The Grey Lions are proud to host Miss Pennsylvania 2024 Page Weinstein. A native of Pittsburgh, Page is a Magna Cum Laude graduate with bachelor’s degrees in broadcast journalism and dance from the University of Alabama. Prior to being crowned Miss Pennsylvania, Page traveled the world as a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines. She is working toward earning her private license with dreams of becoming a commercial pilot. She will be performing her dance/twirl routine to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” which won her a talent scholarship at the 2025 Miss America competition.

Matthew Dodd Songs & Stories of St. Patrick’s Day

A musician, vocalist and storyteller, Matthew Dodd uses period dress, backdrops and props to bring a variety of historical periods, stories, locations and events to life. Snow canceled his music show in January, but this month, Matthew arrives to share songs and stories of Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day for your listening enjoyment.

Great American Songwriters Review with Pianist Andrew Roberts and Friends

Central PA pianist and arranger Andy Roberts reimagines the American Song Book with his jazz tinged vocal arrangements. Written for four voices, piano and bass, his music celebrates such composers as Harold Arlen, Henry Mancini, Richard Rogers and many others.

Lyndon Johnson - Larger Than Life: What is So Great About LBJ’s Great Society?

The legislative accomplishments of President Lyndon Johnson (LBJ) include the 1964 Civil Rights Act, 1965 Voting Rights Act, Equal Housing Act, voting rights, Medicare, Medicaid, environmental stewardship and immigration reform. LBJ passed more legislation than any U. S. President — laws which defined our modern society, impacting domestic and foreign policy for years to come — but all were eclipsed by the Vietnam War. Presented by JeanPaul Benowitz, dean of faculty and associate provost for Student Learning at Elizabethtown College.

Ireland has a rich tradition of tales that warmed its long winter nights: fairy tales that haunt, leprechaun tales that delight, wonder tales that teach and amuse and ancient myths that rend the heart. Storyteller Dennis Strain samples each tradition, in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. This performance will be repeated on Tuesday, March 18, at 10 a.m., in the Keystone Room.

Shawn Patrick became interested in vintage phonographs 15 years ago, when, with his wife’s blessing, he purchased his first one. His “hobby” quickly grew, and he taught himself how to repair them and continued to collect them, eventually meeting another seasoned collector, Nick Seiber. Nick and Shawn will showcase pieces from their collections, share their wealth of knowledge and history of this antiquated form of music making and demonstrate some old-time recordings that were once popular hits.

The Vietnam War: How Did We Get There?

THURSDAY, MARCH 27, 10 A.M.

Prior to World War II, the U.S. had almost no relationship with Vietnam due to the 19th century Emperor Minh Mang’s anti-foreign stance. In 1944, America aided the Vietnamese communist army the Viet Minh led by Ho Chi Minh against Japan, marking the beginning of America’s involvement in Vietnam. This talk examines the historical circumstances that led to America’s longest war (until Afghanistan) and discusses changes in our military and civilian lives resulting from it. Robert Wheelersburg, Ph.D., was a Navy Hospital Corpsman during the evacuation of Saigon who served on the aircraft carrier, USS Midway, and lived in a Vietnamese refugee camp in the Philippines for three months providing medical care. He is also a retired military historian and anthropology professor.

The Coyle School of Irish Dance strives to instill in each student a respect for Irish culture by teaching various aspects of traditional Irish dancing. The school is committed to promoting teamwork among its students, which in turn helps foster a family atmosphere within the school. The school was started in 1971 and is currently under the leadership of Grace Anne Coyle.

Challenge runs every Tuesday and Wednesday starting March 11 through April 9.

The CyberCycle is a state of the art piece of fitness equipment, designed to enhance your physical, cognitive, social and emotional wellness. Come ride one of our BRAND NEW CyberCycle recumbent bikes and help us compete for the title of CyberCycle Madness Champions!

This knockout-style competition lasts 5 rounds over 5 weeks. Miles ridden each Tuesday and Wednesday during the challenge count toward the MVE total for that week. Please note, you must be a member of the Baird Wellness Center and have a CyberCycle Rider ID in order for your miles to count. Stop by the Baird Wellness Center before March 11 to get your Rider ID, get oriented to the bike and help put MVE on the leaderboard! Let’s ride!

MASONIC VILLAGE HEALTH CARE CENTER TOURS

TUESDAY, MARCH 4

10 A.M. - NOON

New for 2025! Masonic Village is excited to offer guided tours of the Masonic Health Care Center to retirement living residents. Come and see all of the wonderful amenities and opportunities available for short-term rehab and long-term care at Masonic Village. RSVP is required, as we have a limited amount of space. Please call ext. 33205 to reserve your spot, and let us know if you require transportation. The tour will start in the Roosevelt Assembly Room, where we will have some information to share and a short question and answer period. This will be followed by a guided tour of the building. Tours are also scheduled for April 1, May 6, June 3, Sept. 2, Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2.

ROOSTER WOODSHOP

Masonic Village Rooster Woodshop is located on the corner of Freemason Drive and Umbaugh Drive. The showroom is open Monday through Friday, from 8 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m. It is also open on Saturday, from 8 – 11 a.m. There are many assorted items produced by the members. All items on display are for sale, and all Masonic Village residents and employees receive a 15% discount on a showroom item priced $100 or more. The shop can produce custom furnishings and novel items from wood, and members can also perform minor repairs to furniture upon request. Scan the QR code for a link to our Facebook page.

Shown above is a drop leaf table produced by one of our members. It is made of cherry wood and has a honey finish. The side leaves fold down, enabling it to sit close to a sofa or chair. It would make a great lamp table. This project can be custom built to an alternate size and finish.
