzz to be in such a magnificent environment! Lastly, I love the fact that you can meet so many incredible people. Everyone is so amazing! PGMAG: Do you prepare differently for a red carpet versus a film festival or fashion show? JP: Put simply, yes. For a red-carpet film premiere, knowledge is really important. You need to know EVERYTHING about the film, which requires lots
of research. This allows you to have in-depth interviews with celebrities. Also, at a film premiere, it is always best to try to get behind the scenes information. Also, at a film premiere, it is always best to try to get behind the scenes information. When it comes to fashion shows or festivals, you still need to do research, but this time into the fashion industry. You’ll want to know about designers and their work. The major difference with a fashion show, however, is that you want to spend more time researching the event itself. This is important because it will affect your presenting style, so that you can engage with your audience as best as possible. PGMAG: What are you most proud of during your 15-year career in the entertainment industry?

JP: I am most proud of initially making it to Hollywood. There are so many British Presenters who dream about making it to Hollywood, but it is really tough. The fact that I made it a reality was so pleasing. It all started as a vision board for me, and eventually, I made it all happen through hosting the House of Ikons event, which led to me being picked up by SKY. I was lucky to get the

opportunity, but I definitely think I created the luck in this case by being so passionate. PGMAG: Which celebs do you believe are the most influential? Who would you love to interview? JP: Personally speaking, I’d love to interview Jim Carey because he is one of my favorite actors. His spiritual side really interests me too, so I’d love to talk to him about spiritualism and life in general. I also really like Michael J. Fox. great reviews from magazines such as “The Hollywood Times”, “Voyage LA”and “Corporate Vision Magazine”. With the show, I was keen to interview figures from all walks of life – entrepreneurs, spiritual leaders, TV personalities, real estate agents, and more – to really inspire people during these challenging times. It’s hard to pick one specific interview because all the interviews have been amazing in their own right. The show is getting bigger and bigger, we have some incredible high profile guests booked in over the next few months and you can access the show on itunes, stitcher, spotify, youtube and my website www.johnypach.com/ podcast.
PGMAG: Tell us about your new podcast “The Johny Pach Show.” Who have you enjoyed interviewing the most?
PGMAG: What would people be surprised to know about you?

top of this, I always meditate twice daily, in order to reset my mind and put it at peace. It is really important for me to have my mind at ease, because I am so busy these days! Finally, I love to play my handpan drum! PGMAG: Where do you see yourself in 2-years? JP: In two years, I will be living in Los Angeles. I hope to be married by then, with two children, and to have a nice house in the Hollywood Hills. I also want to have a TV Production company, alongside my other businesses. On top of this, I want to be acting in movies, hosting mainstream TV channels, and ultimately living my best life possible!
INTERVIEW WITH:
DOMINIC ONYEKACHI (DO)
Dominic Onyekachi is using the web-based platform Akiddie to feature and share stories with African characters for children. In May, with help from two friends, Fanan and Tolulope, Onyekachi launched Akiddie. The books have been translated to Yoruba language, spoken in West Africa, Hausa language, spoken in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Igbo language, spoken in southeastern Nigeria.
PGMAG: What led you to start your web-based platform Akiddie? DO: Sometime in 2018, my sister asked me to read my then 6-year-old niece a bedtime story.
Interview was conducted by:
JULES LAVALLEE
(International journalist)
I went to her mini library and realized that not only were the stories not representative of her, some had underlying themes I considered not suitable, especially for a 6-year-old girl. The stories were the same I read while growing up, Rapunzel, Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin etc I didn’t see any problems with the story then because I imagined that being a boy, I would grow up to be prince charming who saves the day and gives the princess her happily ever after. But reading the stories again to my niece, something didn’t 13 OCTOBER OCTOBER2020 2020 13

just sit with me that those stories didn’t inspire her to be more than just someone to be rescued and married. Stories could inspire her to be a lot more and I decided I was going to find those stories. Going to the bookshop, I had two things in mind, I wanted to find her stories with characters that looked like her and stories with themes that were modern. That combination sentenced me to a whole day of book searching in the heart of Lagos. After which I ended up with two books. I had planned to get at least 10.

I searched online and found out that a lot of Africans, both home and in the diaspora, shared the same problem. Initially, I thought it was just a problem of having the right content. So, I wrote the first story and I got my friend, Tolu to illustrate it. After I got a lot of positive reviews for the story I discovered that the problem was much more than content. How do we get these kinds of stories in the hands of millions of children all around the world? That was when the idea came to use the internet and harness its incredible
I wrote the first story and I got my friend, Tolu to illustrate it. After I got a lot of positive reviews for the story I discovered that the problem was much more than content.
PGMAG: How important is it for children to identify with their culture? DO: The only thing you can be perfect at is being yourself. Who you are most times, is not defined in isolation, it is defined by decades or even centuries of history and culture that precedes the community you were born in. To be your best self, to express yourself freely, you must be aware of who you are, down to the roots. That is why it is important for children to identify with their culture, learn from it, grow and
propagate it. In Africa, before the modern age, storytelling was an extremely important tool because children were thought about who they were through their stories. That tradition has waned with the fragmentation of tight-knit African societies brought about by urbanization, emigration, colonization and globalization. Akiddie uses technology to reintroduce that tradition of storytelling and of educating children of their culture and history through storytelling. It's beneficial for children of African descent, but like I said earlier, it is also important for the world to get exposed to African stories. PGMAG: Tell us about your background. Have you always been a storyteller? DO: I’m actually in my last year studying information and communications engineering at Covenant University, Nigeria. I had been writing short stories for fun throughout high school days but I never actually thought it was going to play a big part in my future. PGMAG: Your themes include gender equality, innovation, and financial literacy. Do you have a favorite book? Please share a passage that signifies your

It’s an early reader book that tells a young girl all the things she can pursue and live a happy, fulfilled life in a fun, poem like manner. PGMAG: Tell us about "The flying girl of Rano.” DO: The Flying Girl of Rano is a story that talks about Ummi, a girl in a medieval hausa kingdom called Rano. Through pure interest, tinkering, and diligent experimentation, she discovers how to build a glider. Being able to fly in an ancient hausa kingdom immediately made her famous and soon her fame got her noticed by the new evil king that governed

power to democratize access. Even though I wrote the stories to solve an African problem, I felt children all around the world, no matter which countries they might be in would benefit from hearing a new type of story, hopefully, our stories would lead them to appreciate diversity in the world. I partnered with a longterm friend, Fanan, to develop the platform. Using a small investment from my sister, we created the initial collection of 20 books, carefully choosing themes to ensure we told stories that matter. We then bootstrapped the remaining cost from our allowances and launched the platform on May 11, 2020.

Rano. He tried to force a marriage with her but she refused, running off to the hills instead. He blockades her village in retaliation but that would be ineffective, using the help of a few friends, she built a glider that allowed her to fly in supplies at night. She later overthrows the king with the aid of a powerful queen, Amina of Zaria. The story spoke about leadership and using innovation to solve a pressing social need. PGMAG: You have 21 books with 5 free. Where can we find your books?
16 16 OCTOBER OCTOBER2020 2020
DO: The books are currently available at www.akiddie.com. We are working on an android and iOS mobile applications. PGMAG: Six schools in Lagos currently make use of the platform. What is your goal for the future? DO: We plan on growing and expanding to include more schools and families in Africa, with a target of serving 1 million children in three years. We are also exploring how we could harness available technology to create a more immersive storytelling experience for children and improve literacy through a
machine learning-based reader assist that teaches children how to read. We also believe that non-African children can benefit from the diversity in narratives in the stories they read and we are planning to expand into those markets in Europe and the US. PGMAG: Do you plan on introducing new themes? DO: Definitely. There is a multitude of things to educate children about and we want to be at the forefront of using storytelling to achieve that. https://www.akiddie.com/

LAURA TOOP (LP) PGMAG: Laura, welcome to today's interview. LP: Thank-you for inviting me, I am both honoured and humbled to be here. PGMAG: So, talk us through your journey of becoming a 'grief & loss coach'. LP: 5 years ago, my life spectacularly imploded. I lost my husband, my health and my career in quick succession. Indeed, my then 4-year-old nephew said to me, ‘Auntie Lollipops (a.k.a. Me), now that Uncle Chris is dead, you have nothing1” He did quickly follow it up with ‘but I will look
after you for 100 days’. Okay, so if you’re four, 100 days is a long time, but at 42, it wasn’t going to get me much passed March! The world was so spinning so fast around me, my mind was in a washing machine mega spin cycle already, and needed no further pressure from the world beyond. I had to allow myself the time to rest, the space to breathe., and everyone else’s voices be quiet so I could hear my own. I desperately needed to hear my own, and reconnect with who I was and what was important to me now my life had been reduced to nothing. 5,000 miles away, on an island, ironically called ‘The Happy Island’ by the locals, I found that space. &

began to put the pieces of my life together again, in the only way I believed I knew how by creating a plan! “Project Me” was born on that beach, in Aruba, in May 2016. I knew ‘Project Me’, whilst driven by me, would need external help. In the months that followed, I reached out for support to help me with the grief I was experiencing. Initially I reached out to counsellors, unfortunately in my area there were none who specialized in grief, but also, counselling didn’t feel like the right fit for me and what I needed right then. Counselling focuses on the past and our emotions, for me, no amount of focusing on the past was going to change the simple, yet harsh reality that Chris was dead & most definitely not coming back. I needed something different, something that would allow me to focus on what I was going to do about where I found myself now, and what I wanted for my future and would empower me to find the tools within myself to make steps forward and embrace my grief & loss in so doing. I was fortunate, one of the counsellors who I’d gone to see, realized my need was different from what she could offer, and recommended me on to someone else, a therapeutic coach. She wasn’t a grief and loss specialist, but her approach

was the support I needed and felt I had been missing. Through my own experience with my therapeutic coach, I had been inspired to become one myself, in order to help people gain back clarity, rebuild their confidence and get back control with their lives. I was motivated by the gaping hole in the services available to those who have lost and are grieving, so this was the starting point of my becoming a grief & loss coach. I am a firm believer in being able to adapt what I do to be sure I can meet a client where they are at, rather than fit them into a specific box so I have trained in many areas that cross the coaching/ counselling divide, from NLP to Counselling, and CBT to hypnotherapy, for example, all so I can be confident I can offer the very best support at a critically, vulnerable point in another’s life PGMAG: With the current global challenge (covid-19), where a lot of people are struggling to come to terms with their losses. How can your service help some of these people? LP: The current global pandemic has interrupted or, in some cases, stopped completely our familiar patterns of behaviour which made us

For some, of course, these changes have involved the physical loss of loved ones, and normal grieving ‘rituals’ have not been allowed, which has added another layer of intensity to their loss. I can help in a number of ways, most importantly by meeting people where they are at. PGMAG: What are some of the lessons you have learned, whilst helping others to gain control of their emotional health? LP: I have learned many lessons myself, and whilst helping my clients. First and foremost, when the sense of overwhelm is building, stop and take a breath, pushing on through rarely gets us to our destination quicker, and if it does, the results often are not as we had hoped. Alongside this, is taking one step at a time, the skyscraper we have in our minds we feel we must achieve, does not need to be done by tomorrow! Focus on that one step you could do right now that will take you one step closer. It is a marathon not a sprint. To run a marathon, however, it is key to look after our physical health, and to put our own self-care, or as I call it, ‘me time’, at the center of what we do, after all if the heart is
not pumping well, blood will not reach our organs, and we die, we have to look after our heart, ourselves, first, something we so often overlook. PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently? LP: I would have come to learn to love and accept myself sooner, all of me, the good and the not so good, and being ‘perfectly imperfect’, is okay, because I am just like everyone else in the world. Perfect is
unattainable, it doesn’t exist. I would have been kinder on myself, and the expectations I placed on myself, taking more time to enjoy the moment, the richness of life around me, allowing things to unfold naturally rather than to force them to happen, things that were meant for us will not pass us by, so take time to enjoy the journey. PGMAG: What are the top three books that changed your life?

LP: Randy Pausch’s ‘The Last Lecture Lessons in Living’ has particular resonance, as Randy, like my husband died of pancreatic cancer. Randy was a university professor, and it was tradition to give a ‘Last Lecture’ at the end of the year, in which the lecturer would give some thoughts to their students about life beyond university. Randy used this opportunity to leave his legacy to his wife and family and deliver what in fact was his last lecture, on achieving your childhood dreams. He said, ‘we cannot change the cards we are dealt, only how we play the hand’, life is a choice, we get to choose how we live that life, we can be ‘ether Tigger or Eeyore’, I wanted to be Tigger, to live life fully. Brene Brown’s ‘I thought it was just me’, allowed me to begin to embrace ALL of me, and to realize in showing my vulnerability I was stepping forward courageously, and connecting with others in a truly authentic way, which gave me purpose and meaning in my life, people & experiences came into my life that brought me joy & happiness, which truly made me feel alive. I wanted to feel alive, with my inner sunshine shining brightly. Michael Singer’s: ‘The

Untethered Soul’, saw me recognize, fully, the only limits and boundaries in life are the ones we impose on ourselves, therefore it is only ourselves who can set ourselves free. He wrote ‘eventually you will see that the real cause of the problem is not life itself but the commotion the mind makes that really causes the problems’, and I did see, and I found inner peace, and set me free. I wanted to be free, to live beyond boundaries, a limitless life.
PGMAG: What is your message to those who are grieving for the loss of their loved ones? LP: Losing a loved one, is one of the most painful experiences you can have in life, losing them during a global pandemic, with all the restrictions being placed on ‘normal’ grieving rituals and many not being present for their loved ones final hours, my heart goes out to you for the pain you are feeling. Words can rarely offer solace for those who have been
PGMAG: How would you describe 'fear', and what are some of the steps to conquer it? LP: Harriet Lerner, in her book ‘The Dance of Fear’, describes fear as ‘what happens when we learn, from experience it is not safe to think, see, speak and act authentically’, I rather like this description. Fear can stop us in our tracks, prevent us from taking action, but there are some steps we can take to overcome it. Fear magnifies when no action is taken, we don’t need to take big bold steps, just one step forward to what it is we want, the more steps we make, so our courage grows. Yes, our momentum may flag, so find your ‘light leaders’, your ‘A-Team’, you know, those people who inspire you, motivate you, help you figure out & find that first step
and remind you of your own potential & your possibilities. Reach out, too, to the ‘torch bearers’ those who have had similar experiences, for wisdom, for insight and most of all reassurance you are not alone. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self? LP: Have faith in who you are, and what is important to you, focus your energies on the things & people that truly bring you alive, that spark the sunshine within you, rather than trying so hard to meet the expectations of others/society. Do not worry about what others think of you or make comparisons, they will take you off course from what truly brings you joy to your life. Your time is a precious gift there is no rush to get to the end game, enjoy the journey. fill it with things & people who bring you joy & make you feel alive. PGMAG: What motivates you to keep pushing forward in life? LP: My cause, that every voice should be heard. I want to leave this world feeling I have had some, albeit small, impact in making it a better place for my nieces & nephew & the generations who will follow after me. I actively seek to break down barriers that
prevent freedom of voice, as I will not watch on at the pain & the suffering from the isolation & anxiety it creates. I believe, in being heard, we begin to understand, and in being understood, so it is I feel we can truly & authentically connect with one another, with love, kindness, compassion & respect. We all have our challenges, many of them hidden, but treating others as you yourself would like to be treated, is a good start to making this world a happier & more joyful place to live. Because, for me, it is people, in the end, that truly matter in our lives. There is nothing like loss & death to teach you that lesson. PGMAG: Thank you for your time today. We are grateful for your contribution. LP: Thank you for inviting me, I appreciate the opportunity you have given me today. PGMAG: Please share your contact details with our readers. HS: Thank you for inviting me. It is a real honour.
I believe we all deserve to live a life we love and we can only really do that when we have healthy relationships. People-pleasing keeps us in unhealthy relationship behaviours and I am passionate about helping people un-learn people-pleasing patterns so they can say ‘No’ and have the best relationships of their lives. Prior to coaching full-time, I had a 19-year career in Human Resources and Learning and Development and spent over 10 years coaching individuals in the workplace. I have a degree in

Psychology and I am qualified in transformational coaching, mindfulness and mediation. I am an award-winning international speaker and published author. I have also been on my own personal journey of leaving an abusive marriage where I really felt that I had lost myself, unlearning a lot of what I thought I knew about relationships and learning what actually works! I know what it is like to be driven by the ‘disease to please’ and I am so happy to share what I have learnt to break free and transform your relationships, starting with the relationship you have with yourself. PGMAG: I have seen so many professionals who struggled to move careers due to the fear of the unknown. How were you able to successfully transit from Human Resources (HR) to a life coach? HS: It is my soul’s calling to help other women who are suffering from being ‘too nice’ and I believe that is what has pulled me forwards, even on those days of self-doubt or when obstacles set in. A ‘never give up’ attitude is crucial. Allowing myself to grow as a person has also been critical so that I could step into the uncomfortableness of doing
things differently, that would lead me towards success. For example, I used to think I had to do everything on my own – which is impossible and keeps us playing small. I have learnt to ask for help when I need it and to accept the help – which helps me get unstuck and move forward much more quickly. I have also surrounded myself with people who support my

My book is ‘Building Healthy Boundaries – an over-givers guide on when to say Yes and how to say No in relationships’. In it I explain what boundaries are, what poor boundaries and good boundaries look like and the impact of those on your life and relationships. journey. It is incredibly tough going to make a success of your business if you are surrounded by critics, cynics and those who have no interest in what you are doing. Having people in my life I can share my struggles, questions and wins with and who I can support too is motivating and rewarding.
PGMAG: Would you agree that coaching is needed to succeed in any form of mission, and what are some of your experiences regarding this? HS: Most top professionals, from the world of sports to successful entrepreneurs, will have a coach, even if they don’t carry the label of ‘coach’. Coaching and in particular,

transformational coaching, is a catalyst for growth, in any area of life. It helps you get laserfocused on what you want to achieve, set out the steps to get there and then walk with you on that journey. Whilst coaching is valuable in the more well-known areas such as career coaching and business coaching, I believe it creates a space for amazing transformation in our relationships too. I have had coaching for confidence, mindset, business development, profile-building and relationships and I continue to be coached because I know it helps me grow, change and get results.
PGMAG: What are the top three books that changed your life? HS: ‘Feel the fear and do it anyway’ by Susan Jeffers. This book was recommended to me when I was still working in Human Resources and wondering whether to take the leap and become a coach. It helped me take that leap of faith. It is such a rich book, I couldn’t take in all of it’s lessons first time of reading it. I still dip into it from time to time and I regularly recommend or give it away to people! I particularly loved the idea of asking, for each action, does this move me towards pain or power? ‘Women who love too much’ by Robin Norwood could
‘It’s not carpal tunnel syndrome!’ by Suparna Damany, MSPT and Jack Bellis was a lifeline for me when I developed severe repetitive strain injury (RSI) in my hands, wrists, arms and shoulders from overwork and saying ‘Yes’ to every request at work. It was my first wake up call that my physical problems resulted not only from physical matters such as working in one position for hours, ergonomics and posture, but also from my personality and from being a workaholic. It helped me shape a recovery programme for myself and I keep it close by as a reminder to slow down. As Mahatma Gandhi said “There is more to life than increasing its speed”. I started my financial services career 25 years ago out of a passion for helping women gain more confidence in their financial abilities. As a financial advisor I wanted to be an example of what a woman could accomplish when she set her mind to it. I wanted to be an inspiration

to those who struggled to understand their money. That was when I made it my mission to create a warm safe environment where women are encouraged to share their fears and concerns, are inspired to become more engaged in their financial affairs, and empowered to live a financially independent life regardless of the challenges they may face. PGMAG: As a financial planning expert, what should people avoid when planning for their financial future? PA: First and foremost people should avoid delaying and planning for a successful financial future. The women who have a financial plan have achieved the most success with their finances; they no longer worry about running out of money, or having to downgrade their lifestyle in retirement Warren Buffet has been quoted as saying: "I believe a successful retirement rarely happens by accident. It happens by design. Over the years I have seen that the investors who have written plans are the ones most likely to reach their goals. “It’s important to have a plan… an idiot with a plan can beat a genius without a plan” Secondly, people should avoid taking financial advice

from others who are not qualified. I suggest that they seek professional help and be willing to pay for it. Many people don’t want to pay for financial advice because they think that only rich people need a financial advisor. Just think about it, the rich are rich because they know what they don’t know and are willing to pay an advisor to help them achieve all of their financial goals. And lastly, people should avoid negative thinking and questioning their ability to achieve financial abundance. A few ways that they can foster an abundance mindset is by recognizing the power of their thoughts and how they speak to themselves, speak gratitude and forgiveness and recite empowering “I am” and abundance affirmations in the morning and evening. PGMAG: Please touch a bit of light on 'safe money strategies'. PA: As you may recall I mentioned earlier that I help women master the feminine approach to building wealth while having their hearts and minds from worry of the what ifs of life. The what if’s of life are unforeseen threats or events- ones that come out
of nowhere. I am referring to potentially life-altering experiences that you rarely contemplate when everything is working just fine. While not all unexpected events are negative, generally, the big ones that affect your financial future. This possibility of unexpected financial hardship means you may need to change the way you think about preparing how to handle them if they come your way. So what are some of the what ifs of life? What if you get sick or become disabled”? What if your divorce doesn’t end well? What if getting laid off from your job destroyed your stability? What if your spouse died? What if you outlived your money? The safe money strategies that I often refer to as your “lifeboat strategies” are designed to grow, protect and preserve your assets and income. Those strategies include having the proper amount of life, health, disability, long term health care (LTC) and business insurances. If you have these insurances through work, check to see if they are portable- and if they are not consider getting additional coverage on your own. People should understand the terms and details of any

bit on 'Retirement Planning', and why it is important to do so. PA: That’s a great question because many people fail to ask it. And it’s usually because they don’t understand what it entails, so they assume they don’t need it. The retirement planning process starts with aligning your values and goals and making decisions on what actions to take pre-retirement and during retirement.
values are, what’s important to you then we can begin to talk about your goals. Retirement planning and retirement income planning is important because it establishes your retirement budget, based on your income sources which are determined in your financial plan. Your retirement plan also determines the lifestyle you want to have when you decide to slow down and enjoy the fruits of your labor. PGMAG: What is your

message for those women who are struggling with 'low selfesteem'? PA: The way you value yourself has a profound effect on the way you value the material things around you – and in the long term will affect the way you live. Our perception of ourselves has a direct correlation with our net worth, and it also includes how worthy we think we are. If you don't believe you have value and worth then your bank account balance will reflect that. You can’t take care of others if you don’t take care of yourself. Taking care of yourself financially is one of the many ways to ensure you’re okay so you can be there for others — whether it’s taking care of your family, elderly parents, being there for clients or volunteering for your favorite charities. Your true self-worth is up to you. Increase it. Don’t allow your life’s pursuit to be caught up in being all things for everyone else. When you realize your self- worth, you’ll stop giving people discounts.

Women are more connected with the vision they bring into the world, and stay true it. Primarily we serve not because of numbers, statistics and narrow results, we serve because we want to see changes, because we are driven by passion, we want to see transformational results.
PGMAG: What inspired you to create 'Independent Women' platform? VP: Freedom. I saw and still see a lot of women who are limiting themselves on so many levels. Yes, it can be cultural, it can come from the family, pretty often we inherit the mindset of our mothers, grandmothers, etc., as a result, living the life based on the blueprint we’ve got. I am a mother of two daughters and I want that my daughters to live a much better life. Even if I do have a blueprint of my ancestors, I am striving to change it - follow my vision and make it come true, do things despite of fear and limiting believes, invest a lot of resources in personal
development and growth, surround myself with amazing people full of passion and aspirations. It allows me to liberate myself, my creativity, as well as to connect with likeminded people and together build up great projects. I would love to see more and more women who are standing out for themselves, step into their real power and work on building their lives based on their terms. For some it can be financial part, for some spiritual and emotional, for some it is all about the mindset, or it could be all. Imagine a world where people are truly connected to themselves, know exactly what they want, go for it reaching a pure happiness and satisfaction. In this case they are full of energy, much more connected, have much bigger capacity to serve and nurture. PGMAG: How would you describe your style of leadership? VP: For me leadership starts with the self-leadership. Meaning, walk the talk, commit to people with whom I work, to projects that I do, to people whom I serve. It is not easy for me to evaluate what kind of leadership style I have. Normally, I listen what people need, that makes it easier to

deliver the solutions (even though, very often women have no clue of what they want in reality :)) My aspiration is to build independent leaders, women who have their own huge toolbox that they can use at any situation. So, I am focusing on building or expanding my toolbox as well, so in a way lead by example. PGMAG: What is your message for women who are struggling with 'self doubt. And what are some the practical steps to dealing with such a challenge? VP: Self-doubt is part of us. As I mentioned, part of the blueprint we inherited from our grand-grand…ancestors. Even the most confident woman in this world can face a selfdoubt at some point. But it is not about this feeling, it is about how fast you can bring yourself back on track and do not allow a self-sabotage miss opportunities. Procrastinate wit the transformational activities and reach the point where you want to be. The best tool against self-doubt is action! When you “collect” small and big accomplishments it builds your self-confidence. It can start with the small successes. And once you get it you feel the momentum and

know that you can do so much more. The next goal can be bigger and keep you expanding the horizons as well as growing your self-belief. Self-doubt comes from lack of experience as well. So, find the way you can learn and practice. First time can be scary, second will be fine, the next ones will be feeling like you were born for that. PGMAG: What were the top three books that changed your life? VP: “Rich dad, poor dad” by R. Kiyosaki. It changed my world and my thinking. I read this book at the age of 18 and since then I’ve been figuring out how I can build up my financial independence. It allowed me to achieve this goal at the age of 23. “Radical Forgiveness” by C. Tipping. It is a transformational book that I recommend to everyone to read and practice. It frees you up from so many wounds, hardships and pain. It has a power to heal, and emotionally and on a physical level. it can change the quality of your life. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth by T.Harv Eker. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self? VP: Don’t waste time on the mindset of victim. It can be comfortable, it can produce tons of excuses, but the only person who is suffering at the end of the day is you. Life is given to experience it in the best possible way. And what is the best for you - you define. Everything is in your head, heart and hands. PGMAG: Finally, what makes you laugh?

I have been very fortunate to work with some incredibly inspirational leaders who provided me with valuable direction and insight and, above all, have helped me to grow as a person. Professionally, I have spent most of my working life creating tools and processes to align large international Corporations

with their global customer base in the most direct, contractually compliant, and cost-effective ways. I have created the foundation for the businesses to build customer-centricity into their core values and strategic direction, and for businesses to benefit from more productive customer engagements, where discussions centered on growth, and partnering replace managing customer dissatisfaction and escalations. I have a passion for leading by example, treating others equally with respect and understanding, and motivating others to achieve their maximum potential. In turn, I have benefited from their wisdom and success and have made many lifelong friends. Most recently, I was delighted to become a certified Life Coach, and I am excited to discover where this new path will lead me. PGMAG: As a 'Life Coach', what should people be doing in order to become more valuable in the marketplace? SZ: It’s important to invest in yourself. over time, and should in fact be a lifelong process. Make a commitment to improve your value, and be realistic about goals and timelines. Right now is a great time to take advantage of the many special offers on workshops, certification courses and even degree programs. But, before you dive in head-first, take some time to consider your objectives, specifically what
you want to achieve and where you want to end up. If you already have a dream job in mind, I highly recommend you do your research to understand everything about a particular job, role or company. With so many avenues available today to network and link up with other professionals, try to identify someone who already has your dream job, or works for your target company. Reach

out to them and ask them to share their experiences with you. This will help ensure you have the required qualifications and realistic expectations. Perhaps you have a dream job in mind, want to become a subject matter expert, or you simply wish to increase your value in the marketplace. Whichever it is, make sure that before you invest in further education you read the reviews, do your research and be sure to choose a recognized course provider. Even more importantly, ensure you select a course that suits your needs and goals. Make good use of social media. Be an active participate on social media, and choose your platforms wisely. I highly recommend LinkedIn and Twitter. Make sure your profile is professional and current. Identify, connect with and follow people and companies of interest, join the appropriate discussion groups and, where possible, like and comment on relevant posts. Ask questions and get engaged. Even better, start discussions and promote information exchange... sharing your knowledge and obtaining valuable insights from other professionals in your sector. Make your presence known

so others will learn from and gravitate toward you. I recommend you read at least one new business, self-help, and/or motivational book every month, and of course take the opportunity to post about your experience on social media! Share what you learned from the book, and to whom you would recommend it. I bet you will be surprised by how many people will be willing to comment and even offer advice and suggestions on new reading material. Constantly educating yourself and updating your skills provides a very positive message to a potential new employer... it shows you care about your growth and professional development. While taking care of your intellectual needs is paramount in the journey to grow your value in the marketplace, do not forget to take care of your personal health: physical, emotional, social, and spiritual. Holistic self-care is especially important; listen to your body, get sufficient sleep, ample exercise, and good nutrition. Where possible, treat your body to a good dose of sunshine or at least step outside and breathe some

fresh air. A huge must for me is quieting my mind with daily meditation; it’s amazing the resulting clarity of thought I experience, and renewed energy I generate. One last point… Don’t forget to believe in yourself – you’ve got this! PGMAG: As a global influencer, what needs to be done in order to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace? SZ: First we need to recognize that the term “diversity and inclusion” can mean different things in different countries, and we should find ways to
In the USA, there is evidence we have already built some good momentum addressing diversity in recruitment, such as utilizing tools that create a blind system of reviewing resumes so you don’t see “demographic characteristics”, job applications now include diversity questions, and job postings are more carefully worded to ensure gender neutrality. Companies are revising workplace policies and schedules to provide more flexibility, with a greater importance on work/life balance. Making diversity a priority is important; but so is the next logical step: creating a culture where people from all backgrounds feel included. Inclusivity is the key to maintaining diversity in the workplace. In order to do this, successfully companies must humanize diversity and inclusion…. By fostering a

culture where every voice is welcomed, heard, and respected. Through effective employee engagement, companies must discover what diversity and inclusions means to all of their employees. Companies need feedback from their employees to help them determine the changes required to achieve a more diverse, inclusive and content workforce. Companies should ask key questions to ensure
employees feel included, for example, whether the company values and mission statement are understood, and whether the company code of conduct is aligned with the employee’s own core values. Employees must feel free to express themselves based on their unique perspectives, so it is important to make sure there are resources, systems and tools available to provide

different channels for open and honest feedback. It’s also important to ensure employees can offer suggestions and expressing their feelings and concerns without repercussion. Employees feel included when they feel “safe” to voice their concerns and opinions without fear of victimization. The freedom of expression without fear also empowers companies to actively embrace diverse viewpoints. If a company does not understand what diversity and inclusion means to their employees, how can they ensure they are progressing in the right direction? Success in this regard requires input; don’t limit the scope of diversity and inclusion by limiting the employees’ voices. More companies are investing in tools and applications that assist in monitoring diversity and inclusion in the workplace, such as an Affirmative Action Plans (AAP) which enable employers to document their plans to ensure the rights of all persons to advance on the basis of merit and ability, thus promoting lawful actions on the part of an employer while eliminating the effects of discrimination. With the rising popularity and awareness of the need to

embrace, address and change diversity and inclusion in the workplace, more and more resources are being made available to assist companies in their journey. Whatever companies choose to assist them in this evolution, it’s important they ensure they are considering diversity and inclusion in a diverse and inclusive way, making sure inclusion is inclusive!
PGMAG: Please tell us more about 'Voice of the Customer' (VOC) and how important it is for business growth. SZ: The question I ask every business is, “How important are your customers?” It’s fundamental to understand that without customers no business has a sustainable future. So why is it there are still businesses that don’t invest in Voice of the Customer? Or, perhaps worse still, they advertise that they do, but they don’t have a genuine intention, direction, or effort to do so. So, what is Voice of the Customer? VOC is the term we use to describe the process of capturing our customer’s experiences, expectations, preferences and aversions… it provides an unparalleled

So why is it there are still businesses that don’t invest in Voice of the Customer? insight into what customers really want from a supplier and product(s) - articulated by the customer in their own language. VOC data can be organized into a hierarchical structure and prioritized by importance. Having an effective Voice of the Customer (VOC) program to capture customer feedback is essential for the sustained growth, profitability and reputation of your business and, more importantly, to ensure your business remains relevant to your customer base. In these unprecedented times, customers are changing their habits and behaviors and, even more importantly,
VOC is a continuous evolving journey, not just a point in time. When customers share their voice in real time, they expect your business to listen, to take prompt action to effect change, and report back on progress. How your business responds to your customers is integral to their success and to the longevity of the customer/ supplier partnership. With the latest world challenges, customers are demanding personalized service more than ever, expecting their suppliers to have the insight, flexibility and know-how to make the right changes to their business model to serve their customers’ ever-changing needs. That, in essence, is what an effective VOC process/ program supports. One of the worst mistakes you
can make is to operate from within, with your back to your customers, focusing on internal data and celebrating your perceived successes. This will invariably have a detrimental impact on your relationship with your customer. It is essential to be aligned with customers and ensure you are viewing your performance, your value and your relevance through the eyes of your customers. Another mistake sometimes made is missing the opportunity to utilize VOC data to make highly informed strategic decisions to contribute to an improved customer experience and ultimately a positive return on investment. One example would be the use of VOC data to help guide product development and product innovation decisions to increase greater alignment with customer and industry needs, while reducing the risk of waste and increasing the probability of achieving the forecast return on investment. The key benefit of VOC is to capture customer feedback from various channels and collate the feedback in a single location. The data is then analyzed and utilized in a timely manner to prioritize

Powerful Global Women Foundation (Powerhouse Charity) was founded in 20l6 in Nigeria, West Africa, by Lady Anita Duckworth-Bradshaw. The core objective of this organization is to transform the lives of women and children, through various projects centred around the need of the service group. In 20l6 Lady Anita single handedly fed over 400 children as part of “project feed l000 children globally”, and held an empowerment conference for the women. Through this project, so many women have gone to do great things with the knowledge they gained from the event. She recently held a life transforming event for women in Lagos, Nigeria as part of International women’s month celebration 20l8. The turnout was very encouraging. She is working towards supporting more families to keep their children and wards in school through” project back-to-school” starting in September 20l8.
