Something n ew and exciting is h appening at you r Masonic Temple in Philadelphia. The Library and Museum has a new namel As of Apr il 6th, 1990, th e Grand Lodge L ibrary a nd Museum has been incorpora ted and is now known as THE MASONIC LIBRARY AND MUSEUM OF PENNSYLVANIA.

For so m e time, th e Officers of the Gra nd Lodge have been aware that in order to mainta in the hi gh standards se t by those w h o helped found the Library and Museum , s u c h as Bro. John Wanamaker, first Chairman of the original Com mittee on Library, and Bro. Julius Sachse, the first Librarian, that certain changes we re n eeded to obtain he lp in several areas. One quite obvious area is that of seeki n g add itiona l funds. One avenue of reach ing this goa l is th a t of sec uring the sta tu s of a 50 1(c) 3 in-

stitution ; this process has now begun. Once this approval ha s been obtained, many avenues will hopefully be opened to us. This will help in the area of funding (e.g. matching funds from vario u s bu si nesses). However, there is also another impo rtant area and that is: Volunteers. When we say someone is missing, and we say "You Are," we mean in this importa nt program of th e Library and Museum.

We n eed help: assistants to the tour gu ides of the Masonic Temple , people to sell items in our gift shop , people to be on duty in the Library and Museum, to allow our professional s taff the time to work in other places like our Archives in the sub-basement, indi vidual s to arrange and sort collections, to assist in researc h projects , and to assist with sorting a nd se lec tion of materials for ex h ibits.
