Work continues on campus to make bicycling safer and more inviting.

We have installed quality bike racks in eight key locations around campus: Freemasons Cultural Center, Brossman Pool, Soffge Circle, Masonic Health Care Center Clinics, Farm Market, James Buchanan, Grand Lodge Hall and Whisk in Sycamore Square.

REMEMBER THESE SAFE RIDING TIPS:

• Always wear a helmet.

• Check your bike: air pressure, brakes, chain, seat and handlebars.

• Ride on the right side with auto traffic.

• Obey traffic signs and signals.

• Wear light or brightly colored clothing.

• Yield to pedestrians.

• It is against the law to wear headphones.

• Be alert. Look for obstacles in your way and stay alert for traffic around you.

• Look both ways for traffic. About 70% of bicycle crashes occur at driveways or intersections.

• A bike rider can be charged with DUI.

• As a motorist, give cyclists four feet when passing. It’s the law. At intersections, bicycle riders have the right-of-way when they are going straight and the motor vehicle is turning.
